I used to think like you Hammerhead, until I used a mac. It is pretty easy to get used to, and you dont need to install any OS. It comes ready to use straight out of the box. The fact that it is alot less vulnerable to viruses is worth the money alone!!

no learning curve at all... it's a 100 times more user friendly than any pc. very very well built and reliable computer, but the os is what makes it so great. macbook pro for the win

asus from newegg are a good deal and nice units. I am not a fan of apple due to price for what you get but the fanboys love them. I also am not a fan of toshiba, solid hardware but just like asus for the dollar/feature ratio.

good cs from this place and I like the asus for its reasonable prices useing good components. I also have found in the past upgrade parts for their units are a decent price(relative to laptop parts from others).

I vote get a good deskop screw laptops they are 3xs the price for half the computer and a rape to upgrade. Laptops are for mobile work use and so many people I know get one then puke on them or break them some other way when they could of had a bad ass tower for the cheapness.

I am a huge machead, in addition to being a greenhead, but I wouldn't get a Macbook Pro right now at this very moment. They haven't been updated in quite a while, and new ones have got to be right around the corner.

Im not refering to the 5500$ one. They have a 900$ version m11 looks nice or the m17 for 1700$. It has to last what ever I get. What about lenevo?

Sure...get a Mac...if you have absolutely no computer skills and love paying double for looks/cool factor and you love getting raped at the Apple store.

Mac users are such sadists...
