I grew up old school - back when the "Secret to Speed" was: Cubic inches and cubic dollars - as much of each as you could muster.

Things called "Dual Quads" and "Tunnel Ram Manifolds", camshafts that wouldn't idle; and tail pipe emmissions that would - choke a horse.

For trucks- we had ones called "Little Red Wagon" Heres a link:

Just the "ticket" for a quick run to the hardware store!

A 400 HP street car was - usually a cut above - anything with 500 and above, that was the big doggies.
What bliss there was in ignorance.

Been out looking at the new 500+ HP Shelby Mustang -- Looks like bliss took an upgrade! - And todays cars actually corner AND STOP!!!

Back then - you could factory order a Mopar with a 425HP hemi, and DRUM BRAKES.
Who needs a heart defribulator with that set-up?

But there is something about a Hemi Cuda, a big block Vette, a bad assed Mustang that todays cars do differently. Interesting that for prime grade muscle cars - you can buy two, three or four new ones for what one prime restored old one will cost.

^badasss..can you do donuts in that?

Oh yeah, as heavy as it is it will surprise you.

5.7 fuel injected, stock computer chip replaced with performance chip.

I can lock into 4 low and spin all 4 wheels on pavement.

But that was with my BFG AT's.

2 weeks ago I just spent $1500 on the Super Swampers and wheels on it now so I wont be spinning those anywhere but mud and snow.

Something here must have gotten lost in cyberspace...

I do NOT condemn gas-hogs or whatever else one may call them...it's just that having one myself is past time for me.
I have had my own share of vehicles getting GPM rather than MPG so to speak...lol

But as for my every day ride I rather get around with something giving me around 50MPG than having to pull up @ the pump every few hundred miles.

Where I spend time part of the year we have all sorts of "things" gas station owners love us for, two of them you can see below.
The Airboat gets about 4-5MPG.....
