Lemelemeleme Upgrade, A story of young ladies sharing a room

It's funny, as a former Floridian, your hanging-tree pics remind me of the photos of deep-sea fisherman with their record-breaking catch hanging at the docks.

Some guys catch bass, some guys catch snapper -- you harpoon killer whales!

You missed a little bit of leaf there :D

Hmmmm, 12oz? It's hard to tell but I'd say you hit it with that one there anyway. We're rootin' for ya anyway dude - we'd all love to see you pull the 12 off of 'em.

*does some math* ..... *chokes* ..... it's fucking GREAT to see this man - really fucking great. Totally inspiring stuff.

nice plant...
trying to get them that big, before flowering...
prefer wide to tall...

that size can be standard to get bigger from...
seems like minimum girth for a 'tree' plant... ~1 cubic meter of plant mass/matter.
excluding stem/stalk/stretched shoots...

were any fan leaves culled during the grow?
found that they like to have their leaves...

keep having fun! & getting them bigger!

enjoy your garden!

Hey Hydrosun, I've followed this thread from the get-go, and I often return to your hanging-tree pics for inspiration. But I got confused somewhere along the way (cough, cough)...After you took out the UC and replaced with the garbage cans, what is your trees-per-light ratio? 1 to 1? 1 to 2? Do you have any 5-gal buckets alongside the 20-gal monsters?

And given your dislike for the Sure-to-Kill and the factory air stones, etc., have you considered giving the UC another shot with hydroton and Boss Hogs?

They Can't All Be Trees

They Can't All Be Trees

Well actually they can and that is the whole point of my grow, but here is a small PK, two small OG (only one pictured), a small SnowDawg, and a small Maja.

Those 5 gal buckets look really funny on the floor next to the 20gal Brutes. What funny is telling me GROW BIG OR GO HOME! So for those of you following this you should try 32gal Brutes or bigger.

Onto questions, but it is taking me an hour to make this post so I'm a little stoned ;)

Mistress: There were not any leaves taken off the Sensi Skunks because they had a lot of light hitting every part of the plant. But I do take leaves off some plants to let light hit lower buds.

Ancientmariner: My tree per light ratio will be 2 trees per one light once the the little buckets get out of the upgrade room. The subject of this post is the little buckets along the big ones, however I want to add the casters to the Brutes because they are a little too low for me right now.

So that was about 90 mins to do so I'm done.

Peace, :joint:

I just finished reading this log and will continue to follow. Honestly, these types of journals are what made me decide I want to move out west someday soon and join the community. I dream of the day I can finally contribute and help spread the knowledge of this wonderful herb! Until then though, I will lurk these forums while your journals entertain me.

Silly me, I already have two 40-something-gallon Brutes on casters and I'm using them for actual garbage!

I can see where you wouldn't want to mix sizes; I was just wondering if you saw diminishing returns because it might be hard to get even light coverage with two monster trees next to each other. With 2 girls, each 3' in diameter, no matter how you configure them you have to cover at minimum a 3x6 space. Will you use any kind of light mover, or is that the point of the casters?

lookin good in here bro..keep on with the brutes.

def the gig..

as far as gettinlights on them tress im sure yer runnin enough light to get to all the plants..

WTF? Well, I am glad you found them.

And if you compost your organic trash, then you will need an even smaller trash can for your trash.

I used to live in CO, and when I did, I too had a yard. But now I don't, and I don't.

And although I do own two large Brutes w/casters, I was trying to be funny...guess I failed.

I'm already locked in to my current setup, a dozen WaterFarms, and need to see that through before changing horses...but Hydrosun makes it look so easy -- and productive -- to go bigger and bigger that I can't help but ponder gradually switching over to his technique. For ex, swapping out 6 WFs for 2 Brutes when this batch is done.

But there are other considerations, such as longer veg time than I am used to, what medium to use to veg, how to transfer from veg rm to bloom rm, etc. If I'm going to throw 30-inch plants in there at the start of flowering, I need to begin vegging NOW, and my current system of rockwool blocks in F&D won't cut it.

Remember, Hydrosun's veg room alone is many a small growers' wet dream.

And if and when I do make the switch, I'm wondering how best to take advantage of my current ligthing setup -- basically 2x1k air-cooled HPS about 2 feet apart in a straight line.

The point being that there is more to consider than just the fact that I own the Brutes and casters.

Sorry Hydrosun, don't mean to monopolize the soapbox here, but there's yet another consideration. Let's say one guy's method yields an average of 12 oz-16 oz per plant and he can fit 2 plants under one light. Then let's say another guy's existing method yields and average of 3-4 oz per plant, and he can fit 6 of them under the same light. And let's say this guy lives in a municipality where he can legally grow up to 72 plants in a 32 sq ft area. How does one balance the longer veg time against the benefits of going fewer-but-bigger? One more thing -- if he gets his total plant count under six, the legal limits on growing area no longer apply, so he could theoretically add another 1k light.

It's not as simple as starting a compost pile and firing up the Brutes.

Ancientmariner- Not sure what ur gettin at or why u so fired up...It is only a matter of preferance man and resources man chill. It is as simple as fire up the brutes but u have to decide how u r gonna do it. Have a veg ready to slam in so never a delay with blooms or have a veg room raging to go at chop. It is just circumstancial and the homie HS circumstances are great. But brutes w/!air stones sounds super easy to me.
And he distributes the light with magnamxxxl hoods have a 5x5 coverage area easy and has multiple in the room.

LOL I am chill...Do I seem angry when I write? Not my intent. Anyway, enough of my BS. Let's sit back and watch the master do his thang.

Marching On

Marching On

Well not quite to PK only but getting there. Today the first of the Brute ladies was harvested. She was a BlackBerryBubba and was picked after 50 flower days.

So a little montage of her:

And today:

This plant is a really low yielder. The one from my last UC run in the Dungeon only yeilded 1.75oz. I am sure this one will be more, but I don't have huge expectation for her.

The Sensi Skunks finished their week long hang and are on to higher purposes. I didn't make my goal of 24oz, but I did over 90% of that.

I hope March is starting out well for all of you guys.

SSA: Thanks for helping to explain. Brutes, Foam Board, Air Stone, Net Pot, Hydroton, Rockwool, RapidRooter, and Clone: Then just add nutes and light; pretty simple actually. I have 4 Magnum XXXL-8 hoods in each room, however I only run two at a time (two hours on two hours off during the 12 hour cycle). You are correct that the hood has no problem covering 25sq' and as my 2x2 flop is showing the indirect light they provide beyond that 25sq' is also quite nice ;)

Ancientmariner: any limitation to X number of feet is unconstitutional, however I will not get into my usual rant in favor of freedom and liberty. If you are running 2Kw, that is the same amount of light I run in my flower rooms. One room is appx 75sq' the other is 100sq'.

It seems to me that my system of growing trees helps to keep the numbers down. I have 7 Brutes in the Dungeon and will have 9 Brutes in the Upgrade. That is 16 plants, if I take them 56 days then that is a plant every 3.5 days or as I like to say "Trees Twice a Week"

Hope March is starting well for everyone.

Peace, :joint:
