well i keep my lights stationary and move the plant to the light if need be and my temps are far beyond perfect my garden never gets over 68 degrees summer time included and a simple 5 gallon bucket is enough to bring a plant up to the light far enough if you got stationary lights as i do i got 3000 watts hps one switchable and i run a vortex 800 series all soild ducting i have twice the fan i need don't even run it any higher than half way now that i got a dimmer on it just the 4 dollar ones at lowes because they work just as good as the 30 dollar ones at a hydro store :)

Hey Maj P~
Whenever you have time, would you mind sharing a bit about Sugar Shack? Have heard about it before, but would like more input about this strain.

I harvested all my AD & LS. As always both grew beautifully. Only one smallish AD---think that was my fault---I topped her and I knew they don't like that(don't know what I was thinking when I did it).
Other than that, I am totally thrilled with this grow.

Next up: SSHxAD (may have to wait a few months before starting that one), and more AD & LS. Hope I have enough room for the SSHxAD...my have to LST all over the room. lol!

Thanks to everyone on this forum for your continued support.

Another NM grower in the group here. Been running Hashberry for the last few grows. To all you questioning portable a/c, it does work like a charm if room is set up correctly for that type of a/c, but yeah, they're damn pricey compared to window units.Sometimes you just can't use a window unit, so I've had to make due. It cycles on about every 15-20 mins for about 5 mins. Not too bad! Anyway, good to know there's others in this area growing some kind buds, never met anyone else producing some properly grown bud here, just newbies who harvest early, so it's good to know you guys and gals are out there. Peace.

So I've got a new setup underway. I've been trying to figure out 1.how many lights also looking at going 2.ebb & flow with 3.hydroton or suretogrow. The flower room is 31' long X 16' wide X 10' high. The veg room is 16' wide x 12' long x 10' high. The veg room is already setup with 3-400watt lumatek hids with 8" ducted reflectors with vortek fan. The question I've got is flower room 31' long X 16' wide X 10' high.
1. how many lights what wattage
2. dirt or some version of hydro
I've been growing in dirt last 2 years messed around aeroponic pump died lost everything, tried ebb and flow plants were huge had no flavor and were basicly unconsumable.
3. hydroton or suretogrow
4. whos cheapest for lights and supplies (I've used discount hydro)
I priced up supplies $4,500

Thanks in advance

1. 18 x 1Kw for that flower room (which is about the size of a three car garage)
2. Hydro way bigger check my thread in my sig.
3. Dynagrow II silica rock (check out BigGreens thread). SureToDeath sucks (see my thread again), Hydroton is messy I use it but want to switch to Dynagrow II after seeing BGs trees.
4. Depends on where you live I guess. I really like my local guys.

Peace, :joint:

I was thinking about using the Lumatek (dual meaning X2) 600Watt 12 lights total. Is there a big differnence between 1000 and 600 as far as yeild? I've been running 3-400's for the last 2 years and a 2- 250's prior to that.

HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE Difference! You have 500sq' of flower room. Why not cut it in half and have an AM and a PM room. That way your electricity use will be uniform and you'll only run half the lights at a time, half the heat ;)

I think 4Kw per hundered sq' is around the norm so my suggestion of 18 was a little low, your 12 running 600w is too little in my opinion.

I run thousands and flip flop them two hours on and off. The 1Kws push light so much further than the 600ws no reason to go small if you have 500sq' with 10' ceilings so 5,000 cubic feet of desert love needs 10's of thousands of watts (.6 x 12) 7200w just wont cut it.

hydrosun is right, unless your flowering without hardly any veg the 600 watters wont give you much buds on your lower branches, myself i like the 600's but you have to run more of them to compensate for the wattage loss, and they are so much cooler and easyer on the electric bill, I recently changed from 3 1000 watters to 4 600 watters, my room is so much cooler and i saved 220 dollors on the elect bill and by getting better light spread im getting better yields, so i guess you can go either way but you have to decide what will work best for your grow style. also I prefer cocco over any medium i have ever used.

i read that people were having problems with the lumatek and my hydro store people said they were returning too many of them. i got a nextgen per their recommendation. i ran a 1000 watt and now i'm running a 600. after doing a bit of reading, i figure i'll get about 1/3 less dry smoke but it will take me a couple grows to figure it out for sure. i was growing way too much with the 1000 watt anyway. first grow in a 5' x 5' closet was 8 oz. one of my last grows was 21 or 24 oz. since i just grow for me, i was sitting on way too much weight and it made me nervous. such a problem to have. :)

hydro is absolutelly right 600 watt lights are not even worth wasting your money on 1000 watt lights only they say a 600 is 95% as effecient as the 1000 watt light but thats in lumens plants dont read lumens they need the uv rays and what not put off by a powerful light which your only going yo find in 1000 watt lights if you've been using 3 400 watt lights wait till you put in 3 1000 watters how much light your going to be putting in it
and how big is the room a rule of thumb to follow when setting up lighting you want 50 watts per sq foot but sometimes ya cant afford that 4th 5th or 6th light so you make do with what you got but you want to get as close as you possiblly can to the 50 watts per sq foot
