Well it happens. This guy got a plea bargain because one juror held out:

Before you act surprised though, think about how many kids aren't so lucky. At least this guy got to enjoy it for 15 years, many of the kids still stuck in the legal system for smoking a joint weren't so lucky; their lives are set back forever.

this isn't recreational or commercial he has a debilitating chronic disease

No one should rot in jail or have their lives ruined for a joint, esp a kid. But it is in my opinion comparing the effects of a pot charge for a joint on someones record to having MS and doing 5 years in prison makes this a sound irrelevant at best

He shouldn't be sorry for what he's done, it's perfectly normal and natural. This is completely fucked up and I hope this ruling will get overturned somehow (although I strongly doubt it). My best wishes to John Wilson, I hope he'll make it through this alright.

I agree, nothing to be sorry for, and cannabis users should not (have to) apoligize for growing or smoking cannabis ..wether you're sick or not. The Law is, wrong not us!!

But, sure it sounds better in court.

I was actually just about to mention, it isn't just sick that the prosecutors and legislators allow this to happen, it's sick that the jury didn't have the balls to declare JURY NULLIFICATION <---- thats term you're looking for me thinks.

Maybe it's not so much that they don't have the balls, but rather that THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE FUCKING IGNORANT AND DUMB AS ROCKS.
