What up SJ club!

Good news!! ;) I got a couple of new peices to add to the list of upgrades for my next grow!

I gotta tell you, This new hydro shop I go to now has hooked it up FAT the last couple times Ive been in there, pretty much wont be going anywhere else thats fo sure!!

On with the new toys!!!

Today I got the 6'' HydroHut Goblin filter, a CAP fan speed control, and some Hydrofarm 6'' ducting :D

Along with the purchase last week of a DR80, 6'' Active Air Inline, a 600/400w Nextgen ballast and a SolorMax 600HPS, Im almost ready to go!! I just got to finish up the 3 girls I got going now ( 2 Green Cracks and a Lemon Trainwreck; 9 days left) clean a closet and put together the new setup!

We are going to go with 4-5 plants this first run with the new set-up. We'll veg clones for a week or so in 1 or 2 gallon net bottom hard pots. Transplant to 5g Smart Pots and ROCK and ROLL!!!

Going with a 600 for the first time I dont want to get caught with a PM problem deep into flowering because of an overloaded tent. Im leaning more toward 4 plants right now.......but that could change after my next bowl!!

Here's approx what Ive spent so far for those wondering what the cost of a new set up is. Worth every penny IMO.

190 ballast
85 fan
85 filter
185 tent
15 speedc
15 ducting
50 bulb
_____
625 total so far

Thats 2.5 oscars from the clubs around here. I still have to purchase clones, pots, soil, and perilite...... or just go DWC.

We've been getting 4.5-6 oscars out of my 400HPS 2x2x4 plywood cab, going straight to 12's the day I bought clones. So all we really need is 9 total oscars to make our money back and anymore will be GOLDEN! We need about 8 oscars to keep us supplied for a cycle, so once we reach that number we will save even more $$!!! We have been running out 2 weeks before harvest the last 3 grows and have had to buy for that time remainig.

Wife should be home with her newly minted recomendation she recieved today! So I must bid farewell to you all for the time being. I must drive my beautiful bride to the club for the first time in her life!

OK, i'm ordering a DR150, with a digi 600w & adjust a wing reflector.....i know a DR150 could handle twice that light, but the goals are:
- to work in it easily;
- minimize heat issues (no cooltube);
- learning to pull a max yield from a 600 (only done outdoor & CFL indoor);
thanx for starting that thread...............

Just went through this whole thread and I singled out Ottoman. Please don't get offended by what I'm going to say, this is to help you!

Basically, I grow in the DR240W. My last grow yielded 55 ounces and I used 3x600W lights. Strain was Jillybean from TGA, veg was like 2 weeks and I had 15 plants in 3 gallon containers.

This time I'm running 18 plants with 4x600W (not air cooled). Works out to 75 watts per square foot.

Now Ottoman, in my opinion your pots are far too big. THe secret to growing in soil is getting as many wet/dry cycles as possible. Your soil simply isn't drying out quickly enough and thats why your growth is so slow. You change to 3 gallon pots and you will notice a difference.

Each time you water you should aim to get 10-20% run off and only re-water when the pots are light. If you did that with 5 gallon pots you would probably wait a week or something to re-water. This is why people who use coco experience a boost in yield, simply because that shit dries out faster than soil and they're getting more wet/dry cycles... They were not watering properly in soil...

The other issue is that you're not actually getting the most out of your lights. You should have them like this:

[] []

That way you get major overlap.

You don't need Co2, believe me. Just plenty of fresh air, lots of light and as many wet/dry cycles as you can get. Keep temps nice and high as well. 70F at night and 80F during the day. Very fast growth this way and you will notice increased yields. Also, everytime temps drop below 68F, Phosphorus becomes immobile in the plant and everytime this happens yield suffers.

Hope this helped some. I'm going to post my grow from next week when I flip to flower! Got some ChemD going on.

Peace

Thanx Sporty.....is it true that the AAW increase the foot print of the light?....i hope to cover a rectangle of 1,20m (4') X 1,50 (5')?......... any others pros & cons about that set up?

Well just got home from an afternoon of running around town getting a few more things for the next grow.

