ramen noodles

any ramen noodle recipes from other broke stoners out there?
i dont cook mine up with the soup.
instead i break the brick in 4 pieces
boil for the 3 minutes
then drain the water off.
take the flavor pack and sprinkle it on top and mix the noodles around to coat them with the seasoning.
most of the time i put hot sauce on em too for good measure.
the only time i get into them is when i have the intense munchies though. the thought of them at any other time sickens me.

Some diced green onions and some chopped cilantro is always helpful.

Some steamed organic carrots wouldn't hurt either and maybe some shredded ginger.

thanks for the responses everyone. times are tough and i am on the ramen train again and about to feast upon a bowl when i typed that up. gonna try out some of these different ways to spice it up abit.

some chopped cabbage, carrot, chicken/hot link/chinese sausage/ham/(whatever) with garlic and ginger throw in a wok or fry pan(HOT) with a little oil saute or stirfry for a minute or two throw in your ramen and flavor packet. (bext if you leave a bit of the fluid though) Poor mans five minute chow mein.

Or, fresh tomato, mushrooms (wood ears are great if you can fnd them fresh) some minced bird shit chilies or whatever you can stand/like green onion or sliced yello/red onion, maybe some basil, definitely cilantro celery, DO NOT COOK THIS drizzle some lemon or lime juice and add some fish or soy sauce. eat it as is, delicious salad.
OR,
fry up some country sausage (sausage meat to you brits/Ozzies//kiwis) I like Jimmy dean hot, add some Thai peanut sauce to the meat after it's browned and drained. with this one I like some cabbage and shredded carrot thrown in the ramen while it boils, drain hte ramen, add the spice packet and stir in the meat peanut sauce mix. (you may want to cut teh meat sauce with a touch of water while it's cooking, or not).

We got this shit called ma-ma noodles here. not quite the texture of ramen, I miss ramen haven;t had any for at least 9 years. matter of fact Iw as just thinking of ramen as I plan my return to the states, gonna buy a case.

good for the budget but horrid for the diet
just have a look at that nutrition label.......

aside from that Evil Raven had it right. really
on a budget? buy/eat potatoes, again empty
calories but cheap & more filling than ramens.

if you're on a budget and trying to eat, my advice is this:

find a good beef stew recipe and make the biggest batch you can. a big ass pot of stew served over extra wide egg noodles can last you all week long. if you're worried about it keeping, portion it out and freeze it. its filling, healthy and fuckin tasty!

I love ramen, but I'm also half Asian and go to the Asian market and get the really good kind, not the crap that's manchurian or top ramen... but I have eaten that too. If you add an egg to the ramen it will add a lot of protein to it. Put some fresh spinach or dried wakame (seaweed) in it for more protein and iron. Ramen already has a ton of calories in it because of the fat content, they fry the noodles to get them that way in the US.

I'm in college as well. When I am broke, I always buy ramen. I also buy some mixed frozen vegetables like niblet corn, onions, bell peppers and put them in at the last couple of minutes so I'm getting in some nutritious. :)
