It's 2050: Can We Feed Nine Billion People Sustainably?

The fact of the matter is,if you can grow pot you can basically grow everything with a little extra information the about thing your intending to grow.

Conclusion : Pot can save the world.

The difference is scale...Growing a few plants to smoke and growing fields of food to sustain yourself throughout the year is a whole different ballgame..

Man I have beent thinking about this lately, I have been researching sustainable farming and alternative power sources for a couple weeks now.

Want to know what I think? (will tell you anyways)

The human species is over unless we figure out how to let natural selection take it's course. To many idiots are breeding and raising more idiots, I honestly believe I should be able to bust a cap in someones ass for being an idiot. It would be doing the world a favor from preventing him from breeding. Only the strong survive and thats the way it should be.

We should just start cutting nuts and tieing tubes of these idots at the least. Just a little bit hitler like but if we are to succeed as a species its necessary. Before long, after population grows, foods short, peoples immune systems are weak, a disease will form and wipe are asses out.

Anarchy!

theres many things we can start doing that we aint doing alrdy, such as utilizing various methods of growing, growing our own meat in labs, perfecting genetic modified foods, and other ways of sustainable farming, will we adapt to our situation by then, iono

I think 9 billion is the conservative estimate, I think I heard it could be up to 14 worst case.
Education and condoms could go a long way. Some sensible way of halting population growth (bringing it down from current levels by a couple billion through having less children would be even better). Then there has to be a way of ensuring food resources are more evenly distributed. Less red meat and more efficient protein sources. A transition away from greed and wastefulness as a way of life to a more cooperative sustainable and harmonious one. It can be done. So now we must do it.

automatic indoor skyscraper farm factories is the future!

Not unless we have fusion or another cheap energy source..

HELL NO! I'm not giving up meat because the ''sand people'' can't hold it in their pants. The number on Europeans is declining. Europe is getting old and our population is getting smaller. If Indians, Chineses and Africans(?) want to reproduce that is their problem. I ain't giving up SHIT!

Infact i would rather start shooting before i let them ruin my quality of life..

Soon it's time to start closing the damn borders..There will be a lot of migrating to the north..

Of course we can sustain if we wanted too.
The first error in this logic is there is not enough of anything... and if you got it, somehow I didn't because of you.

This is just a bunch of mind wash. We will feel good about killing our brothers and sisters. (its for the good of the planet)... :spanky:

Its all just a bunch of nervous corporations (business governments) that understand they will not be able to keep food and maintain profits from the masses as it is already being done.

The real question is can that many people be governed and controlled like now? No way.

That makes it necessary to reduce population, and make sure the up coming generation thinks they know some super secret knowledge of how the planet works.

We don't even know what the weather will be next month for sure... then how the fuck can anyone say they "know" what the capacity of the planet is.

Right now the main focus is to consume and sell debt.
Another reason Hemp is outlawed for the most part... far too productive and easy to grow.

Its really disgusting to think about. It hurts my soul.

There is enough... think about it

There is always enough if you can pony up the cash! If you don't go beg somewhere else..

i think my idea applies to many of the population problems of the future. space on the ground is finite, and shrinking every day. the only logical conclusion for problems like housing, transportation, food, and other industries, is up.

How far in the future ? Where is the enery going to come from ? I predict the next 100-150 years we will be busy with the energy crisis. Famine and death will be normal. Hunger will be normal..

Hey if we had unlimited energy we would not have a problem. But growing crops in skyscrapers is anything but energy efficient. If we had enought energy there is nothing we could not do..

all i'm saying, if we're doubling the population in 100-200 years, there's not going to be enough breathing room on the ground. sounds dumb, but think of the fifth element, lol :joint: the living quarters/transit system doesn't seem too far off in the "near" future.

ArcticBlast

edit: energy is a problem now, and will be a problem then. i cannot even fathom where technology will take us in 5-10 years, much less 50-100 :joint:

Exactly! Me and my 9billion friends aint begging anymore.... we will just take what we need. The company store wont be able to do anything... what would they do call the cops?
I don't need to borrow any of your money with interest.

How about honest production?...create something.... then you actually earn a right to be paid.

How does letting someone use money justify the middle man taking a pinch?... nothing was produced nothing was earned... thats the problem

I get what you are saying...

And it's not viable unless we get fusion...If we get fusion that is going to change the whole game.

I see a scenario where in the next 100-300 years there will be a massive die-off..Maybe 3-5billion people left. Sounds a lot more realistic..
