Marijuana Causing Pain

G

grasspass

A couple days ago , my thumb was hit by a hammer.[pot smoking leads to carpentry] . I smoked some herb. It did nothing for my thumb pain, but it helped my chronic joint pain.

Okay well not going to go as far as to say tolerance is what is going on here as mine is very high but I haven't smoked all the bud out there but pretty close to it lol.
I do know ppl that I have smoked up and in one case it was 11:00 pm and I was renting a place and we smoked this girl up and after the first toke she started to scream at the top of her lungs lol. The landlord came running down the stairs and kicked me out lol lol..My next incident was at a bus stop where two guys asked for a toke. I told them it was stronge and they said they could handle it. I gave the one guy a toke and he went to the ground in a fit while his friend started to scream "What have you done" Needless to say I have learn that not all ppl act the same lol lol... What I think is a joint others think is ,I DON't fucking know LOL LOL.... My last story is of a pancake smaller 2 quarter given to 180lb guy and in 40 mins he couldn't walk ?????? go figure ... I on the other hand could eat 10 of them.... peace out Headband707

Sounds to me like you have some serious issues with your muscles and bones already.... the tightening/loosening of your muscles is causing havoc with whatever imbalance is already present.

Go get your physical issues fixed (chiropractor/Physical-Therapy/whatever) and then try using cannabis again. Personally I would switch to eating it until I was "fixed up", before trying smoking again.

Stay Safe! :tree:

Personally, I never found weed to be all that pleasant until I tried medical grade. I found that most street weed is typically more harsh to a relative non-smoker than a well grown organic strain. And to repeat what others have said, a hybrid or indica strain would likely do someone like you better, seeing as how your pain is stress related. Sativas tend to cause stress and I remember many experiences with satori, snowcap, romulan, etc. that have all left me feeling pretty anxious.

i've gotten rid of mild headaches by burning a log before, & i've turned mild headaches into screaming migraines that way too. it DOES seem to depend on the strain...

Yep, I was just thinking the same thing. On a few rare occasions my buds have given me a slight tension headache, but strong physical pain? Never.

The human body is complex. As much as I love weed personally, I have no problems admitting that it's not for everybody. It sounds to me like the TS needs to address stress/ pain issues in a way that doesn't involve weed, and then once they are resolved, maybe try to come back to weed once in a more relaxed and healthy mental state.

I really don't think someone with stress, who already doesn't enjoy the feeling of being high, should immediately graduate to edibles.

I just had this happen to me. I had been having bad neck and shoulder cramping/pain and it looks to be this cheap weed I have. My doctors thought it was a drug I take by injection so they took me off that but I think they may have been wrong. I need to stick with medical quality stuff.

Headband - You're right about home-grown strains, entirely! My ex was 6'5" tall & 260 lbs of bodybuilding muscle...

One day, as we were watching football, he took a couple hits off my joint... I was baking some brownies. I had some cannabutter from my White Widow trim (Mr. Nice). I asked him to come get a pan down for me out of the top shelf of the cupboard... He came in, reached up - & passed smooth out! I was lucky to get out of the way & catch his head before he hit the floor!

All he'd ever smoked was street schwag from the Texas Panhandle... My stuff had him out cold for about 15 minutes, then a long nap after we told him what had happened...

Just goes to show - tolerance of a person with chronic pain is much greater than the average Joe's... :scripture:

some strains give me pain, and some do not. the ones that do usually do not get smoked again and tossed.

each strain is a little different and activates different memories and/or emotions when smoked. but they are very consistant in experience.

in the old days with all the reefer madness - i always read about 'you never know what or how it's going to make you feel when you smoke it' if your sad, it gets you happy, if happy gets you sad, etc.

obviously, it's that you were smoking a different strain each time, so this is why that was sorta true. each experience was different.

if i smoke a known type, or a strain i've smoked before - i always have the same experience from it.

some strains wake up memories of old injuries, and old injury sites.

a couch locking indica can give you a weird pain in your knee when you fell off your bike when you were 11. or an old sports injury pops up and you feel it again for a few minutes. it's locked memories being released by that particular strain.

the mind is one strange thing, and it never forgets a thing. sometimes the release of these injury memories is theraputic in a way.

i suggest to smoke a different strain, and don't smoke a lot of a new strain. one or two lungfulls - then gauge it if its right for you.

We all have cannabinoid receptors in our brain. Different stimulants (strains) affect different receptors in separate ways. And add in tolerance or using the receptors a little much. Add in patients mood and or physical well being. Add in stress of any sort, and all the differences between you and me, and well you see where I'm going, too many variables. If you are a newbie, it will take time to find what works for you, and time to relax and be open to something new, don't think of it as a drug, think of it as spiritual time to enjoy life and that is what it will become.......4

Very interesting that more people do not report these effects IMO, pain is a common side effect of many strains for me... muscle cramping in the neck/shoulders can be severe, as well as teeth grinding.

Try to keep an open mind and try several different strains. You should probably stay away from pure sativas, worst strain ever = green crack. I don't like ISS, mango haze or SSH either.

Heavy indicas may have their own side effects in enough dosage (mild headache, dry sinuses, drowsy/lightheaded for prolonged period), but I find most to be muscle relaxing. A good blueberry has a strong muscle relaxant effect for me.

Most "good" weed has enough side effects for me that I mostly use tried and true strains. Be very very careful with edibles, the edible will always turn out like the underlying strain!

I experience something similar, to be honest, and I'm in the process of actually having it looked at.

I was quite surprised to read your post, as it more or less sums up the way I feel sometimes.

Haze can be quite severe.

^^ try not smoking a lot of it next time, one or two small hits, then relax for 10 mins. you don't have to get completely sh*tfaced everytime you smoke..higher doses mean higher sensations, and if they are the kind you don't like, they will be amplified..

sometimes a pain inducing strain does not induce pain at a much lower dose

I have degenerative disc disease in my back. When I smoke a really potent sativa, I get low back pain. I've always thought it was because of some antiseptic/disease fighting property, and it seemed like the thc was going after the disease.

Here in the Deep South, it's impossible to get anything decent to smoke unless you provide for yourself... That said, when one gets a sudden headache after smoking, we refer to it as the "Schwaggerian" headache...

When it's smuggled into the country, it's often compacted & exposed to heat, etc., which degrade the THC into CBNs... Hence, the headache.

I have NEVER experienced any kind of headache or physical pain from smoking quality home-grown.

This info is useful & will make its' way into my notebooks...

ppl that have smoked for years are very aware of how different smoke has different effects. Just like presc meds act differently for different ppl so will pot and even more so as it will depend on the grow and growers. For example you can have Green Crack Strain done by 5 different growers and one does it the best . I have heard ppl say they hate GC , Most ppl love GC but it's very stronge and not for ppl that are uptight.SOme ppl get uptight just talking about this thinking it puts a damper on the whole pot thing and it really doesn't. The more we know the smarter we are about all this shit.. peace out Headband707

Some excellent advice here! Aside from Indica/sativa variances please consider the harvest stage(I.e. Color of trichomes) where clear to cloudy(early harvest) will cause a sativa like effect and a later harvest with mostly amber Trich's will have that heavy indica effect. These effects can also take place in opposite type strains(Indica effects in a sativa, or sativa effects in an indica). This is why people will often say it's best to grow your own. Read up on a few proven strains til you find one you think you'd like. A good place to start is the bay here. Always good genetics floating around.
