if you are going to go with a perpetual setup then you don't need to veg at all and won't be able to. Your plants will spend the first few weeks in flower growing out anyway, while converting their energy to bud production. It depends on strain but you shouldn't need any veg time, from cloner to 12/12 in the tray.

I think at least 1 week of veg would help alot. I sold all of my tubes and bought reflectors. The reflectors work better at both ends, heat removal, and light reflection. If you have no veg time your going to need to fill the trays with as many little clones as possible. In all of my SOG's I veg from 1-3 weeks, depending.

I run a 3x3 ebb/flow table under a 600W HPS. The 600W provides a good light footprint for a 3x3.

I flood 15 min every 3 hours during lights on and once during lights off.

In my ebb/flow I do a 36 plant single cola SOG style. No veg time for the clones, straight into 12/12.
Start on bloom nutes at 1.5 EC and increase .1 EC every week

White pistils top to bottom 3 weeks into 12/12

Need to keep a healthy stock of mums

For lots of clones

Thanks Allsop, I don't know what the strain is however it's very indica dominant, fat leaves, minimal stretch and is finished in about 6-7 weeks. It also clones easily.

At about 5 weeks pistils start to form on some of the leaves where the stalk joins the leaf. I think these are called flowerlets.

I have used grodan cubes and pots in the past for SOG. However on this run I thought I would put the clones straight into the hydroton just to see how it goes.

So far they seem to be growing quite happily.

On each flood the hydroton remains stationary, it does not move at all.

If you decide to go this way the bigger the reservoir the better. Helps to keep PH stable and quite a lot of water gets pumped into the tray.

Keep an eye on the res levels, the plants use quite a lot.

You don't need a very large pump either. I use a Waterworks, 1000 litre per hour, 24V pump for my 3x3 table. This is quite small but more than adequate.

You'll love it.

I have used 5" net pots in the past however this time I put the clones straight into the hydroton and this seems to work just fine.

As I do SOG I put the clones in at 4 per sq/ft which comes to 36 clones in a 3x3 table. These are put straight on to 12/12.

You don't have to do SOG, it just works for me.

SOG involves high plant numbers, mums, clones and what's growing in the table, so that is something to consider.

One more thing I also keep a water heater set at 24C in the res and also have 2 air stones in there.
