Homemade TRIMMER

So, I'm so tired of trimming... Don't want to spend the big $$$ on a trimmer so was thinking of making one my self.

The idea is to take a normal computer (or server) 120mm/5" fan, glue 4 razorblades together (to get a 120mm/5" blade) and gluing that to the fan. Use a normal metal fan grill on that. I would probably have some problems balancing the razorblades on the fan, so it wont vibrate. Not to excited about having the razorblades come of when the fan is on either. I would use proper glue, but still... What you think, totally fucking stupid/suicidal?

Some pics, not sure if I used the right words to explain...

Heheheh, yeah, thats kind of what I'm afraid of

Well, I have a fan, a delta thing, its a beast, I have the blades (I actually still use them, beats Gillette any day) and the grill is like 2$ plus I need to buy the glue. What glue would you go with?
And I'll be in the next room when this contraption is started for the first time, will wear leather glows and heavy winter coat and protective glasses when using it, don't wanna go blind or die just jet

I also have a Delta 120mm fan and a Scythe 120mm. That's a pretty cool idea brother! I like the fan grill too. Genius! Looking at the blades on my fan, I honestly think a razor blade isn't required. Im gonna order a grill and test it out. Thanks for the great idea. Maybe I'll rig something up and post.

Peace

hey bro, umm do it without the razors.

Those fans will rip your finger apart if its a high RPM one, they are also concave finned properly balanced and anything out of wack and the fan will either not work or burn up eventually. There is no need for the razor blades and only adds to make it dangerous.

yeah, as I stated above, I dont think they are needed. Im gonna find a box to screw the fan face down and catch all the trimmings.:)

Just need to use my brain a bit and I'll figure something out.

Edit: I also need to buy a grill, so my finger doesnt end up in the trimming box too. lol

I have seen a big drill bit in a drill mounted to a vice work in a mager something.. never tried it myself.

the fan idea seems to flat to use right, plus you may loose a tip or 2 of your fingers..

I bet modifying a Flowbee would be easier. You could glue the razor blades to the heads, one on the top and one on the bottom so they slide 1/8 inch back and forth when turned on...plus since it hooks to a vacuum, it will suck up the cuttings too...it would probably be cheaper to buy one but IDK how much trimmers go for...?

im not liking the sound of gluing razors come to think of it why not something with strimmer wire less chance of a fatl injury razorblade+eye =....

You may have to remove most of the directional fins on the outward side so it doesn't catch stuff up but you never know, it just might work.

try mounting a weed wacker to a vice and tape the throttle down. Then just push the buds against it. An upside down lawn mower wojuld work too.

id use a metal fan flatten the blades completly then put a small washer intop between the fan and the cage try and keep gap small as possiblethen can jus roll buds over the screen
