600 a zip!!!!! holy pricey

It's geography. My hookups are in NYC, and that is the going rate for decent herb. If you get delivery I think it's even more or maybe the same. 50 bucks for a little teeny bag. But at least they bring you 4 strains.

Close to Philly it's 450-550.

Around me, people reminisce about the 400$ z.

Around the turn of the millenium, I went to Sydney and my friend picked me up a $50 deal. It was like the last knuckle on your pinky, just a tiny dense red nugget that would fill a couple of tiny bowls. I was truly shocked when he pulled it out and started thinking my best friend has ripped me, wtf?

Anyway, it was so strong that days later I was home and still puffing on the last of that shit. God knows what was in it but it turned out a decent deal. :)

Could a computer fan beat an axial 100mm: 98m³/h(50 cfm), 14W, 39dBA, 2300rpm, 35Pa wallfan?
The wallfan would be ~50$ with a regulator but 50$ could also get me a handfull of really great pc-fans.

I suppose it has pretty decent pressure rating but what about the airflow?

There are a ton of pc fans that will blow that fan away :) Lets look at the specs:

Price: basically it's not worth it for what you're getting. Read on.
CFM: 50 is nothing to write home about. PC fans go up to like 250cfm or more.
Amperage/wattage: 14w is equal to just over 1 amp. Decent, certainly, but you can get far more powerful pc fans, up to say around 5 amps (I think) which is extreeeme.
Noise: not too bad I guess but that's mainly because it's got very low:
Pressure: 35 pascals equates to a tad over 3.5 mmh2o which is a very weak fan for pushing through scrubbers, especially compared to what's available with the high end pc fans.

Here is a selection of just some of the higher end Delta fans' specs.

You can see they wail on that wall fan apart from the noise factor, but just undervolt the Deltas so they run slower/quieter, or Delta also makes quieter, less powerful fans that I'm pretty certain would still beat out the wall fan. Here is a link to search Delta's site, or there are other brands of high performance fans too. Peace.

Strong deltas kick ass. I got 475 w of cfl in a rubbermaid running close to ambient 5 inches from the lights. I use 2 120mm deltas pulling through the scrubber on 5v and that is it.

Word, ML. They are truly some next level fans! I have (as you would know, lol) a 92mm Delta dialled down to around 5 or 6 volts pushing into a big-ass commercial carbon filter. Inside I use an 80mm Delta volted the same way to blow on bulbs/plants. It just works and is extremely stealthy in comparison to my other cab.

Only 36w light in that last photo but I've run 100w in summer without any problems. As far as stealth goes, you have to be in the same room within a few metres to hear it at all. Pretty stealthy for me :

Are you running both of your 120mm on 5v to reduce power on the fan? If so... why that? To reduce air flow, noise?

Thanks! :)

You must spread some reputation around before you can give it to Scrub again.

Tahnks Scrub, really appreciate this.
Too bad I'm in a rush and they don't sell Deltas around here. Hope I'll find something as great.

edit.
to the hell with it, been researching the local fan market for hours, my time's worth something too, right. I'll just get an overpriced Ultra Kaze
3,000 rpm
45.90dBA
133.60CFM
DC12V
0.60 A
Should be about 8.23 mmh2o or 80.66 pa at 3000rpm.

Also, a good tip: Thicker fans have greater static pressure.

Yes I remember reading that somewhere before ;)

No problemo dude. The Ultra Kaze seem pretty decent for sure. Best used blowing horizontally, not straight up, in case you missed the conversation on that. Or maybe that was you. Lol, did I even have the conversation :chin: :D

Haha, no worries, I just read this thread through once again, could only remember tiny bits from last time.

What voltage are you running your deltas on? I'm sure it was mentioned somewhere but I didn't notice.
I'm thinking of starting out at 5.5V and going up to ~7 when I add a scrubber. 45.9dBa surely sounds like a jet plane, not that stealthy, huh :D .

Hi ScrubNinja,

Would I be able to use this Delta fan

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835213001

Model AFB1212GHE-F00
Fan Size 120mm
RPM 5200 RPM
Air Flow 240.96 CFM
Noise Level 62 dBA

Rated Voltage : 12V

Operating Voltage Range : 6 ~ 12.8V

Input Current : 2.45 Amp

Input Power : 29.4 Watt

Safely, with a wall adapter from Radio Shack that has adjustable voltage? I assume changing the speed that way would be OK?

2.45 amps is the constant draw. The max is higher. I have 6 amps and can't take to of them to 12 volts. Not that I would ever need to.

So the answer is maybe, but not at 12 volts.

615: The lights are off in the tent but I'll find out the 80mm one inside for you (remind me if I don't). But the one hooked up to the carbon filter and doing all the exhausting is a 92mm FFB0912EHE and it's running on a 5.7v 800mA phone charger 24/7.

The fan says 1.35A on the sticker.

  • 92x92x38mm
  • 1 Amp
  • 110 CFM
  • 16.90 mmh2o
  • 55 dB

I think the 80mm I have is more like 65db, lol. It screams. I'm scared to run it even for a second at 12v because even the neighbour's neighbour's neighbour would be like wtf is that noise!

Ratings: That is a great fan but the problem is that you probably won't find a strong enough adjustable voltage power supply at radio shack etc. I would suggest getting an adjustable supply similar to mine (it's 3 amp so it gives you some nice overhead). Actually now I think of it, I did buy that at Tandy, which is like RadioShack over here, so yeah you might find a suitable one there after all. Mine was on a different shelf to the wall warts though.

No probs man. Madlib, I didn't see your reply there when I made mine. So is that what we decided when there are two numbers? For example with the fan I just listed, the constant draw is 1 amp, but the max is 1.35 amps (as on my sticker)?

well that's what the guy at sidewinder told me. I don't think he was lying, so i'm sticking to it. Worse comes to worse I will change handles out of shame ;)
