What's new

Has anyone used this fan Valueline 6 Inch Centrifugal Inline Fan?

Can you elaborate on that? I ask because I have an EcoPlus and wouldn't mind learning about it.

The EcoPlus can not use a speed controller, like the speedster for example. So the speed can not be adjusted. The Valueline can be speed controlled. What else do you want to know? I don't know much about the EcoPlus fans, i know a few people who use them but i have never had one myself i'm just telling you what i do know about them.

The EcoPlus seem to produce more vibration and noise from what people have said. I can't verify that for sure though as i have not tested them side by side. I'm sure someone else who owns the EcoPlus can give their input.

The only other difference i have noticed is that the EcoPlus doesn't seem to come with a warranty, atleast i wasn't able to find any info regarding a warranty on it. The Valueline comes with a 5 year warranty i believe. The Valueline also can be found for a little cheaper, $79.90 from plantlightinghydroponics, the Eco Plus i have found for about $108 or so.

I was hoping for an explanation on how an EcoPlus is different, mechanically. As in, an EcoPlus uses such-and-such type of electric motor that doesn't lend itself to variable speed while the Valueline uses a different type.

I've tried a speedster on my 6" 440cfm EcoPlus and the commutator does whale unacceptably when the speed is turned down. I'd like to know if other fans use motors of a type that don't use commutators or a different type of commutator or what.

Ok, i was kind of confused by what exactly you were asking but i personally don't know how they are different mechanically. All i know is they are different, you would have to search on here or ask someone who knows more than i do about the Eco Plus fans. Like i said, i know a few people who use them but i have never owned one myself so i don't know much about them, sorry.

UPDATE:

A while back i noticed CAP and plant lighting had different cfm ratings listed... so i investigated..

Turns out there was miscommunication between CAP and PL and everything is okay now.. no reduced CFM's on the valueline fans and prices are the same.

I think it's brushless fans that don't like to be hooked to a controller. Maybe that's it.

For whatever it's worth....

I thought most or all of the inlines we use for growing use brushless induction motors [shrug].

I recently emailed Vortex about what type of motors their fans use and they definitely use brushless induction.

Hmph. Then perhaps the opposite is true, or maybe neither. IDK, but I remember reading something at sometime about it.

These C.A.P. inline fans are sweet, had one for almost a year now. 90 bucks for the 435cfm and its just as quiet my other inline fan that was more than double this price. I'm about to buy another one.:jump:

I still don't have mine running yet but I will probably in about a week or so. Picked up a Can 9000 to go with it.

I'm glad I found this thread. I've been doing a lot of research and I think I'm going to go with a Valueline 6" 435cfm, Carbonaire 6" Carbon Filter, and a Speedster fan controller to cool my 1000w in my 4.5x4.5x7 SunHut Silver.

My method was similar to yours SweetIndica. As long as I can control my environment with my setup, I'm up for any sort of variation of where and how to place all the peripherals.

To obtain minimal noise, I'd think the best thing to do would to place the fan after the reflector, having it push air through the filter and out the ducting.

I want to cool my 1000w (not sealed) in my tent all by using the fan through the scrubber. Definitely doable, will just require experimentation. That, I'm good at :D

im in the market for a new 4" inline fan. So the eco plus can't be speed controlled? didnt know that. Anyone know if the active air fan can be speed controlled?

I would not hesitatet to recommend a Valueline inline fan... I have had my 8in for over year and no problems, I also have a 8inch vortex (older model). And it seems very similar to the vortex. It seems C.A.P. does this with alot of there products. (based theirs off specs of already made product from another manufactor). Also with the 5yr warranty and it being fairly a recognizable brand you should get warranty honored easily anywhere.... not sure ur exact application but would recommed go bigger than smaller now so u dnt need to later, but the 4in inline does move a good amount of air! peace

thanks for the info but even 4" is overkill for this cab, but they dont make them any smaller. I just need something for my mother/clone cab which is like 2'x3'x3'. gonna use it with a homemade 4" carbon filter.

That is a small cab jimbo. You might want to consider a 38mm computer fan instead. Those things are powerful and would be enough for the dimensions you list.

i need to pull through a carbon filter though. I actually just finished the cab. Its just a little ikea style cabinet that i cut 4 little intake vents with pvc elbows and 1 exhaust vent in and hung 6 cfls in. Right now i hooked it up with a 6 inch duct booster fan from home depot and am pulling through the 4" home made filter with that (with 4-6" reducer) and in my little test run the 6" booster fan cant keep the temps down. I need something with enough power to pull through the filter.

Gotchya but those Deltas have a good deal of static pressure which is what you'd need to get through the filter. I have my 4" in a 2x6x7 space and it's overkill.

I ended up going with a Phat Filter instead of the Carbonaire. The Phat filters seem to be well liked among growers, and according to what i have read they last longer than the Carbonaires. Not to say the Carbonaire isn't a bad filter, but the Phat seemed like a better deal for about the same price.

I'm still waiting for it though, they said it would be a few weeks but it should be here soon since i ordered it over a week ago. It's a pain that it's taking so long to start this run, but i decided to make a new and improved room and upgrade all my equipment while i'm at it. It will be more than worth it though, i'm just impatient lol.

I am glad I stumbled on this thread, I picked up the Carbonaire and 6" Valueline off of Plantlighting for only like $220 SHIPPED. What a great company, I just may go through them for all my needs from now on. BGhydro is just so goddamn expensive.

thanks guys.
