What is Seattle like?

Hey guys and gals,

I am graduating in June with a Master of Science in Software Engineering, and have bachelor degrees in computer science and IT management. I also suffer from Crohn's disease.

Right now I live in a non-med state, and after graduation I want to relocate, get a job, and get legal. I just want to be able to grow my own meds and not have to worry about going to jail over it. I have come close to being caught this last year, and I have had to stop growing because of it and it blows.

So anyways, I know the Seattle area has a good technology industry and I will be able to get a good job there, but I am wondering if anyone can give me some insight on what the medical scene is like.

Thanks for your time

depressing... (location wise)

Best friend is up there and says he can have 15 plants. Not too shabby.

Seattle has a great MMJ community with a TON of old strains dating back to the early 1980's. Washington MMJ people do a lot of trading with Oregon MMJ patients.

One strain to definitely look for if you move there is one called 'U-Dub' (from medical experiments conducted in the early 1980's at the University of Washington).

And because of the number of strains sold to Neville (The Seed Bank Catalog from 1988) that came from Sacred Seeds in the Pacific Northwest, you can still find original Northern Lights strains/cuttings dating back to 1984 or so and not having gone through the Dutch seed deal.

Does Washington have clubs like other states? I think being able to source clones would be nice because I really hate keeping mothers. But hell if I was legal I probably wouldn't even care about that as much :dunno:

Thanks so much!

No - Oregon and Washington MMJ laws do NOT allow for the sale of anything, i.e. medicine, clones, etc.

I can tell you from personal experience that you do NOT want to violate these laws if you're busted - judges in both states take the position that the citizens of our states have allowed medical patients to grow all the pot that they want without legal problems.

Violate those laws and get in front of a judge and you'll be bitch-slapped like you can't believe. They are extremely hard on medical patients using the MMJ laws to become black-market growers.

Trust me.

Thanks CC!

Yeah definitely no intentions on over stepping my bounds. I keep things humble.

Thanks for the info. K+

I love the green everywhere. To get the green you need a few sprinkles. Mountains on one side and fresh ocean air on the other.

Summer in the northwest is special.

That's another thing that really attracted me to the area is the nature. I love camping, fishing, hiking, mountain biking etc. and that part of the country seems great for this.

Right now I live in concrete jungle so it would be a nice change of pace I think.

The Pacific Northwest is God's country. A remarkable place to live, IMHO

I'm originally from Colorado, and though I did love living there I've been in the Seattle area for more than 20 years now and I've discovered that there's nowhere I'd rather live.

It is truly beautiful here. The rain (and there's not as much as many people believe) can get to some people, but I don't mind it a bit. It's a small price to pay for the abundant greenery.

I can't speak much about the med scene, as I just recently got involved and don't have any experience in other states to compare with, but what I've found so far is a bunch of passionate and helpful folks involved.

Given the amount of sports (skiing, snow boarding, surfing (wear a friggin' web suit - LOL), hiking, mountain climbing, etc. this part of the country has it all, IMHO

MMJ patients are left alone without all of the drama down in California - a real blessing, IMHO

I've lived in the Southeast (Kentucky specifically) and New England (New Hampshire), Southern California (Laguna Beach), et al.

I'll be living in the Pacific Northwest for the rest of my days. I love it here.

Seattle is a great town....I've been going there regularly since the 70's. Lots to do if your into nature. But....it rains and it rains. And then it rains again. Something you need to really think about. The very short summer is nice with the long days but it never gets real hot.

Not sure what you mean? We have prop 215, the best mmj law in the country. Washington has no where near the access to mmj that we have in Cali. Sure there are court cases and such...but the average patient has nothing to worry about....its almost surreal what I have access to compared to 10 years ago.

It doesn't rain here nearly as much as say Miami. We just have less days of sunshine though. I am in total agreement with others here that it is the best if you are into being outdoors. Summers here are amazing and when the leaves turn color in the fall it lasts a really long time. It's been in the 50's most of this Winter but if you want snow you can have all you want in parts of the state. Lot's of camping is free.

I know very little about the med scene here, the one club I have been to is not very good. Lowest priority enforcement in Seattle.

Plenty of artists and musicians here too.

I wish I did know some people around here though because I would love to find some old school NL.

Yeah I have been reading a non-MJ board about Seattle and a lot of people do seem to complain about the weather. Others say it doesn't bother them at all :dunno: One guy said it's not even rain, it's more like a drizzle comparable to like London weather.

The rain isn't so bad, its mostly a light sprinkle, with the occasional down pour. However, it is gray a lot. One must be self motivated during the winter and spring as the sun is less than regular. The Summer is magnificent! 70-75 from July-September and the green never goes away.

As for medical, it is pretty 'lax with the law if your not ridiculous. I AM NOT dialed in with the MMJ community, but it has a very visible presence in local politics and is becoming less and less a priority with the "man."

It's a great place to live.

Nice, but perhaps you should also visit Olympia area.

In Seattle take the ferry! If you come back at dusk the sights will be GREAT!

I love the whole PNW... including Victoria BC!!!!!!

Lovely place with lots of natural and mystical power!

Seattle's cool, but if you can get out into the state, places like, Bellingham, Glacier National Park, and the Methow are where it's at as far as an active and productive growing community (not necessarily mmj). I've lived all over the south, Ive lived in France, Croatia, England and Canada, and nothing is better than the summer in the Norwest.

NOTHING COMPARERS!

God bless PNW
