Mycorrhizal fungi, where do you get it?

C

CT Guy

Hey, wanted to find out where people were sourcing their myco and what types and prices were out there.

Seems from my research that the best myco product for cannabis is the Mycorrhizal Applications soluble MAXX, but that runs around $55/lb.

Thoughts?

If I was going to use AM fungi I would cultivate my own and inoculate my media with live Am fungi propagules like spores, hyphae, infected host roots and media, etc. Hell, if someone started selling live AM fungi propagules that would go like freaking hot cakes!

CTGuy, you could so easily do that, and sell them as liquid culture or moist soil. All it takes is about a 50/50 mix of compost and vermiculite in 5 gallon buckets (or larger) under a T-5 with Zea mays or other grasses. I have links to sources for live AM propagules of Glomus mosseae and G.intraradices; those two are the most versatile of the common AM fungi used (AFAIK). Or you could buy a commerical freeze dried spore product and grow them.

I would not buy any product with Trichoderma spp.

And I could offer any assistance to you guys you might need from me, if I had any technical info you need (which is doubtful, you know your stuff).

I do not know of a single company who sells such a product. And you could also include ectomycorrhizal fungi too like you often suggest. I have spoken to my local hydro stores and ag stores, all want to stock such a product. I foresee it selling like nobodies business, not only to cannabis growers but to anyone who wants to use AM fungi like big farms, etc.

@ CTGuy,

It's best to not buy micronized freeze dried AM fungi spore products (like powders) becuase it tends to lower germination count by inuring the spores.

I have used "MycoApply® Endo/Ecto" (it is free from Trichoderma spp.) from the same company selling the MAXXX.

I have also used the other product "Rooter's Mycorrhizae" that THC Decapitator suggested (it is free from Trichoderma spp.);the Roots product has more genera and species than the MycoApply Endo/Ecto.

I can't say if either worked or not.

I just bought Great White premium myco powder from the local hydro huff store. It's got about thirty types of endo\ecto spores and bacteria. It was $40 for 4 0z. and the dude there said DON'T BUBBLE IT...so I guess I'll add it at the end of the tea? Or is the hydro guy wrong? As I have a commercial grade compost tea brewer (not micro bubbles), and have brewed tea in the past with what I think are great results? I don't have a microscope yet..

Hey CC,

Thanks, but I mean which product of the grandular and the micronized? They offer a few different mixes of each, ex. some are only AM fungi, some are AM fungi and ectomycorrhizal fungi and some are AM fungi, ectomycorrhizal fungi and Trichoderma spp..

All the best

When we use freeze dried and as MM says it takes a while to grow.........so when we recycle the soil and EVERYTHING that is sequestered in the media is pasted along t the next batch including the Mycos.

Is my assumption correct?

Sorry about that!!!!!!!!!

I buy the MycoApply Endo or their MycoApply Micronized Endo

As of yesterday, my supplier was not carrying the MAXX product that CT Guy specifically asked about.

That product from Down-To-Earth is manufactured by the company in Grants Pass, Oregon that we're talking about - Mycorrhizal Applications.

Their products are also in Fox Farms, Roots Organic and several others.

Well, cool then! I also use their soluble Mycor. Great product!

Are all endo/ecto products basically the same? Or are their better ones?
