if any one can recommend any other media or mix ratios that would be great, i was thinking of trying 100% canna terra and 100% peat i think it will be interesting to see how the $5 bag of peat will go up agents a $40 bag of canna terra

Craven......is that VB empty or full :)))) JK....i see the cap on it. Just such a nice sight to see.

Whatcha think of the Canadian Olympic Games Opening Ceramony ?? Pretty tight eh ?

as per the set up....looks sharp as always. I'm really not that familiar will with the products you show. i've been only doing DWC , so just the Hyrdoton i use.

i will certainly keep tabs on this thread tho.....and will be a good listener to the pro's !!

I'm considering the idea to run 3 res with 3 different Nutrients DM, Canna & GH but it could be to much of a mind F### but would be fun to try.

those bags work well...
basically just glorified landscape fabric, which is ~5 coins for 3ftx50ft roll... can diy @ least 20 of them w/ 1 roll... they can be had for free, too;)...

Cheap DIY Air Pruning Pots *aka* smart pots

the roots will grow out of them, if encouraged... or, will 'air prune' the roots, if not given water/media to grow into.

while the 'smart valve' is ok, can simply place bags on large trough/portable pool, & be done... no valves, no other contraption... just feed when basin become slightly dry.

maybe only require 1 bottle gh flora nova bloom... maybe, 100% coco, or 50/50 coco/perlite...

=k.i.s.s... end.

enjoy your garden!

I'm happy so far with my coco/perlite mix using the same type of smartvalve set up, but the mess and pain of rinsing the coco I could do without. Would hydroton wick water enough to be used in a bottom feeding set-up? seems a heck of a lot cleaner to re-use. I'll be interested to see how you like whichever media(s) you go with. Seems like coco/perlite is a proven combo with autopots/smartvalves though, which is what made me decide to use it.

*mistress* you have been reading by mind maybe not a good thing you don't know what you will find. quote:Maybe only require 1 bottle gh flora nova bloom... maybe, 100% coco, or 50/50 coco/perlite...
I believe flora nova is not completely soluble may course problems with the smart-valves. Nice thread but not the same material thank u. My bags can be brought for less than $1 each.

u r right hydroton will not wick that is why i will be mixing it with rockwool i do know rockwool and hydroton work good together rockwool is the only one i like to mix with hydroton its easy to separate. I will be using all the media types each bag can hold a different media.
How do you mix your coco/perlite? 50/50 60/40 40/60 and what nutrients do u use can i see your feeding program?what size pots would be helpful to.

?
not reading mind... just gardening topic.

yes, fnb is water soluble. if only 99%.. many use for hydro.
Nice thread but not the same material thank u. My bags can be brought for less than $1 each.
yes, not same material... same basic method.

polypropelene...
=recycled milk jugs...
=woven material (bag)=
=landscape fabric... fwiw, 3x50 roll >5 grain salt, make 20+ bag...

enjoy your garden!

Yes they are reusable shopping bags i don't think they are made from recycled material but will cheek. The material has been used for years in the autopot system to control roots, the roots do not find it that easy to grow throw this material but can after some uses they do let some air throw i think this is a good thing, i will have them packed closely to together so i hope this will help agents water lose. thank u for the help.

yes... roots grow thru them, if encourage by more media outside, or water...

yes... recylced milk jug type plastic. same @ 'hydro' shop for 5-coin-per to enthusiastic, new gardener, as 'sm&rt', or 'a&r' p*t... :biglaugh:
how easy to diy:chin:, when some make much effort to give more to hidr0 store...

yes... maybe chick job, but *mistress* top-goddess, leave knitting for sub-grrlz...
boy requesting simple sew/press be done for him, by lady gardner, maybe mean chicks still rule!:D

enjoy your garden!

very cool

very cool

hey Craven_au
man this looks good, going to pull up a chair and watch how this all pans out.

if you are still taking requests, i'd be curious to see a coco run 60/40 coco/perlite or even hydroton/coco mix. very cool that your sharing your media test... now i really wish i tried a 100% perlite like we were talking about in my current run, but i guess it'll give me something to check out next time.
