Ducksfoot?

sprouted two seeds and both showed a solid ducksfoot shape, i remember the strain back from og just wondering if anyone could tell me if ducksfoot comes from genetics or mutation?

As far as I know, it's a genetic mutation that's been bred into a line of seeds. Leaf mutations tend to vary with Ducksfoot as far as I've noticed. For example I've seen leaves on ducksfoot plants with near to no leaf serrations, then the one's I've got going now go from slightly serrated to less serrated but I don't have any smooth round 'Ducksfoot' looking leaves on my plants. It's strange, but then again the strain itself is an out and out freak taking into account that it's supposedly almost completely Sativa genetically it's 8 week flower time in itself is an uncommon trait. I love the stuff though, want to tame it so I can grow her indoors but she's notoriously hard to work with so I don't know how far I'll get.

WOW ducksfoot! I haven't seen seeds available for this strain in a long time supposedly due to the original breeder being busted in Australia. From every thing Ive read on this strain I assumed it was lost forever I'm kinda curious how you got so lucky

Its definitely not lost forever. But it is NO GOOD for indoor growing. Trust me, there have been threads made about this. Outdoor only - or waste of time. Perhaps with a 1000 watts this rule would not apply, however even the primary seed source said do not attempt indoors.

I hear it is very popular here at about 45 degrees north. Haven't tasted yet, but a friend told me he has people who would not smoke his anymore, perfering the Duckfoot. Somehow I don't think it is really stealthy enough to fool any but casual glances, any opionions (or onions)?

peace, love, understanding ;-)

hey everyone, Mountain thanks for the info, the leafs on both look exactly the same (both having upto seven finger leafs so far all webbed togeather)since having them on 12/12 noticed there stretching alot with zero lower growth.

Kat i know im as suprised as u are(must be floating around n my seedstock), i sprouted about 20 pretty old seeds all diffrent strains and all poped these 2 are the only identical and webbed out of all 20, so i asume they are same strain.health wise they seem to be doing ok besides how little and stretchy they are. Intel thanks for the tip i just might put em outside.

once they show sex ill put em back in veg and figure things out from there. could anyone share a little info in the herb itself, texture, flavors/aroma maybe?

thanks for the replys yall..good info

The smell is described as very stinky - but indoors I am not sure it is going to give you all it has to offer. Frankly, and I hate to keep saying this, but its pretty bland weed grown indoors. Not really sure how there can be such a difference, but the outdoor guys raved about it

Hello everybody, does anyone of you know if there are succesfull crossings of the duckfoot that mature earlier? I heard that the late maturation, makes it impossible to grow duckfoot outdoors in our climate. But i am very interested about the strain because of it possible use in guerrilla growing. Does anyone knows?

Toke, they actually have a really pleasant lemon aroma which could be described as strong but they definitely aren't skunky smelling. Also, just keep a look out for deficiencies. They seem to suffer from some sort of deficiency that has the fan leaves turn totally yellow then drop off. If your growing organic or in soil with slow release ferts then they should be ok but I grew mine in coco outdoors this year and after 3 weeks of veg the problems began. nothing that couldn't be handled, general repair nutrients took care of the yellowing and I'm looking to harvest in a couple of weeks. Pics will be posted so you can see for yourself what they should end up looking like. Not an easy strain for a newb I'd think. Grown side by side with a few other strains outdoors in exactly the same media with similar feeding only the ducks showed problems. Everything else grew without a problem. I'll be running them in an organic mix next year as I've heard they respond much better to it. (and seen pics to prove it) Overall though a very nice plant which can yield very well if run properly with a nice happy sativa buzz to top it all off. As far as your question goes daal, I'm looking into x'ing some indica genes into the duck to see if it helps with indoor growing and also to see if I can get fatter nugs going. As far as flower time goes though I'm not all that fussed as they are doing fine (I'm in Oz) but if the x'ing shortens the flower time then I'll be writing that into the thread if/when I get around to doing it.

Monkey on which longitude are you in OZ? I suppose you have a sea climate down there?
I'm looking out for your report!

I don't know the longitude, will have to check that out. I'm fairly far down the east coast in Melbourne. We don't get have great growing weather compared to other states further north but the amount of sunlight hours is pretty good until mid March. I've had the ducks flowering for 8 weeks approximately, now it's time to flush the soil/coco mix I used of any nutrient salts that may have accumulated. Would like to flower them longer but I'm heading to somewhere and I won't have access to them so it'll be an early chop. One is already bending due to the weight of the main cola which is top heavy... apart from that they're all sweet and looking nice and juicy, love that lemon smell too...

Hi Mountain Monkey, longitude would be around 37 degrees. I am living around 51 degrees. So your summer should be longer and warmer. I probately need a crossing with an autoflowering strain. How much do you think you are going to yield per plant?

daal, to be honest I haven't the faintest clue but I'd be expecting around 5-10 although I'm sure I'll fall well short of that as I'm going to have to pull them early. We've entered Autumn here and the weather is absolutely beautiful. What I'd call perfect outdoor indica weather, clear sky's, low rainfall and humidity and cold night temps (brings out them lovely colors) although sativa does just fine as well. I'll have pics up in about 12 days of the ladies hanging upside down doing the vampire dry. Even then however I'll only have an estimate on the total weight as I'm minus a set of scales at the moment. I'm not really fazed by how much I'll pull, more the quality of what i pull as although the grow has been far from perfect the early chop is the factor that has me worried the most. Hopefully that 8 week flower time description is accurate (I doubt it) because they've been in bloom approximately 8 already.

So on tha last page someone ask how stealthy.....In veg people cant tell for nothing , but once it goes into flower and the colas come out it looks like a pot plant

I ran in back a few years ago when the man was actually around, great strain. More of a novelty just like purple or autos are for others. I still have some ducksfoot genetics in one of my own crosses I have been working with over the years.

always fun to run outdoors where it has room to spread its webs.
