At least I got most of my stations in HD. My friend got a really nice large LCD, something like 46 or 52 inches but hes still hooked up to shit basic cable w/o any HD so hes still getting the crap-o-vision 480 lines stretched across his screen which makes everything look grainy compared to HD.

Thanks for all the advice, I'd have preferred a set in that
upper price range of Samsungs, Sony's, & Toshiba's but this
set is fine for my TV/DVD viewing needs. I saw alot of great
720p sets on display, in one case it was the nicest picture of
all the sets I saw that night, in any case thanks again.......

Congrats man, hook up the rabbit ears lets see what's floating thru the air. The UHF Antennas are the best for HD TV.
Sometimes you need to enter the channels like 1 - 100 but try 2.1 or 2.2 or 7.3 or 7.2 or 65.3 etc.

and so here it is 1.5 years after getting my set it develops a dark streak on the screen, I bought an extended warranty and they send a repair man who calls it a loss. Soon after they call with an offer to replace the Sanyo w/another Sanyo which I declined, they mentioned a couple of other sets (Vizio etc) and until they offered me the Sony Bravia KDL-46V5100 I was wondering if I was going to be let down by the store & warranty. It's a nice step up from the Sanyo with the easiest onscreen programming imaginable.
The Bravia is awesome & I'd recommend these sets to anyone wondering what to buy, I should've dropped the extra $200 or so to begin with and bought one.......

Agree btw for whats its worth.. I'm currently in the market for a new telly, and everything I've viewed thats been really good has been Samsung, Sony or LG.. it's worth spending a little extra for a quality model..

i dont know what the new LGs are like, but the buddy had 1, he got some bad shadows when watching the football,,then broke and got the good old black screen,,(not even 2 year old)

when i worked at BestBuy we got an average of 2-3 bravias returned everyday that needed to be shipped back to SOny for repair. it was mostly the bravia 32inchers though, and this was back in 2006 so maybe they fixed them.
either way, im rocking a Samsung 40 LCD that i bought back in 2006 still runs with no problems. *knocks on wood*.....i paid 1300 for it back in 2006 when the retail was 1800, now you can get this for like 699 at walmart lol.

Ask them if you can step up to a KDL-46W5100, you'd be a lot happier.
Always best to wait and save more to buy a better tv than go with an inferior model. Sony or Samsung for LCD, Panasonic for plasma.

you just would not believe how many TV's(and other shit!) that people give away in contest. I have won three(TV's) in the last year, the most recent, last month a radio station was giving one away and to enter all you had to do is text(some you have to enter online) and you could text as much as you wanted... so I did, all day and I won. Everything I have ever won was do to relentless persistence and a little assistance(my wife).
1000's of contest for all kind of shit online and if you spend some time on the internet anyway, it's right up your alley. Google contest!

it's a done deal already w/the new set delivered and set up for me. it's getting to be close to 30 days and they haven't picked up the old Sanyo (still works w/decent picture) which as stated has a dark spot on the screen. It will be my spare set (in my RV) unless they call/write me very soon.
