Which one should I pick 400MH or LED Procyon? Or should I not get either and buy something else?

Are these good for veg and flower? or will i need 2 different lights?

thanks for the help

not enough on leds, the cheap ones wont cut it ,get digital if you can most will run mh and hps nextgen is a fair deal the 600 is lite weight air cooled 5 year warranty and about 250 dollars.
if led is your thing go that route .i personally wouldnt .I gave my leds to my kids they love them plants didnt .cheap leds suck, good ones are way to pricey.go with the proven for yeild and quality.I would get t-5 over led as well .if you got 3500 plasma mite be an option

it was 600 for led I was just thinking this because I heard it saves money on electricity. I heard its good for veg stage but not the flower. So i think that's a no go on led. Sorry I really dont know that much about lights yet. Which would you recommend that i can use on both veg and flower? and somewhat saves power? I can spend on in the 600 range.

it will work ok; you really want a conversion metal halide bulb and a ballast that can run both hps and mh.... that being said they're very common and the ballast, reflector, and two bulbs will be cheaper than the led light fwiw

thing that sucks about led is that if an array or bulb goes out its a lot harder to get it fixed than changing out the bulb or ballast; also 400watt bulbs and ballasts are very common so its best to get one locally at a hydro store if possible so in the case of it ever breaking, you'll be surprised at how often it happens, they can swap u out a replacement no problem

thanks opt1c. im pretty sure it runs both hps and mh. That being said I have no clue what either of them are. I'm new to growing marijuana first grow, I know how to grow but lights im clueless. Is one for veg and the other for flower????

thanks for the help

i like ushio with any digital ballast but its just a matter of preference.... i doubt you'll find anyone on the boards with anything bad to say about an ushio bulb though... very solid construction... you can shake it around and nothing inside moves; no so much with other brands; you'll feel the filament vibrating or something to that effect... they are 10-20 dollars more but when u look at how important bulbs are to growing i think they pay for themselves

I think you're over stressing yourself. This is supposed to be fun. No matter how well you read and plan, you're going to end up trying different things over the years where you end up with extra or spare parts. It's unavoidable.

You do NOT need to mix and match lamps to various growing stages. Many do entire grows with a single type (be it MH, HPS, CMH, CFL...) An $80 lamp will NOT give you 4 times the production of a $20 lamp. The increase in production will be closer to 5%-10%. As a first timer, I'd suggest you stick to name brands, keep it simple, grow out a few plants and then ask yourself if you really need to max out the credit card and workload for a couple extra joints per plant.

thanks everyone. You're right freezerboy, I'm just that type of person that likes to be over prepared. It's going to be fun learning experience
