Neither a borrower nor a lender be.
For a loan often loses both the loan and the friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of the economy.-Shakespeare circa 1599

my closest Brah is at my house the other day . He say "hey Im gonna take your board(new lib tech skunk ape) up to the hill and try it out" . I dont hesitate cause he's very responsible ,has his shit together, and he would never bulk at me taking his toys for a spin. 5hrs later he come in where i work and says "can i use your internet" , I point him into the office. I go in there and he's online looking for a replacement board. "Dude I lost your snowboard, I am so sorry"
he was pretty upset "I'm getting you a new one right now". he thinks he lost it out the back of his truck in a sharp turn ,he looked for it for hours . It totally freaked him out and his buddy that was with him and a kid they had riding along too. I think I felt just as bad for them as he felt about losing the board.I told him I had 3 other boards to ride, but he knew this was the first new board i;ve had in 10 years, and my next best board is a 1993 K2 fat BOB, so he wouldnt have any of that . He would not rest till he fixed it, he called me later that night and tells me hes got me a new board and new bindings and it will be here soon. what a good buddy!!
:respect:THANK YOU BRO
as my buddy was beating himself up he quoted Polonius from Hamlet
"Neither a borrower nor a lender be."

Oh well, goodbye new snowboard, hello newer snowboard:dance013:
I;m gonna hand him a fat sack when he brings that new board

fuck these lemons ,we're gonna make lemonade

A good deed went unpunished. Wow.

:yeahthats Actually now that I think about it we do not know if the friend f'ed himself over to buy the new board so I think the punishment is lurking, but I am a pessimist.

Example, a person at work sent this feel good message something like "A pessimist sees the thorns but the optimist only sees the flower" I read it and think, well the optimist now has scratched and bloody fingers, maybe I am a realist :)

Sorry to thread jack, it is great when you have friends who step up and do the right thing, I am blessed with a few such friends myself and they are the best thing in this world.

D'oh! Got me on that one. Who knows? Maybe come spring, he'll find the board sitting on a large pile of unmarked cash.

Your friend and his 'tailgate' story reminds me off this situation
last fall: my friend gets his power shut off for non payment and
wants to borrow my generator to which I finally and reluctantly
agree to. He comes over with his pickup truck and he and a friend
load it into the back, my generator was brand new w/only 5 test
minutes run time on it, it is on wheels and he walks away leaving
his tailgate down & my fucking $1000 genset sitting just 20inches
from rolling out his truck....... "HEY!" I yell as he gets into his truck
to pull away, "where you going like that?" (bout 5 miles away) and
he tells me not to worry! I tell him "I'm not gonna worry, unload the
genset right now." this fucker was too lazy to pay his bill on time,
too lazy to nudge my brand new genset a few inches to close the
tailgate on his truck and now I'm supposed to trust he'll put only
hi-test gas (required) & synthetic oil in it? no way. end of story.

I just don't lend my stuff out, period. My DVDs & CDs ain't got
no legs nor the common sense to come on home to papa......

pisses off my friends who'd like to use my collections as a long
term non-rental service. one friend who has lent me thousands
of $$$$$ in the past I couldn't say 'no' to, I let him take 5 flix
one day, several months later I ask for them back, "what DVDs?"
was his reply. I found 3 of them and then asked for the other 2
by title at which point he said "maybe my brother took them to
his place." END OF STORY.......

update

So my Bro got me a new board&bindings, and I have gifted him few jars of sticky....we're totally cool........
so we are sitting here and the phone rings .

One the phone is a guy in the neighborhood that claims he was at a stop sign when this snowboard came flying and hit his headlight on his pt cruiser and busted it! The man (who'm I know tobe a shadetree mechanic that doesnt pay full price for anything!) says he needs $200 to pay for the busted headlight before I can have my board back.
I have a few problems with his story
1) he didnt see what kind of car the board came off of , 12 noon one car at a stop and one car making a right turn at the intersection
2) something flys off a car and breaks your car and you dont chase them down??
3) something flys off a car and breaks your car and you dont call the cops??
4) he didnt seem interested in making the guy that was at fault pay.....just wants $200...he doesnt care who pays
SOOOO, I GUESS IM GETTING JACKED FOR $200

WELL?
