is botanicares Botanicare Cocogro Premium Organic Soilless Grow Media ready to go. Says its aged for 18 months and has very low salt content.... Any one recomend a second wash or should I treat it with anything. I got clearex for salts. I also was wondering if Botanicare CNS17 Coco Grow Formulawould be allright for the plants. I know there is a calcium and mag def with coco and using RO water. any one use both these or just one and let me know how the CNS17 is also and if you like it/lacking anything.

i use botanicare coco..the avergae ppm if left unwahsed is around 150-180ppm...thats NOTHING..compared to other coco...so I would say ALWAYS flush ANY coco coir..you dont need clearex or nothing..just place the coir under the tap water for a couple minutes..FLUSH WITH HOT TAP WATER....hot water dissolves salts alot easier..so just flush very quick with hot tap water..then cold..then plant seeds...

although i have not used it. my boy used it his last run. big time disaster! half his plants locked out from the get go and nothing we would do would remedy it. will never, use it myself after seeing what happened.

The 5Kg bricks of coco from Botanicare are the only kind I've used. Worked fine for me.

The loose Botanicare bags are ready to go and already have calcium added to them. The 4KG bricks need to be pretreated with calcium.

I've never used coco by itself to grow weed and usually did a 50/50 mix of Coco/ProMix HP my last grow I decided to go straight coco. There was some vry light green growth on the new growth for the first week or so but so far so good. You ca see it here https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?p=3192175#post3192175

What I've been told by coco growers and this comes from several ones is that the best way they got the plants to take off in the coco brick was to add Calmag/CalMax/SensiCal/etc.. to the water that you'll soak the coco in and also add about 300-400 PPM of veg food if you're starting from clones. This give them food sand keep them from yellowing as the first time you plant them the coco will take longer to dry out then normally.

I like canna coco best. Back in the day botanicare had problems with the coco having a lot of salts in there coco. Hopefully they fixed it there nutrients are some of the best around

it says its aged for 18 months and ridden of all salts

GH, Canna and Botanicare are all aged for 18 months. You can take a lot of the salts out but not all.

Did you know that the coco used for growing is actually the final waste and the actual horse hair fibers from the coco nuts are used by Mercedes to stuff their car seats.

listen..WHATEVER coco coir you get..always flush..flushing is very easy.quick..I use Botacicare coir..its VERY good quality..one of the best hands down..like I said..average ppm before flushing is around 130-150..give or take..Iv seen some coir have more than 1000!!!!!! PPM...

Simply..hydrate with water..and give it a quick good flushing with HOT water...this should only take a few minutes...plant seeds/clones....then give a good watering with phed water..and keep watering good for the acouple days..to set the coir's ph..coir is a very fun and easy to use medium...

Im useing the cocogro loose bag, I add 20/30% perlite and havent had any probs.
I found the readygro is too hot, you need to buffer it or you may have issues...

This is similar to what I do. I use light cal/mag in the soaking water and it works fine right from the get go. Although second use coco does seem to be superior to first use.

I use 100% coco. I use the large bricks form Botanicare. I use 5.0 straight ro and use about 8 gallons per 1 brick. I don't even flush the stuff. I put the plants straight in it from there and water the first time with 5.5 . my run off will be at about 6.2 by now. I especially like how long it can hold water (thats why I dont add anything). Very forgiving medium.

I also grow using Botanicare bricks of coco and have no problems. I cut open the plastic on new bricks and drop it into a big rubbermaid container and run straight tap to soak it and break it up. When feeding I've found using root xcelertor, a little silica and drip clean help a lot with the whole salts/cal/mag situation.

I also like it better when the coco has already been used for a grow or 2, coco is a totally different growing medium than soil or hydro. I like that it is so forgiving, and it does also need to be watered/fed differently from soil/hydro grow mediums. I think that buds grown in coco don't need a flush before harvesting (also depends on which nutrient line you're using though also) and doesn't need a long cure for good flavors/smooth smoke.

nice, well Im glad to hear about the botanicare stuff I orderd being good. SInce I have the CNS17 from them should I be fine without adding cal/mag solution to it? or would you guys reccomend lowering the PH of my hard tap water and soaking with that instead of RO.

finally grew a pair huh...dont use r.o..just use straight hot tap water from the ta..oodotn ph..notihng..the ph will be set with your first few waterings...so water alot the first couple days..to reset ph...

I've been having lockout issues myself and it only started when i began using botanicare coco as opposed to canna. not sure if the coco is the reason but i have stopped using it and switched back to canna or gold label. the extra $3 a bag is worth it to me. plus i've found other shit like perlite in bags of botanicare which says something about their quality control.

If you guys want the best coco money can by you go with bio bizz. I have run canna also and there are really 1a and 1b but I like the bio bizz a bit better

I'm using the Botanicare ReadyGro aeration formula (with the perlite added...) I just dump the entire bag in a big ol' pot (25 gallon?) and let it sit out in the rain for a week or so.... awesome!

This stuff works great recycled as well... just dump in the same pot with the new stuff, mix well, and another week in the rain.

Top watering once a week (during the winter anyway)... stays moist for 7 days and the buds really come alive on days 2-4 after watering/nutes. You can take the EC/PPM way up there without any burn.
