Phosphorous deficiency?

Phosphorous deficiency?

I know this isn't the infirmary, so if i'm out of line, kick me. But I wanted to post it here because I use LC's mix with the dry fert recipe and I know you guys know better than anyone in the infirmary.

This started appearing on just ONE of my current plants about 2 weeks into veg (into third week now). It first affected just the two biggest fan leaves, but now it's moved up to the tip of the next set (just one though, not both on that internode). It looks to me to be a phosphorous deficiency, so I've treated it by watering this one plant with about 1/2 tablespoon of high P guano, and I'll do it again tomorrow if it doesn't show signs of stopping. Is this the right thing to be doing here?

It's weird because none of the other plants have it, and the soil is EXAXCTLY the same, as is the watering, etc. Any ideas? Is it just this plants genetic makeup? They're all the same strain, from the same pack of beans too.

Water question. I changed my grows last fall from RDWC to soil organic and thus started following this thread. My first attempt, just now getting ready for cutting was a "Roots Organic" bag soil. I am now mixing my soil (LC #2) and letting it sit for a few weeks to plant @ March 7. I do have some remnants in my room from RDWC. Most notably is my RO unit. My water from the small local water company is really good. PH @7.4 and EC @120. My thinking now is that I no longer need or even want to use the RO system. From what I read, it is now the function of the EWC and the dolomite lime to correct my PH and I would probably want my small amount of calcium iron and mg that is present in my water. Am I correct?

Also, when mixing the dolomite lime in the soil mix, my take is 2 tablespoons of dolomite lime per 1 cubic foot of the soiless mix. Is the cubic foot of soiless mix the "Pro Mix BX or HP / Sunshine Mix" before you add the perlite and EWC or after? This would make a substantial difference if it is after.

Also, is there any substitute for "green sand" as I would like to up the P a bit on one strain?

Thanks.

I would highly recommend using kelp meal in your potting soil (about 1/4 cup per 5 gallons) with a soluble seaweed extract every 3rd watering or so.

That's 1 cup per cubic foot of mix after you mix in the peat or ProMix, perlite and worm castings.

2 TBS dolomite lime PER gallon of soil.

I add my lime BEFORE the perlite. That way it is only added to the organic material and not the inert perlite.

I mix mine. EWC, peat, compost, lime, rock powders. and then mix well. Then I add the guanos or what every I am using for nutrients and then mix. Measure the total volume at that time and then add the perlite.

Wow. I totally understand what happened with my mix. I mixed my soil exactly as LC mix called for with all ingredients, measured then added dolomite lime. Upon planting my clones I had Mg deficiencies ! Its because I measured after perlite!

Thanks again, next time I get to mix a batch up I'll remember lime before perlite!

CC I'm a little confused, is kelp meal different than soluble seaweed extract? I have the info for Keep it Simple kelp meal. Do you have a good example of soluble seaweed extract? Or am talking about the same thing?

It is the same. One is used as a soil additive and the other is used as a folair spray. Just use the kelp meal and make your own. That is what I use to do. It might be better to get both but I always grow on a budget. Hell my life is a budget. LOL

There might b a difference that I am not aware of but I am sure someone smarter than me will be along.

So does anyone have a clue as to what the deficiency my plant in the pic above is experiencing?

Looks burnt for sure. Without seeing the rest of the plant I would guess.............not enough water or a PH in balance causing nutrient deficiency. Show us the rest of the plant.

Are your stems purple? That would help point to a P def.

Here is a picture of all of the plants. Same soil, same planting time, same environment...everything. The only difference is this one plant has this deficiency showing on 3 of its fan leaves, and the rest of the plants are just fine.

Here's the pic. The leaf above came from the plant in the lower left corner.
