Do I need to add other soil amendments to my mix?

after much research I have decided to use a mix of:

Fox Farm Happy Frog
Fox Farm Ocean Forest
Perlite
Vermiculite
Tbsp of Dolomite Lime

So my question is do I need to add any other soil amendments to my mix?

such as:

Greensand
Epson Salts
Blood Meal
Bone Meal
Rock Phosphorous

Are any of these super beneficial or just overkill?

I've always used Vermiculite, but plan on going further without it. It gave me that extra day or two of water holding capability, especially when gone for a few days at the festivals.

I believe the amendments listed above are beneficial to you if you intend to apply mostly water throughout your grow, as what you listed is pretty much on "Burn 1's" organics for beginners thread, which you should read (at least the first 3 pages any way).

Me, I wouldn't use epsom salts in my soil, but that's just my dislike for salts (yes I know just about everything is a salt).

If you are going to fertilize with store bought products such as AN, H&G, PBP or others, then you wouldn't want to use the amendments, or at least use them in smaller quantities, IMO.

If you were to add a little greensand, how much would you add?
A little..........(kidding) Not too much as it is acidic. You have plenty of stuff like kelp to handle some of what greensand offers...That's my 2 cents. I have used it,It's not bad. Adjust according to your other amendments.

Yep, I'd drop the vermiculite and the salt and replace with perlite and dolimite - I'd also replace the blood and bone meal with guanos and sea-weed. I'd also add worm casting (it's one of the best things you can do for your soil) and more sand and rock dust.:trampoline:

Extra Worm Castings

Extra Kelp Meal

Atleast 1.5 TBSP Dolomite Lime/gallon

Only add Greensand, Rock Phosphate if you plan on recycling your mix

do your self a favor and ditch the fox farm soil. You can make your own for cheaper and it wont burn the bat shit out of your girls, and yes I cut the soil before using it. use coco, peat etc as your base.

rock dust
some EWC
I would do I little little little of soft rock phosphate

also are you gonna add humic acid, or seaweed to the liquid feed?

as people said, you don't need the vermiculite in there. but you really don't need much to grow these plants so do whatever your instincts tell you as your the boss at the end of the day..

I think lisdexik hit it spot on and C21 has a good idea. Personally i like bone meal better than guanos but it really depends on if your recycling soil or not. Theres a lot more to nutrients than the available N-P-K. Insoluble nutrients take time to break down by the help of our little friends. This is why recycling is something EVERY organic grower should practice, why throw away perfectly good soil.

Ok so If I ditch the Fox Farms, Do I go with a mix like say:

30% Perlite
30% Cococoir
20% Peat
20% Worm Castings

With soil Amendments added

Dolomite Lime
Bone Meal
Blood Meal
Rock Phosphorus
Kelp Meal
Bat Guano
Seabird Guano
ECT......................

That looks like a much better idea

It's always nice to build your own soil so you know EXACTLY what YOU put in, which results is a more dialed in approach. Especially when feeding bottle nutes.

Why not just make it easier on yourself and go like this

1 part EWC
1 part peat
1 part coco
1 part perlite

It seems like you have a pretty good idea what you want to ammend with

I would recommend including alfalfa meal and glacial rock dust in your ammendment list. This will help your soil develop over time as you recycle.

Thanks for that, yeah I'm figuring that out; So then Pura Vida Organics Grow & Bloom would be good then right? It is OMRI listed......

I don't think the pura is "organic" anymore, or should I say was

have you looked at bio-canna for liquid nutes?
