150w HPS Club and Resource Guide......

Yo PD, You get more mileage outta that pic than I got outta my vehicle....and I am at 200k miles!

loves it when u bust out the DARE ruler shot!

It really doesn't take long to get a 150 system properly dialed-in, and once you do, a single user will not be able to out-smoke it. Now if you plan to sell or share with a group, that's a different story. However if you remove that possibility from the equation, is additional cost of buying one, the added expense of running it, and the headache of dealing with all of the excess heat it generates really worth it? Like greenhead said... 429 pages, hundreds of users, and one of the most viewed Marijuana Growing Threads on the web all point to "NO". Not everyone out there is a Rosenthal, Cervantes, or Gypsy. Many of us are realistic of our individual needs and try to stay focused on them.

Here's a bud from one of six plants all grown at the same time under a single 150w HPS......

Looks real nice Pipedream...congrats on getting everything dialled in well enough to produce that beautiful bud.
I think a 150 is a great way to easily keep enough to smoke even with friends...and with careful planning a great variety and continuous harvest can be had.

You have set the bar high...well done!

I fully agree. My first run with a 150 got me 4.65 ounces 60 days from seed with an AF strain. That would be enough to last me another 60 days while the next batch grows, let alone how much easier I could get by with a perpetual non AF grow.

Dialing in a 150 will get you much more than you need as PD said, but even on the first try you should do excellent if you know what you are getting into or have grown before.

My results from my very first 150w grow:

Now the 250 I have going in my closet will definitely give me more bud. I got roughly 16g dry per plant under my 150 and I plan to get over an ounce dry off each under my 250. But the heat issues and space needed for the 250 do reduce stealth, ease of use, electric efficiency, etc.

So what did I do?? I slapped my 150 right next to it for shits n tickles!! The temps went up MAYBE 2 degrees on average.

So dont let anyone tell you that a light wont work as well for you than another. Or that heat issues will ruin your life. Any HID 150w or higher will give you bud that makes the crap you buy in town look like grass clippings. If done right, you can get more than youll ever need off a small bulb, or grow with a larger one and profit a bit. This thread is proof alone that a 150 can be great for anyone.

Is there a thread with rough return on investment with a 150HPS? What is the low, med high range of dry weight product at the end of the cycle? Is it me or does most of the 150 crop look like popcorn budz?

I just pulled in 3 oz off 3 plants under a 150w on my first try indoor, plus I had to chop a week earlier than expected because the wife's family was coming over and she was paranoid. It is quite possible to pull in some decent weight without affecting your electricity bill too much every month

Yah I'm kind of proud of myself, I'm not what you call a carpenter. I already had the hps, fan and carbon scrubber so invested about $100 in the lumber and hinges etc. I just couldn’t deal with my old cab. Fiberboard from Wal-Mart just doesn’t last. This new one is sturdy as fuck!

the plant thats all scroged up is a c99 x a11

2 sheets of 1/2 inch plywood =

Very nice, zappa66. I'm not a carpenter either but you're a good cabinet designer/maker. I like heavy-duty. The cannabis looks great too, what a cross!

Wow DB, what a prime example of a fully utilized screen. The only problem is...."You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to DiscoBiscuit again" :badday::badday::badday: haha!! What do you expect to yield from that screen?

Keep up the kick ass work guys!

thanks, d3ni005:D

DB, some questions:

1. How many plants is that?
2. I don't really understand the 'let them grow a bit them pull em through' and how to direct the shoots to fill the screen though I am almost upon a first for scrog, can you explain in more detail how to in your own words?
3. Can you take a few pictures of the cab from various angles and also under the screen i.e. from the screen down so I can see the stalks etc? (just want to see :))
4. Any others tips for achieving a scrog like yours under a 150HPS?

Thanks man :)

It's one plant.

Depends on the screen hole size. Allow growth tips to grow longer than the next square. Push the tip back through the same hole and the next square will hold it down. You don't have to weave, just force the plant to grow under the screen.

For more pics, check out the sig links. Here's the cab thread under my old member name:

This is only my first scrog. IMO, use more than a single plant if you want shorter veg times. Leggy strains will probably work easier. This one has close nodes and was a bitch to train.

Hi guys! :tiphat: Overgrow refugee here. Haven't posted on a site since overgrow got shutdown. This looks and feels like home so I'm aboard the 150 HPS club. Here's my ladies at day 54 of 12/12. Gonna go 70+, a ways to go still. 3 plants total, seeds came from a cross I made from an unknown bagseed I got in LasVegas many moons ago. Out of 3 seeds, 1 survived and was female and was super duper potent and has a strong rose flower smell mixed with the smell of fruity pebbles cereal. I have kept that plant alive for years and years through reveg and cloning as I will never let it die! I took a white widow male and let him bust a nut all over the unknown Vegas female plant to produce seeds. These plants are the outcome of that cross.
