And the typical stoner is a fat lazy slob that lives in his mom's basement with no motivation, amirite?

There are assholes in every profession on the globe, but that doesn't mean all, or even most, are assholes.

Generalization is bad.

What did you see as excessive force here, by the way?

I once opened a fortune cookie which read, "All generalities are false." and I still have it.

that boy was watching to many cops episodes and he acted liek he was swallowing crack.

def his fault, but fuck you pigs regardless.. no sense in tazing people when you got 40000 cops around.. they are always looking for a reason to pull those things out and use'em

all those cops around and ya taze some lil skinny guy, thats ridiculous. but ya know the cop that did that will have to live with that forever tazing a fella that was dying. but also did ya see the scrapes on his face when they pushed his head against the pavement, thats so wrong....we see people who kill who get treated better thats not right

100% agree... The law killed him, not the law enforcement officers.

agree with this.

anyway,
some years ago like in 2006 or something,
I ate a huge huge piece of meat without thinking much , unintentionally obv. just been hungry a lot ,
so after a few secs I see the huge piece just got stuck , so suddenly i couldn't breathe anymore.
I went apeshit scared ! I seriously thought this was OVER for me!
From the table I went somehow to the toilet, to try something with water or whatever, this was my instinct, been there something like 30sec to max 1 min, and something made me go back to the table.
there were lots of people around, was a public place.
everyone was like wtf, but nobody knew what to do? holy fuck, I thought it was over, the thing didn't want to go down or up, or anywhere and I was suffocating.

Going back to the table some person that saw what was happening , told me to leave him grab my chest.

At this point i was very much near out of oxygen,
so he used that thing (I can't remember what it's called)

basically the same the cops were trying to do with this guy

only difference is it WORKED with me, as I somehow 'puked' the thing out of my mouth after he squeeze hard on my chest a few times.

If that guy , in that time wasn't there, I wouldn't be here today.
Nobody knew what to do, and I would suffocate without him.
He saved my life.

Let me tell you it's beyond terrible , the worst worst feeling ever.

i agree with what the more sensible people have been saying, the fault lies upon the law itself, and society's view of cannabis a 'dangerous drug'. i don't see how it is the policemen's fault, they where hired to do a job, which in this case was protecting the woman he was 'beating' on, depending on the degree of the beating, the taser may or may not have been justified. if you want to be mad about something, get angry at the unjust law and lack of cannabis education in america. just my two cents.

George--Could you please elaborate on this statement? As a certified EMT I find it fascinating you were required to perform a tracheotomy to pass 11th grade.

Fascinating but a bit hard to swallow...

You had to learn how to perform a tracheostomy to pass 11th grade?? Wow !! I guess medical school and a surgical residency are just a big waste of time.
I don't want any cops hacking away at my throat thank you very much!!

Wow, sometimes you write something in a thread and never look at it again to see you posted some asinine shit :D

Sorry about that guys, I wish a shenanigans popup would alert me :)

To clarify, I had to be CPR and First Aid certified to pass the 10th grade. We were taught, at length because she thought it was important, to memorize all the steps and procedure of performing an emergency trac as a last effort to try and save someones life.

She said that when you can't stop you're mom from choking and just watching her die, at least you have 1 thing you can try.

And yes, i would want someone to try and do that for me if I was dying as I really don't want to die.

But no I am NOT trained to do anything of the sort,. Just know about it and figure a cop should as well.

make sense?

How about a little accountability for ones actions guys?? Seems almost everyone here wants to point the finger.. at the cops... at the law...or whatever. Fact of the matter he shouldnt have been riden dirty (yeah the laws need serious adjustment but..), beat on a chick, kept a fucking plastic bad in his mouth while fighting the cops.. so on and so on. Point of my rant is that this is the gay porn guys fault. not anyone else. It sucks to see it happen to anyone. Clearly he wasnt using his head. what Im more pissed about is how the news reporter made it sound like the cops ended up on the short end with their (hurt wrist and bruises). This guy lost his fucking life and he made it sound like a minor fucking side note. I hate the media

I hate cops...I really do--
That being said, I see nothing here that they done wrong--
This guy knew that a bag of pot wasn't going to get him into Prison...but he was obviously out of control with his emotions...hence the pushing around of his female companion--
He made some really bad choices...one of those killed him--
Sad indeed--

wheres the compassion fellas.... I had to bury a friend that battled cancer for 6 years today. Imagine what his family is going threw he swallowed a bag of weed and is no longer here if you have anything bad to say keep it to yourself.

Yeah I think tazing a guy for swallowing a bag of weed is excessive.
You Dont?

You'd have a point if that was actually the reason they tased him. Unfortunately, that's not why they tased him. Did you even watch the video?

He is on the ground, struggling with 3 officers trying to handcuff him. He pushes up off the ground, and manages to roll over. The officers then disengage, and deploy the taser as he lunges off the ground in the officers direction.

They didn't tase him because he swallowed weed, they tased him because he was fighting, and doing so actively, and successfully. In order to effect the arrest, they moved up the use of force continuum, to the taser.

Now, you cry that is too much, but that just shows your lack of knowledge. Fact is, before the Taser was in use, the next step they would have taken would have been to the baton. So, in effect, when you cry about the Taser, you're basically saying they should have beaten him with steel sticks instead.

Cops don't get paid to fight, they get paid to enforce the laws. In the course of that, they have to make arrests. There is no provision in the law that says the suspect should expect a fair fight. There's no reason for an officer to give an offender a fighting chance.

You fight the arrest, they use physical force, in the form of pain compliance. This includes the use of joint locks and pressure points. You can even see the deputy at the guys head attempting to seat his thumb in the brachial nerve point behind the jawbone. He misses, but it clearly shows what level of force they officers were using, and it is, indeed, reasonable.

If that fails, as it CLEARLY did in this case, you move to the next step that is least likely to cause permanent injury. Fortunately, these officers had the option of using a Taser, instead of a steel rod. They deployed that in an escalation of force that was totally warranted.

Option one failed, move to option two.

People complain about the scratches on his head, well guess what? You decide to throw down in a concrete parking lot, you better expect a few scratches. If you decide to take on three guys in a concrete parking lot, you'd better expect more than that.

If he'd gotten into a fight with anyone else, and walked away complaining about those scratches, you'd call him a pussy to his damn face. But because it is the cops, and the guy had weed, suddenly it's a horrific injury.

Gimme a break.

Might want to zip up there, your unreasoning hate is showing.

I have compassion ,

But this guy didn't have much of a Brain .
And the Cops always get the blame all the time .
I see the cops trying there best to save this guys life .

And I think that if they had stood by and waited, when the guy was in obvious distress and begging for help, they'd be crucified for standing by and doing nothing while a man died right in front of them.
