400w bagseed+soil grow

Looks good. It's a jungle in there. I'd recommend cutting some leaves to expose more budsites. That plant in the small pot could be rootbound. Nothing you can do about it now, gotta just finish it up. Good luck!

I have been told that rootboundness doesn't affect the plants potency, just size and shape, so long as it receieves all the nutes it needs. I was aiming to reduce the width of the smaller plants so i kept them in smaller pots to control stretch. it looks to have worked quite well for all but the one plant with clawing leaves, I may transfer it to a slightly larger pot (veeeeery carefully).

I've been wondering. Due to LST creating infinitely more budsites and off branches, how much trimming is appropriate? There are SO many smaller fan leaves, it's unbelievable. I've trimmed maybe 20 from one plant, and 30 from the other, fairly recently. I don't know how much more I should feel comfortable giving the chop to. hese LST'd plants are still monsterously bushy after this trim. but i could definitely still expose more to the light.

I've counted 15+ decent heads on each. it should be pretty sweet when they fatten up

I've raised the lower plants to aid in better light intensity and penetration. I'm really looking forward to the next few weeks

Rootboundness will not affect potency, but it does affect yield. I'd rather start at 12/12 from seed or clone than be rootbound. I can't stand the look of clawing leaves, or the "rams horn."

I do quite a bit of trimming. They will get 2-3 haircuts during flower. If a leaf is shading a worthy budsite, it goes. In your pics, I see a bunch of leaves I'd remove.

Your shit looks good. Keep it up.

You said you flushed with ph'd water at 7.5-8, yes way to high. But everythings looking good, if it aint broke dont fix it. I water with tap but let it sit out overnight, the ph in my tap will change by about .5
You also asked what was wrong with the plant with the leave pointing down, some genetics will have leaves that just do that, point down bout halfway throung the leaf. Its hard to know with bagseed.
I love growin bagseed, fun shit

all were fed with Head Master and Budzilla Last night. Head master contains vitamins and minerals to enhance bud and resin production, it's effects were actually visible overnight, with more smell and trichome production today. The plants look real happy and are fattening up nicely. It's the 27th day of flower today.

Just gave my ladies another fat feed, because they are loving the nutes. got some cool shots, I played in Photoshop to make nicer looking because HID always screws up colours without the right white balance....... in short I shoot reallll steady half second exposures with the help of Valium, but they don't make my camera menus any easier to operate ;)

Annnyway, plants are all looking happy as, it's day 31 of flower today, and the plants just keep shooting out more buds. I spotted a single seed in a plant (very underdeveloped) and picked it off. I hope this isn't a sign of a plant with hermaphroditic traits. I also picked off yesterday what looked a little like a very underdeveloped nanner, pollen pod, whatever. I just don't know for sure and there's nothing obvious yet. I'm keeping an eye out for hermis as bag seed can be prone to this and I don't want the whole crop ruined through one bad plant...

Anyways. Pics.

all the small plants were flushed and then fed 1l each with budzilla 7.5ml/l and head master 5ml/l. This is a fairly heavy dose of both, though being rootbound, they need to be fed enough, so they are quite happy. It also seems to be shaping the plants nicely, and has limited the stretch hugely, instead focusing it on outward growth of auxiliary stems, resulting in some small but FAT looking buds, already, it's gonna be interesting in 2-3 weeks I suspect :D

Will be flush + feed the big plants tomorrow if they're dry again. (shit, feeding this many plants is actually quite a mish, I've never done it before. but it's fun as!)

Here's the babies. a light fixture broke, leaving 2 plants a bit cooked and dried out. I gave them a small dose of nuted water, put them in this cooler vege room to recover, they're finally starting to perk up again. These plants have all been fimmed or topped or at least lst'd. there's also a White rhino popcorn bud clone rooting with these plants, it's been there for at least a week, developed roots 3-4 days ago. should start doing something at some point, but that's just a game of wait and see. There's some small plants in the flower room, which I intend to re veg for a 3-4 week period in a screen. I'm curious to look into the yield and quality of re vegged plants. Plus I've got lots of bag seed to play with! :D

hey all.
I'm giving serious thought to up scaling the size of my flower room to 1x1m tent. probably run a 600 hps. do you think it could handle a 1000w with the right fan and hood?

also, WHERE can I find CMH 400w bulbs that can be shipped to nz! I've been looking for weeks, and seriously, i'm pretty persistent, and know how to use Google somewhat, i couldn't find anyone selling them. It'd be sooo appreciated if someone could link me a supplier of 400 w phillips retro cmh bulbs. It'll kick the shit out of the hps that's currently cooking my plants. I'd probably switch to hps when flowering in winter just to keep plants nice and warm.

but i digress. I'm planning on a home made carbon filter for the new box (if i get it) or even not, I'll use it in this room. I'm planning in 12-15 cm of carbon to draw through.

