vertical aeroponic 2000W

thanks, C, yeah I'm really loving vertical, I'll never look back.
I already have ideas in my head about a closet vertical grow when I shut down the pseudo-commercial op I have going. IMO there's no reason to grow horizontally, really just none at all. vertical is so easy to do, especially if you don't go aero.

got my OZN-jr in yesterday, seems to work great. it was a cinch to install

DAY 42 UPDATE

Beginning of week 7, coming in to the final stretch...
They've put on a LOT of weight this week. They're dense as hell and the buds are getting very large. I'm really happy with how they're coming along. The smell is really strong and sweet, almost exactly like a cantaloupe.
On to the photos...

it's gonna be really strong!

I'll try to get some pics before the lights come on tomorrow.

Nice mate! Looking good! I can't wait to see what the finished total is. K++

I don't know how many times I've answered that question now...

Some clones vegged for almost 2 months while I worked out kinks in the system. I kept them on very low nutes with only 1 light on. Others went only a few weeks.

Next run I plan to increase my yield by vegging 16 plants for only 2 weeks, but training the plants to be farther from the light. One side is perfect on this run, the other vegged waay too long and the plants are too close to the light. I still don't know what the difference in yield will be like, but I'm starting to suspect it's going to be significant.

2 weeks in a well-functioning aero system is a very long time. At the start of this run, I had a lot of issues to deal with, since I just built this thing.

This is an 8 to 10 week strain, which I'll probably be pulling at 8 and a half to 9 weeks. Vegged correctly, that would be 11 weeks from clone. Next run I'm going with an 8 week strain, so that will cut down the time to 10 weeks or a little less.

UPDATE DAY 43
So I said I'd try to get some photos with the flash, and I did. I took over 150 photos, and managed to pull the best 14 or so. It's really tough to get good pics with the lights on, but I got some keepers this time.

There's a little yellowing. I think I forgot to add pH up a few days ago when it was getting a little low - I checked on it and the pH was around 4.9, so I quickly brought it back up, but the damage had been done. Not too bad in the scheme of things.

UPDATE DAY 49

Things lookin good in choco-land. Mostly milky trichs, a few clear and one or two amber.I'll probably give her another week and a half before chop, maybe at 8 and a half weeks. it seems early, but those inner buds are maturing a little faster being so close to the lights, and that's most of the weight.
I'm still considering doing two harvests. Either way it's looking like it's going to be a substantial harvest, at least for a low-yielding strain. I'm having a hard time counting less than 4, so we'll see in a few weeks.

So 4 or 5 clones have started rooting for next round. I almost killed them, I forgot to turn their pump back on after looking at them one day, and didn't check them for 2 days. They were all completely limp, they looked totally dead. But I got the pump back on, re-cut those stems maybe 1/4 inch higher, and 2 days later they're almost completely perked back up, with plenty of shriveled and yellowed leaves, but it seemed to have 'forced' them to root, all but one rooted during those few days.

Tons of pics today, there are a few from yesterday thrown in as well. The yellowing is either from low pH that was mentioned earlier, or more likely from bleaching. All of a sudden a bunch of my buds started bleaching. I turned the A/C down a little, to 74, and moved the buds back a little. Honestly I think they were just swelling toward the light.

Enjoy!

UPDATE DAY 57

Everything's ripening up really well. Still got a few days left on the trichs, harvest probably early next week.
Plenty of pics, no particular order...

Great setup and very tasty looking plants, I've always wanted to try a vertical grow. Nice work you'll have a great harvest!

Been following since the beginning. It's really filling out now bro.

Must be nice to have a grow/jam house. Lucky bastid!

Yeah, it's a great grow/jam house, right up until the end of flowering. Then we can't jam there because of the smell and the other guys in the band... they don't even get high, what you gonna do?

It looks like I'm gonna be pulling them all down this Sunday. It will be 62 days. The trichs aren't quite there, but the buds are really nice and plump, not to mention potent, and there are a lot of other things going on in my life in the next few weeks - these just gotta come down.
The other clones are almost ready to go.
I filled the res with fresh water and added 6tbsp molasses yesterday.

a few notes as it's coming to the endgame...

What I noticed is that my best producers and most uniform plants are definitely the ones that were put in the system after the screen was in. Something about the screen and changes in the nute regimen helped them to stretch out, which is a good thing in this type of system. So for this next run I'm going to have the screen in place very early on. I may even keep the screen I have now, I don't know yet how hard it will be to cut the plants out of there.

The back buds filled out more than I expected them to. I hoped for more, but I expected less than I got. I'm very pleased with the penetration the 1000's provides. There are still lots of bare and dead branches in the back that I couldn't get to, but I don't expect nearly as much of that in the upcoming run.

I noticed that the buds that were around 18 - 20" from the light were just as big and dense as the buds that were 6 - 10" from the light, there was really no difference. any buds 24" away were a little later to develop and didn't get quite as dense or heavy, but that may not be exclusively due to distance.

The area that was about 18"-20" from the light easily had the most uniform carpet of buds with the fewest underdeveloped buds and fewest shadows. This is the area I'm aiming for with the next run. I want the buds to stretch to about 18" from the bulb at the end of flower, so I should probably keep them tucked in the screen (at 24" from the bulb) until it's time to flower, and savagely slice any would-be intruders approaching my target 'canopy gold mine' ;)

For some reason the plants didn't burn early in flower, but began light bleaching a few weeks ago. It got more intense near the end of flowering. Maybe the buds were just getting heavy and leaning in toward the light. I don't know, I shouldn't have had them so close in the first place.

I'm not trying to jinx myself on yield here, but I think 1 gpw would be pretty reasonable given how full it is in there. Next go I'm shooting for 1.5.

DAY 62 UPDATE -- HARVEST DAY

I made the call, right on schedule.
There's a lot of popcorn, just like I suspected, but not quite as much as I had braced for. There was a lot of dead plant matter left over in the screen, too, which I was aware of ahead of time as well.
Overall I'm very pleased with the way the yield looks, I'm completely overwhelmed (see photos). The three of us (partner, old lady & me) trimmed all evening starting around 5 o'clock and barely got through half the pile, and it's a very easy strain to trim.

Like I said there's quite a bit of popcorn, but there's quite a bit of dense bud as well. Nearly every branch has a large cola on top, then a few buds underneath that, then shaded underdeveloped buds under that. I'm only going to weigh what I'm willing to sell as the final total weight (which is pretty much most of it -- including the nicer portion of the popcorn).

I decided to cut the buds out of the screen, rather than cut the screen out of the octagon, at least for this round. It wasn't too bad.

This is a lot of pics...

Here's the final batch of pics of the setup.

This pile is past knee-high and about 4 ft around.

So we trimmed and trimmed and trimmed, and got through roughly half of the pile tonight. Back at it first thing in the morning.

Here's what it looked like after we called it quits:

Anyone care to take a crack at final yield? Last chance!

Eleven of sixteen clones have rooted for next run. It should only be a few days. This time I'm gonna wait for all of them to root before I make any moves.

Should I just stay with this journal, or should I start a new one for the new strain?

More harvest photos ---

Well, we got 'em all trimmed up and hanging. It was a butt-load of work, but you can't really complain too much.

On to the pics...
