Iolite Portable Vaporizer

They replaced the old plastic stem piece with metal...I think that's what you're talking about. I bought an Iolite today and the guy took my stem off and gave me one from a different box that has a metal end. He said they realized that mistake and now they make that piece metal.

My unit works good, I'm just not much of a vaper....or I'd be more exited about it. I just love to smoke, what can I say? This is the first vaporizor I have owned, so I'm not a great judge...but I'm really high, I can say that.

As I stated in an earlier post, my Iolite stopped working a few months ago, so I had to return it under warranty. That was about a month ago, it seems, and I've yet to see or hear anything. Does anyone know how long it takes them to repair/send out a new unit on a warranty issue?

Everything that I've heard is that they're quite fast considering you have to ship to Ireland. Do you have a tracking # to ensure they received it OK?

Just curious, did you clean the bejeesus out of it before shipping?

Unfortunately, couldn't be tracked since it was going out of the country (at least, that's what the friendly USPS person told me). And yes, I did clean the shit out of it...and it wasn't easy, and it still isn't perfect, but about as close as you can get. Plus, I didn't send in the stem or anything, just the base unit, which means less to clean.

Well keep us posted. Surely they could answer your email?

Yeah, I haven't tried that yet. I guess that's my next step. Just wanted to get a rough idea, to see if I was jumping the gun a bit.

I'm a gun jumper. It takes a week-ten days to arrive there. I've mostly read where people were impressed with the speed of repair.

Its funny how a few weeks turns into a few months before we know it. LOL I just looked back at the thread and it has been a while. Most warranty issues I've seen mentioned were handled in a much more expedient fashion than yours. It'll probably show back up tomorrow. I just had an order of beans come in and my mind told me it took a month. It was actually 2 1/2 weeks, but when you're waiting, it seems like it's forever. I feel your pain bro... I'd be a rather sour pickle if mine went kaflooie. Keep the faith..

Okay, my stem piece broke off the metal screw in to the herb chamber....I have e-mailed Iolite 2 times and they will not get back to me!!!!

Seriously for $250, they should at least fling me a message back. Damn.

That's the first time I've heard of one of the metal stems breaking. I got only the plastic ones with mine and they've never failed. I guess I'm just lucky.

that actually happened to mine to. It's sort of a pain in the ass. The threads get stuck from the vapor resin and, without something to grab, it's hard to get that fucker out. You should try to turn it on for 5-10 mins to heat that resin, then try needle nose pliers or hemos to grab it and turn it out. If that doesn't work, you can take the actual bowl piece a part at the seam that runs down the middle and get to it that way. Then I bought a replacement stem from the head shop downtown and it's all good now.

Cold resin is like glue. If you torque on it with pliers and it breaks don't be surprised. Heat it up like WJ said.

The new metal inserts are very durable. Maybe they figure you shouldn't contact them when it's likely user error that broke it. Just order up new ones from one of many places.

this looks great but its unfortunate it has durability issues

I've had mine for over 6 months with flawless operation. As a matter of fact, I'm sitting here stoned out of my gourd after vapin up with half dozen friends... went thru about 8 bowl consecutively and everyone was baked. Most people that have problems with them, do something stupid to lead to the problem. I hope I'm not jinxing myself and have it break tomorrow, but if it did, I'd buy another one.

I have a Herbal Aire for home use but would love a portable vaporizer I could carry with my in my disc golf bag and have for on the go medication needs.

That's one of the things I love about the Iolite. Portability was my main motivation. I would like to get an Extreme digital for home, but still don't like the idea I have to be 'plugged in' to the wall to get high. And regarding your apprehensions about durability, I'm not exactly reckless with mine, but it's taken some shots and drops with no damage or ill effects.

A quick update on my warranty repair: It's been about 2 months (or more) since I mailed mine in...I contacted them and they told me they had it, but that it was still being worked on. That was a month ago. Supposedly the delay is because they started up a new customer care center, or something, so now I have to contact them instead of the person I've been in contact with for a month. So I emailed them a week ago, and nothing yet. I'm seriously starting to get pissed.

I'm with Maynard. I love the portability and I've left mine out in rain, etc. Fairly robust, I'd say. I'm getting a second one in case #1 goes out on me.

K.J what they're doing is BS. REally BS. I'd be pissed.

KJ, ur scarin' me.. I hate the thought of having to ever send mine off for service, but when and if I do, I'll just buy another one to have to use while my other one is being repaired. Good luck man.. I'm hopin things come around for you.

mgk :)
