As a raider fan.. I cant have higher hopes for the raiders to get better until AL RIGAMORTIS DAVIS croaks...
And J Russell gets off his high horse and tries to get better by watching film and learning defenses... ALso the higher up's need to learn how to draft better kids outta college. its like they close their eyes and point at a name then say ok thats who were picking juan diego martinez gonzales is our new running back.. lmfao.. Think about it for a second when Marcus Allen was with the raiders towards the end AL Davis made him a 3rd down back ONLY... And marcus was a bad ass RB, the raiders then trade him to the chiefs and he proceeds to tear shit up and then he even rushes for over 150 yds on us i was so happy for him they kept showing AL rigamortis DAVIS during that game.. Anyhow ive rambled enough i could go on and on and on and on.. but i wont bore you.. lol peace..

Sack, you know the Raiders much better than I do, so I cannot say you're wrong. But let me ask you this: has Davis ever had a stretch of bad drafting/free agent decisions before the current streak? In the 5 years before their 3 year run of divisional titles from 2000-2002, they went 8-8 three times, 7-9 once and 4-12 once. Not a horrible record 5 year record but middling nonetheless. The reason I ask is that maybe Davis is just in a really bad run. Or you're right and he's just plain losing his marbles. :dunno: The fact that he's ancient and is rarely seen around the team as much is worrisome.

Still, u would think that some of his draft picks would work out just out of plain dumb luck. Louis Murphy looks like a player. To be honest, the Raiders success rate with lower round picks is not bad. And the Raiders arent the only team wasting high draft picks. The Bears recent 1st round picks usually end up washing out half the time; so maybe it'll work out this year since they dont have a first rounder (of course, Denver will probably draft a future Hall of Famer with the first rounder from the Bears). :puke:

Anyway, Raiders are on the clock at #8. Jimmy Clausen, anyone? Sam Bradford, maybe? Or maybe Davis will see a ballboy at the combine who could throw a tight spiral and draft him instead?

Spastic, I would have bet the house on the Colts. I'm so glad im not a betting man. Pleasant surprise that the Saints pulled out a big win.
Is it too late to talk about a repeat? Will the Saints keep Bush? Is Sharper going to retire? Recent champs have had a poor history of repeating; only the Pats were able to do it in 03-04 and 04-05...

i think they go some one like carlos dunlap DE, or anthony davis OT,

I'm a niner fan but follow the raiders pretty close (you know the love for thy enemy type of thing) but i follow a few teams pretty close....

with the raiders, its all about they need to hire a head of football operations, and al davis needs to stay out and let the people do there job(sounds kinda like what dallas needs to do aswell)...I hate to say this but they have a core of guys that are good....micheal bush, mcfadden, louis murphy, there tight end....give them a decent QB and a Tackle/gaurd and there team is decent on O......
on D they are kinda solid....maybe a LB here and a DL there and you really cant hate ....it just that they lack discipline....all them damn flags make negative yards..... and they need to just not answer the phone when davis calls and says "Alright boys, I think we should throw it deep"......

hey bababooey, Reggie is coming to SF(i hope).....a good old reunion with Alex Smith(old high school teammates)....

babaBOO brother you made me spit my joint right into my keyboard, with AL D drafting the ballboy throwing the tight spiral LMGDFAO!!!!!! that was focking hillarious thanx man... im still laffing... Ohhh i would love to see a sam bradford... And no denver will draft another 6th rounder that will break records.. lol... And Yea i dont see them drafting a QB they have WAY to much invested in J Russ WAY to much... maybe a free agent vick AL always gives the underdog chances.. And he is by no means the answer to our probs... Yea dont answer the phone when the old man calls is termination or demotion... Also louis murphy will play hard for the raiders and will only get better.. woulda been REALLY nice to have had crabtree... ;) but NOOOOO we have howard the duck bey.... Overall we have some good talent we need discipline, and all these men need to play together and not point fingers and be accountable when you are the one to make the my bad....Anyhow i am off like a cheap dress.. get high folks be back real soon... Lets try and keep up with all the up and coming info on our teams and the rest of NFL.. peace.

The only time I heard of Heyward-Bey before Al Davis chose him top ten last year was that he ran the fastest forty time at the combine, by a slim margin. He certainly had an underwhelming college career. I did see one TD catch of his this year for the Raiders, where he ran a nice little out route in the end zone. Doesnt make him the next Randy Moss, but maybe theres hope for him yet.
Come to think of it, the Raiders had Moss for a couple years and he didnt do much; the next year he was traded to the Patriots where he set an NFL record for TD catches in a season. So its probably more the system he was in. All that upheaval in the coaching staff doesnt allow the team to gel and learn the system.

Gaines Adams has been reported to have alcohol and mj in his system when he died, neither of which contributed to his death. Surprised at the alcohol, but maybe the man likes a few cocktails with his smoke. I believe he died at 8am sunday morning at home, so it didnt prevent him from being an early riser.

Gr8shoe, sounds like you follow the draft quite a bit. I'm not such a draftnik, because it seems like such a crapshoot. Teams pick guys more for their athleticism than for actual football accomplishments or skill, which i think is usually a mistake.
How much do u think it would take to sign Reggie Bush in free agency? I'm thinking... 38 mil with 15 guaranteed. If he stays healthy he'll probably be worth it, i think he made strides as a runner this year and could be an everydown back in the NFL (hes learned to take the 3 yard gain instead of always trying to break the 20 yard runs).
That might be a beautiful thing if he gets reunited with Smith in SF. I could see them running and juking and diving together, if Smith still remembers how to do that.