I actually really like these 400w hps's. real good lights when you can get them in close. I could use a 400cmh and a 600hps in the flower room... hmm. decisions.

I already have a 400 and a 600w hps ballast. magnetic coil ones. I want to get an electronic 400w one for the potentially soon to be vege room.

Any suggestions? Sorry to ramble I'm wasted, I'm good at typing. Met a couple guys at a party tonight who had a couple o's between them of icky sticky, mean skunk. a couple different types of bud, we smoked about 9 blunts, fat, 5 g plus blunts of this shit. several joints from me. it was quite the night. It's great when people share weed and spread the love like this....

Too much beer and things
I digress

Sorry to talk rambling crap, any input on the flower arrangement would be appreciated too :D

Moar pics tomorrow! :D sticky buds bro!

Day 32 of flower

......

Hows that for a starter!

Sadly I'm really not paying enough attention to watering these plants in the vege room!

Tomorrow, shopping list: 5.6L planter bags, screen, air pump and 1 or 2 buckets, to experiment with dwc.

Assuming I let the dwc plant grow as large as my lst'd ones in this grow, only scrogged, how big of a res would be required?

As for talk of upgrading my flowering room, I'm going to do a few runs through with this one first, because it might just be perfect if i can get a 400w cmh. Plus less plants and weight going around = less legal risk.

Enough boring shit. Pics!
babies, fed, watered, I know, they're shamefully under watered and un-looked-after. I'm re potting tomorrow and then will start growing into a scrog for a few of them.

I've topped, fimmed, lst'd to get nice low lying plants. these are all clones of the currently flowering plants, so once i sample the smoke, I'll choose which genetics i want to cut into clones and mothers, if any. should have white widow and northern lights coming soon. i have a white rhino popcorn bud re-vegging, about 2 inches of roots hanging off it, and it's in soil now. good genetics here I come :D I will always like bagseed though... really fun shit.

lst'd plant. couple of good tops of the two trained plants...

They're beginning to show some good trich development. the broken stemmed one, looks at least as good as the other, it seems to have developed a more main cola but both are already nice n' stinky.

Extensive trimming to expose bud sites has gotten this plant going crazy well. LST seems to cause excessive fan leaf growth in relation to the size of the plant. If trimming exposes bud sites to direct light, go for it imo. My plants seem happy as. This is my most successful LST to date. I'm keen to move to modular scrog soon. sculpting plants is really fun and quite an art to judge and exectute, training and then light positioning to bend growth in the desired direction.

Howzit siu, good to see another NZer up and growing. Nice grow too I have to say.

Your question about upgrading to 1x1m room, you could have a 1000watt in there but yes you would need a decent fan taking the heat out of the room.

Keep it up they're getting fat.

Peace keke :joint:

the plants in small planter bags are rootbound as, how long should I flush them before harvest? is it getting near time to flush?

I know the lst plants have a good 3-4 weeks left in them minimum. I'm not sure how the tiny pots will affect the maturing time of the other plants, they seem to be a bit ahead of the trained plants. Possibly also due to stem breakage on the big plants during early flower. (The plant seems to have recovered pretty well, the wound is healed, and it's building up a nice big cola, because it was hard to train a healing stem.)

Plants seem to thrive on getting a bit of abuse, twisting stems, lightly crushing them also, helps build up heaps tougher and fitter plants. I say this, though abuse during flower is generally far less preferable. I go from aggressive LST on young plants, sometimes with topping, and stem bending squishing, to far more relaxed LST as the lignens build in stems and they harden into flowering.

sui 3d, i am growing 2 strains of bagseed from some good sticky bud with 8 seeds from an oz and some seedy blueberry. both have good trich development so i cloned well into flower and the re-vegged clones produced Single blade leafs and then the growth returned to normal. other than the time to root and reveg its a great way to keep a strain in the garden.

i too think that the leaf curl is due to excess Nitrogen. my leafs never recovered from the "claw" once i corrected the problem.

good luck finding the grow equip there. i spent my birthday in Christchurch in july '96. i had a great time traveling both islands from jet boating down the wyketo river i think to doing the land luge in Rotorua.......my spelling is off but i had alot of fun and the best part was the hospitality of the locals i stayed with during my 3 weeks.
