Plant rescued from a friend

Never been a serious grower. My friend started a plant, and seriously neglected it, he wasn't experienced in it himself. I've grown plants before, but never to harvest for some reason or another. Anyhow, he was about to through it out one day when I offered to take it off his hands. The first shots are the day I received it. It was approximately 3 weeks old. I diagnosed it as a PH problem with some serious lockout, and possibly overwatering. The soil was very wet when I got it.

The next photos are about three weeks later. -present time- You can still see some some of the damage caused. But the new growth is looking better and better.

If she is still in the same pot its prolly time to upsize.

Btw she just seemed a bit overferted and wet when you got her/it. Id get it into some soil you know or coco and use liquid ferts at a very low but consistant EC and PH.

Is very rewarding when the ugly duckling turns into a real fine young lady. GL matey

I am having one problem with this plant. The new growth is looking better and better all the time, but as soon as it becomes "old growth" the leaves start to curl under and dry out. They leaves aren't yellowing any, just dying from the outside in. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the comments guys. I'll take pictures later so you can see what the bottom of it looks like. But overall, it looks tenfold what it did when I got it. Definately not the best thing I've grown. I'll find some old pictures later and scan them. Back when I have a 5 foot WW. :D Good memories, too bad she never got flowered.

I hope someone can solve this next one, because it's something I've either never noticed before, or just never seen at all. I'm on 12/12 and the lights are set to come on at noon. Checked the plant at 9:30 am, 2 and 1/2 hours before "daylight" and the leaves were perked up. I'm familiar with the routine of the leaves dropping at night and perking up during daylight hours, but this is during the dark period. I checked it at 1 am and they were drooping, as normal. What's with them being perked up 2 and 1/2 hours before light? Is the plant doing this in anticipation of light after getting used to the routine? For further information, I have no light leaks at all, and the ambient temperature during dark hours is a little over 60F. Thoughts?

Agreed. I wasn't necessarily "concerned" as the plant is in good health. More or less curious as to why it's doing this. Thanks for the response, at least I know it's a more common occurence. :)

I'm worried about this, hopefully someone can ease my mind.

This baby is on 12/12, and has been for about 2 weeks now, with no sign of sex yet.

The lights are set to come on at noon by an analog timer. The timer is plugged into an extension cord in the basement which I had to set up on the dryer last night due to a little moisture on the floor. I was worried about it getting wet and shorting out. I went down at 4pm today and the timer was face down on the floor, the lights were off. I flipped the timer over and realized that the "on" switch had been against the floor, and while the timer was still moving, the on switch was not. So I turned the lights on at that time.

All in all, my plant got an extra 4 hours of darkness in its last cycle. Is this going to cause any adverse effects? Should I go ahead and continue on the 12/12 cycle or alter it at all?

Yea, I put it on the washer for safety's sake. Turns out that my sister sit it on the floor, not realizing that putting it face down would have consequences. I figured it might be ok, and have heard that having a long night of darkness can actually help "nudge" a girl into flowering. The plant seems cool about the whole ordeal, and hey, if she's happy, I'm happy. Right? :greenstars:

It's a bit small yet to be showing, but I don't see any male parts there yet so that's a good thing.

How come you put the timer on the basement end of the extension cord instead of the upstairs end of it where you have more control?

As far as the lower leaves drying up and falling off, that can be caused by a few things. Poor light penetration will do that because they aren't getting much light. Mine were doing that until I bought a DI filter for my hard water. They were getting so much calcium it was locking stuff out. It explained why using Foxfarm nutes and soil was worse than Miracle Grow and cheap potting soil. The MG had no calcium in it while the FF soil and nutes have a lot of calcium.

Thanks for the reply. I've kept it small for various reasons, mainly space. The plants are in the basement with the timer, just so you know. :p The leaves drying up was just small issue that I overreacted on. It's a past problem and isn't an issue now. I'd guess it to be a hybrid, leaning more toward Sativa dominant. What do you think?

Well, she started showing yesterday. That's right, I lucked out and got a lady. :) I'll get some pictures up as soon as the flowering is more prominent.