Today we got,

5x #3 Smart pots (flower)
1 bag of FFOF
1 bag of Black Gold perilite
10 feet of Hanging chain
6x 5-7'' O ring clamps
2x 24''x16''x6'' Tubs for water to waste
2x 26''x16'' Wire racks
5x 1 gallon net bottom pots (veg)

Cant wait!

I woke up this morning and checked on the girls..... I saw NANERS on my 2 Green Cracks!! FUCK i think....... So I talk it over with my wife and decide..... Fuck it, its been 48 days so we might as well harvest.

I was pretty bummed out thinking how much more yeld we'd get going the extra week, but Oh well.

To my amazement, after all was said and done we ended up with 645 WET grams. So if I go with 20-25% dry that will give us right at about 5 Oscars! :D :D

Im VERY happy with that to say the least stopping a week early. I also figured I could harvest and get our new gear up and running a week sooner being Im notorious for being impatient.

I ended up getting 1.5 Oscars off each of the GC's, and 2 Oscars off the Lemon Trainwreck.

Yall have a good night now, ya hear!!

nice to see there are so many people with these tents as well. hope to get some help here with mine, just started using them.

ok so i just got a dr150, 1k, 6" air cooled hood, 6" 435 cfm fan, insulated ducting, and scrubber. been doing some test runs as of now and at about 25'' from the light the lowest i can get the temperature is 81.5 ish

ive routed all the ducting and fan in many different ways, and thats the coolest i can get it. now i know that i dont have much room at all for an ac unit inside the tent, so at this point could anybody give me any pointers or advice as to how i could get things cooler.

im only looking for a 7* difference. would cooling the air being drawn into the passives possibly do the trick?

Wow!!! So with 1800w you pulled 3.5lbs almost that's damn good! I'm looking to switching up to a DR100 with a 3x3 table and a 600 with T5s lining the corners..

Heres a question for the club.
I've used a DR80 Street and a DR300W but now I'm thinking of just a small DR60 which is 24"x24" X55".
I found a perfect square hood that is about 20"x20" aircooled with the ducting on the top and not the side. At any rate I wanted to put a 400hps in the tent, which would give me around 100watts per square foot(digital ballast outside of tent). I was thinking of a inline fan around 150cfm or should I bump it up to 264cfm. Ambient temps will be in the high 70's sometimes and that is such a small space that I wonder if I will be able to keep the inside environment cool with the less powerful fan.
Probably going to use airpots with coco or promix, so no concerns about temps and hydro conditions.
Thank you guys for your input!

I have an adjust a wing combined with a cooltube. The spread from the wing combined with the cooling of the tube is nice.

Just remove the internal reflector and hang the tube below the wing. I used some wires. Voila!

hi Dödsknark........is that a DR120 or a DR150? if it's a 120, i think the cooltube is a must....but with a 150 i think you could go with just the AAW and an good vortex fan....assuming you have one 600W bulb.....what da ya think?

I'm going with a Daystar reflector from Hydrofarm for my 400w in my DR80 cuz it's probably 90-100 under my light about 8" and that's ridiculous with it being air cooled! It's cuz there is no glass sealing my shit so it's not getting as cool as it can and I'm probably loosing on yield from it too! With a 4" Vortex I should be able to have my light 8"-12" and it be completely cool! I got jipped cuz I didn't have time to send it back cuz it was the hood ballast and bulb all together and I needed to get started asap. Fuckers

maybe that's also because a 400W is a little oversized for a DR80? you won't have these temps in a DR100, even without the glass in the reflector, dont you think?

Well I don't have a digital thermometer but my temps stay at 70-75 at the top of the canopy in the corner where I have it . I also did a lil test with a piece of glass I had and taped it on and it was MUCH cooler under the light like that but I needed it to suck the air in the tent through it too which I couldn't since the hood had no holes and it's top vented. But I could definitely see that if I had a hood that was sealed that can pull air through it I would be able to have it closer. Also I think a 400 is perfect for a DR80 they recommend 250-400w on the chart I just rock the max. I would also do better if I got another inline fan for a intake like one of those green inline booster fans would be perfect I think to pump fresh air into there.