Yea i pay as much attention to the up coming draft as i can and when i miss stuff my older son REALLY is the john madden of our family.. He knows his shit that is for sure.. Yea i was thinking more like mid 40 million range with about a 18-20 mill guaranteed.... And yea reggie seemed to have learned much more patience and knows his role.. I see him becoming and everydown back here really soon.. I think the saints will match and beat any offers.. But will probably get rid of pierre thomas is it? he is good.. Lets see how all the negotiating goes with saints... Hope they stay together and maybe even add a few big names.. They need a TE shockey is always hurt.. peace..

All hail Breeze, King of Bacchus, Lord of Parties, Slayer of Manning, Champion of the Superbowl.

Sack, you really think they'll let Pierre Thomas (Illini!) go in favor of Bush. I felt that PT was their most consistent, dependable performer. I know Mike Bell is a hard nosed runner but PT really came up big in big games for them. He was an undrafted FA too, which goes to show you how quirky the draft is. I dont know, I feel they would keep PT over Bush, but maybe im wrong.

My girl loves the Kardashian show, and knowing how media-hungry and selfish those beyotches are, I can see Bush favoring some team in a bigger market (NY? Dallas?) or closer to Socal (guess that means the Chargers, who are getting rid of LT so they have an opening in their backfield - no Kim Kardashian jokes, please....:biglaugh:)

heheh Kim has a nice apple bottom.. I cant stand her sisters especially the one who could be a linebacker
for any NFL team.. lmfao.. Anyhow yea thomas is and was their more consistent RB but, BUSH like we said will become the back everydown and thomas' stock went WAY up after this great season he had.. And i think all the best players come out of the between 3-6th round... Yea bush will stay in NO him and kim are off and on from what my wife says.. peace..

Being that the upcoming year is uncapped, I really think that the Saints will try to keep this team together. I hope so! Sharper "tweeted" last night that he plans on coming back (they always say that tho). It will be interesting to see.

What they need to add is a BIG run stuffer on the D line... and they'll be set up to defend!

Much has been said on the subject of the Raiders and their recent run of futility. Every Raiders fan knows the whole sordid tale, from AFC champs a decade ago to a league record for consecutive 11 loss seasons. Truly this once proud franchise has never sunk this low...

But taking a look at the last two Superbowls, from Arizona almost winning it last year, to the Saints winning it this year, you have two of the league's most moribund franchises (historically speaking) having great success.

I guess my point is that the Raiders, like a lot of teams in the league, are probably not that far off from being successful. Granted, it would be surprising if Jamarcus was a part of any sort of turnaround, but if its mostly an attitude thing with him, well, if he can man up and take this job seriously, then maybe he can fulfill his potential.

On the plus side, I believe that the team is set at RB with Fargas, Bush and McFadden. McFadden has the potential to be a top 5 RB, not that he's shown it much so far.

The D had a down year last year but thats probably mostly to blame on the offense, which couldnt sustain drives.

Maybe all they need is a legit QB? Which could be Jamarcus or maybe someone like Vick. Gradkowski can win some games but i dont know whether he can lead them to the promised land. Maybe he can, apparently he's well-respected by league scouts.

And... what can i say about Al Davis. He's been brilliant at times and downright puzzling at times, and right now he's in a multiyear stretch of head scratching decisions. I hope for his sake that the Raiders can become good again in his lifetime. He's deserved a lot of the scorn for his recent management, and you gotta believe it hurts him terribly as well. Im not happy with a lot of draft picks Jerry Angelo has made either, but at least he's not passing up Crabtree to take Heyward-Bey. The draft is enough of a crapshoot as it is without making wild decisions like that.

Still, 2010 is a new year, and every fan hopes that his or her team will dominate the league. The Browns, who havent made the playoffs since coming back to Cleveland a decade ago, finished 2009 winning their last four; can they continue it? Even the Raiders had some quality wins, beating the Eagles, Steelers, Bengals and Broncos. Sometime to build on, surely...

Arizona did'nt allmost win anything last year. they were dominated for 3 1/2 quaters.Steelers d had a breakdown allowed a quick 14 points. but then Ben surgicaly dissected them and the Steelers D smashed Kurt Warner and slamed the door on them. Hey I allmost won the lottery but they told me that allmost means I won zip. Hey I get the point I just took exception to the phrasing.

Khloe, the big one married to Lamar Odom, is fitter than she used to be but still has a face like a foot. She struck Laker gold in Odom; at least she's found a mate bigger and uglier than she is...

HDN, you probably remember that Superbowl better than I do. From what i recall, yes, the Steelers largely shut down the Cards most of that game; i recall Larry Fitzgerald was basically shut out at halftime. But given his status as probably the best WR in the league (I think he's Jerry Rice with speed) he came back to score two TD's in the second half, including a 60 yard catch and run, splitting two safeties and outrunning everyone to the end zone, to put the Cards in front. It was only a drive for the ages by Roethlisberger and company that got the lead back for the Steelers, capped by that amazing catch by Santonio Holmes in the back corner of the end zone.
So I say the Cards almost won the Superbowl because they DID have a lead with only a few minutes left; if they had made a defensive play or two, or Holmes didnt manage to hold onto that TD...
But i understand your point: 'close' only counts for horseshoes and hand grenades, as the saying goes.

Yeah the steelers won that game on a circus, miracle catch. So I would also say that the cards almost won that game.

I think what HDN means is, ALMOST don't mean squat!
