FUgg! ANyone try the new Noble 5 Pils by Samuel Adams? I got it because it was the only decent looking thing at 711 the other day..
Has a green label! Very good, light, crisp, yet a bit hoppy and a dry finish..:gday:go out and get some, and I don't even usually drink SA...
I love that new Noble hops by Sam Adams, it is very crisp and has a nice citrusy hops flavor. I recommend you try a few more kinds like their winter lager or black

i think beer has silicon and obviously a lot of carbs and mybe the hops are like a alfalfa tea.

i do think either the hops or the barley have antibacterial properties

Don't let dogs eat hops! If anyone is using hops keep them away from dogs, can kill dogs and IIRC this has happened before when people who compost mistaken allowed their dogs to eat hops.

And FWIW, this whole thread is a waste of time, beer is not for microbes, period, end of discussion (IMO anyway). I agree with CTGuy, drink beer, pee in toilet and feed microbes food they do best on, not simply what you have laying around...

There is a big difference between "homebrew" and store bought for the most part.
Homebrew is not filtered and has a bit of yeast in the bottom. Also most homebrewers I know don't filter before bottling. Home brew usually doesn't give you a hangover... because the unfiltered beer is high in b vitamins.

The microbes don't eat all of the sugars and I am sure there would be some for the micro hoard to use.

If I try this it would be my homebrew or an unfiltered wheat beer available at the store.

Still, they all have alcohol which isn't good for soil food web functioning (AFAIK). The whole point is "why"? There are so many options why would someone want to use something we know is far less than ideal?

Whatever floats your boat is great with me, but it doesn't make much sense to use any kind of beer or spirits when molasses is so inexpensive and so effective...

2ndtry out.

Its true there must be a million better things to add to the soil...

I wouldn't recommend beer if you had anything else that would work... molasses comes to mind.

Then why did you bother posting? Just doesn't make sense buddy.

So sorry if it seems like a contradiction.
I took your original question asking about if Beer would be a good soil amendment. I posted what I know about the makeup of beer. I then saw other posts giving facts about what others know, and looking at what has been posted so far I concluded that Beer wont completely toxify the soil but that other more proven and readily available amendments work better.

I also know to start a beer brew for me is about 30 bucks and an afternoon. Thats just the first step, followed by another afternoon ... wait about 45 days then have a beer.

With all of that work I doubt that I would pour my labor in my soil.
home-brew quality beer bought at the store or local micro brew is around 8 dollars a six pack.

I jar of molasses = 4$ and will make a bunch of soil real happy.
Or I could spend an afternoon and set up a worm bin... wait as long as my beer takes to be ready and have casings...

How does that not make sense that I conclude that many other things are much better than beer?

Really just thought your question was asking for feedback. No agro intended.

Thanks for your input, this is why I started the thread. It dawned on me that it might be a cool way to add to the micro herd. It seems the jury has came forth with a verdict: Beer may help a little but is not worth the time. I was just a little annoyed at the other guys attitude that the entire thread was a waste of time. I think other people were wondering the same thing.

it's an online weed forum. 9/10 of us or more use mj as a recreational drug (despite prescriptions). I don't think anyone should be pointing fingers about wasting time. I know I am wasting my time, so obsessed with a leisure activity. But hey, we're all in the same boat!

The greek word for education, btw, is legos, or leisure.

That's my kind of wasted time.
