Well that last thread is deteriorating faster...

For those who are contemplating building/buying a cabinet in the near future... What size most interests you? (vote) and what features would you be looking for (post).

Trying to understand what is being sought right now - it's easy to see the dissatisfaction with the current offerings/price/quality... As I'm really thinking it's time to start developing a buisness thats aimed at the growing market...

No comments? Really am interested in hearing what you guys want to be built into your cabinets, in terms of lights, vents, *ponics, etc.

This is my brand new cabinet. It's 36" x 20", perfect for a 400w. Is that considered a dresser or wardrobe? :dunno:

We use a cabinet from Wally-World ($50) as a veg chamber and it is a little cramped. It looks like this http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Storage-Cabinet-Alder/11061206 with these dimensions: 22.31 x 15.25 x 59.63. It should be wider though, and that is my only complaint because it is difficult to put in t5's in there. There should also be some kind of hole to make it easy for airflow components like fans and such to install.

All this without breaking the bank and I'd buy one.

Think I'd call it wardrobe due to vertical height... What else are you running besides the 400w?

Might want to look at the 36w PL-L's - 16" long would fit a little easier and more lumens than the T5's... Could easily fit 4 36w (or 39w dependant on brand) PLL across there run off a single workhorse 7 ballast. the 36w are a lot cheaper than the 55's for some reason too...

Just the 400w for now. I'm hoping to rig up a very small chamber with some CFLs to keep a few cuttings and small stuff. I'm thinking I'll just build a little 1 square foot space into my desk with a few boards. Something real simple just so I can have a veg lighting schedule to save cuts and start seedlings and root clones.

That cabinet was about $200 from Lowe's. I definitely paid a premium to get the footprint I wanted, I could've gotten similar or more square footage for less money, but the dimensions just weren't what I was looking for.

I would be happy growing in cabinets for the rest of my life. Cabinets rock.

I went and bought a $120 wardrobe from Lowes and couldn't be happier. 72"H x 48"W x 22"D. I split it in two - half for veg/moms/dads/clones, the other half purely for flower (250W vertical). The top compartment houses fans and assorted tools.

Yeah, it's rickety and it will fall apart as soon as I move it, but at $120 I don't mind dumping this pile and buying a better wardrobe when I move and can afford it.

Im using a "Pantry" which is what walmart called it i think......If im remebering correctly......But If i would have been really thinking about my space and what would look esthetically proper in my house i would have got a full sized Oak wardrobe......I know a true wardrobe would be alot of money to spend just to start cutting holes in and growing bud though.......

Turn Key Grow Boxes

Turn Key Grow Boxes

I was blessed to be able to test the SuperCube Grow box from

http://www.supercloset.com/products/supercube.php

A fellow grower friend of mine actually works for these people and asked me if I would like to test it out. At 1st I was excited :jump: But after the box arrived I could easily see how cheap and easy something like this would be to make. Even on the inside the reflective panels are taped to the wall(how fucking tacky)So far I am not a fan. Spending $2k+ on one of these is not ideal...at least this company`s box! It is not light tight and needed a little extra work before it was useable!

Right now I have some flowering clones in soil inside this thing. As soon as they are done(50 days or so) I will make a thread with full report using the provided hydro setup! I can say with the dimmable lumatek ballast(400 watt hps/mh)+cool tube it does help keep temps+rh down to where it needs to be at. Anyhow, hope this helps someone, anyone with questions feel free to ask!

Thanks for sharing the pics... It's an interesting setup - but geeze... I'd expect better for that kind of price myself... Not lightproof or stealthy in any way shape or form... That really surprises me...

Just my :2cents:, but, would making a small cab/dresser/wardrobe as a modular type of thing work to start out with?

What I mean is, to use measurements of "standard" sized light fixtures (fluoro/HID/LED) and fans for exhaust and ventilation to cover most combinations that will fit into a "standard" sized cab/dresser/wardrobe. Add light proofing, odor control, and a number of outlets for power and the customer could drop in the appropriate components of their own choosing (within the limits of the enclosure itself) or select from an assortment of choices you offer.

It doesn't even have to be a custom job. Just something sturdy, has some stealth to it, and has the flexibility to utilize fluoro/HID/LED and the appropriate fan/filter combo the customer wants to use. I can see a selling price of $200 - $250 as being viable for a small base unit cab.

Like I said though, it's just a thought.

Namaste, mess

I'm planning on building two chambers soon (one veg one flower) that will need to fit in my one room apartment. I think I'm going to end up building two small cabinets bother probably 3ft highx2ft widex 20'' deep. I think these are the best demensions for what i want to do and building it out of MDF will probably be very sturdy.

What are your guys thoughts? Can you think of anything I should do instead of building them, mind you my apartment is horribly small. =/

I was trying to think up something in that range - and I'm personally eyeballing some big ol speakers :)

Going to post something up in a bit for review... Seems PC's might be too small, need something inobscuous that'd be found in a typical home... Big enough to grow a few plants...

How's something like this grab ya?

Standard 2 drawer file cabinet... 144w PLL lighting (one ballast) Growing area is basically 4sqft. ~18" vertical available. Lockable; will look factory out the front, from the rear, small addition for electrics, carbon scrubber and ventilation (primary intake would be through the bottom). Would be light tight - no worries about light leaking in/out.

This looks interesting for small personal grows. It would fit and blend into some storage space or work area. The lock would be expected so would not arouse suspicion. Two of these could be placed side by side, using one for flower and the other for veg/clones. Main concerns would be minimizing heat and noise.

Side by side, or Stacked - if I had a 4drawer kicking aorund I could rework that way... But to be completely pre-assembled for shipping / quick setup... Probably going to try to keep on the >4' range... That way Canada post / USPS / UPS/Fedex etc - are all options, getting bigger exponentially increases costs + shipping.

One of the fleecers already makes one... Except with screw in CFLs (lost height + extra heat).

Seeing what I have for $ lying around, might assemble one as a test; The Cosmos 1000 build with controls - that one I really want to start on, but definitely no funds to self-fund that one...

Nobody has ideas? Requests? Thoughts as to what's really needed in a commercial built grow cabinet? (C'mon help me out here; y'all complain about what's offered - I'm sitting here buisness plan in the other window trying to work out a good reason to git'r'started).
