Reputation virus on ICmag

I got hit a few days ago with a positive rating for one of my posts and my Rep bar jumped to the highest it goes. A couple days later it was all gone, including all the Rep that I earned through the years. I sent a PM to the mod who I suspect took it all away wondering if I could get back the rep I've earned. He won't respond. Anyone else aware of this problem? Is there a way to get the reputation that I earned back? Seems kind of messed up that they just suck away all my green bars like that without even saying a quick "hi, sorry we had to do that there's no other way". It's not my fault I got hit with a positive rating and got hit with the virus.

sometimes there's glitches with the rep i've given negative rep by accident like 3 times, even though i KNOW i gave positive... i know that's not what you're talking about, but i get it... oh well though, clean slate right?

I would be pissed too, Icough's rep was around what cork144's reputation is, before one person gave him rep that sent his reputation score sky high, in the event of that a mod took it all away.

iSmokeTrees, hmm because you've worked so hard to get it up to that??????? I mean you take a good amount of time to log grows and take time to perfect your pictures. To get as much reputation as Icough had, it takes a good chunk of your time. Its not easy to get a lot of reputation (at least thats the way it was back in 04, 05, and 06, haven't logged too much since then). Its not the be all to end all, but he did work to get his reputation up and then all of a sudden the next day it was gone. I've watched him earn his reputation from back in 04 and its taken years to get where he did. I think its messed up and I'm not Icough.

while rep is not really meaningful in judging someones character, it is something that has been earned...and given by ones peers...not a damn thing wrong w wanting it back...it doesnt make one vain...i always look at that part when talking w someone, and it at least gives me an IDEA of what someone has going for them....just like lack of rep does not mean someone doesnt deserve it....but i would want mine back too and c-to-go deserves it...so here ya go...

Thank you tokinsmokin and subrob I couldn't have explained it better. On a list of things for me to worry about this is low but it just doesn't seem right. I thought there might be a solution to fix it but I guess I'll build it back up if I have to.

So what you are saying is that the only reason you post or make grow logs is to get other people's approval? Why try for 100% on a test unless the teacher gives you a gold star? You can post grow logs to help people, to help your growing through scientific analysis and other people giving you pointers, but why care if someone pats you on the back? If you really were concerned about helping people you wouldn't give a shit about being paid back in gold stars, you do it because it just makes you feel good that you did.

Seriously, why care? For the most part rep is a circle jerk. One person gives someone good rep and a lot of people tend to find a post from that person and then give them rep in return, despite whether they made an excellent post or not.

Same thing goes for the holiday pet contest, it's just a friends pissing contest. People private message their 1000 friends to go vote for them to win, even if their pet isn't the funniest/best looking photo.

As long as their is voting, it will be fucked. Whether it is icmag rep or Florida hanging chads.

Although it looked like the ugliest dogs made the top, DG was the judge for that contest. No public poll...

The guy with the cute cat, with the lights wrapped around it, didnt even get an honorable mention. And that cute little dappled dachsy got the last honorabe mention, which is like 8th place. It should have been called, the most awkward looking pet photo competition.

I would not agree with that. I was one of the entries and all of the them where winners I did not win she just was nice to give extra prizes. This was the 2nd contest I entered the first was the Halloween contest and that was a poll. Since it was her contest she makes the rules and chooses the winners and it was a holiday theme contest.
