Smiley Box - First PC Grow (38x36x18 cm)

Heya,

so my fans arrived and I finished my box. I only need to finish the scrubber which will be attached outside.

The box is the opposite of 'stealth', but that does not matter as it will be placed in a big wardrobe which will be open when nobody is around and closed when I have company.

To the box:
- 38x36x18 cm grow room (place for two plants with a scrog)
- two 120mm fans with speed controls outside (low - almost cant hear it, high - like a vacuum cleaner)
- one moveable 80mm fan with a on/off switch outside
- 2 cfl's 23W/2500K/1550lm
- duct tape all the way baby

Quick Questions:
- I read that cfl's with higher K (6500) are better for germination and vegetation. What if I run these two states (veg will be short as it can not get too big) with the lights I already have (with 2500K)? Doesn't it work? Does it take longer? If so how long?

- I know you can't have enough light.. but are my two OK? I don't look to get the perfect result the first time, just to learn and some nice G's to re-build the box (or build a bigger one).

I'm already ordered Original Skunk #1, so let's hope the plants will grow and look good.

I'll keep you updated. Cheers!

lol :D

In your case using 2500k instead of 6500k doesn't really make that big difference. You're about to give them short veg so the difference is really unnoticeable. I would atleast double the wats.

the 6500k's are blue spectrum which is great for veg and the soft white 2700k's are for bloom but with cfl's you want to mix the lights up..better spectrum with both sets of lights
if you can put even 1 more light..they say 10,000 lumens per sq foot and 100 watts per sq foot..
either way you will do great bro

My 2 cents worth

My 2 cents worth

Hey there zest, nice to see you having a go mate, I am also waiting on seeds to start my first pc grow.
If I could make a suggestion tho it looks like you have a fan for intake as well as venting....? You need to be careful of having positive air pressure inside the box ie: don't use the intake fan other wise the scrubber will not work and odour will escape via any small gaps etc. Just use a passive air intake and maybe use the other fan and double up on the exhaust fan.
I also agree with BC.. try and get at least 1 more light or higher wattage globes.
Other than that good luck to the both of us. I'll add a pic of my cab, just need to add the srcuber my self.:gday:

Yeah I build it with one exhaust and one intake fan. Both with speed control, so having intake low and exhaust mid-high should work.

I love learning by doing and if it should not work properly I'll keep your tipp in mind and do two exhaust fans and a passive intake.

Good luck to you too!

Ok, I updated the light in the box. Now it have 3x 23W 2500k 1550lm and one 23W 6500K 1395lm.

Seeds are already germinated and planted :) Now waiting to see those little suckers pop out :)

Really exciting.

Small update

Small update

3 days from planting germinated seeds and 18/6.

Plant #1 is doing great, already got rid of the shell and you can slightly see the green of the leaves:

Plant #2, well, I don't know. In the beginning everything went fast and now it seems it does not grow at all. She looks exactly the same as few days ago (I posted a picture) :

Do you think she'll come? And why the bent stem? Bad sign?

I love the progress. Plant #1:

I bury Plant #2 more deeply and see if it'll come back. Root is a joke.

At least #1 is looking good and I can see progress.

Incredible.

Incredible.

I planned to veg 3 plants just to make sure. I planted seed #3 and accidentally destroyed the shell and (I thought) the root. So I just placed the bucket in a open closet until I get the chance to dump the soil.

What happened (1 time watered + indirect light):

Awesome plant!

Yeah, since this is my first grow I'm surprised that it can grow with conditions like that far away from perfect. Truly a forgiving plant.

Now what do you think I should do with that stretched lady? Still trying to veg and flower it?
