Legaldroman- I noticed you have an AC set up in your bloom room for temperature control, but how do you prevent the smell of your plants from escaping the room with the AC exhaust? I'm assuming your AC exhaust is set up to blow outside.... do you have a filter attached of some kind?

Cannoiseur,
I'm running a sealed grow room, my first grow without exhausting hoods or anything. The a/c unit draws air from the outside when the compressor runs and exhaust that hot air produced back to the outside (This is completely separate from the air being drawn from the front of the unit and blown back out.) The air in the room is never exhausted so no need to worry about smell being brought outside. :yay: Also allows for Co2 to actually be used effectively.

For some reason I feel like that was a horrible explanation, if you need anymore info feel free to ask.

oh interesting... I was under the impression that AC units cycled the hot air from the room to outside and blew cold air into the room. so you're saying that yours just cools the air from the room and then blows it back into the room? the hot exhaust air is completely separate from the air in the room? That's very interesting, thank you for the response! btw, it was very clear, thanks :)

I'm trying to build an 8K room right now and I think you may have just solved my biggest hurdle :yay: would you mind telling me the make and model of your AC unit?

Yep mine just cools the air in the room. The hot air exhausted is separate. Otherwise you wouldn't have a sealed room, that decreases the effectiveness of Co2 imo. It also allows for bugs or mold to potentially get into your room. A sealed room is sweet but you'll need a beasting dehumidifier to go with your a/c unit. The a/c unit I have is a Topaz, not sure the model but it's the 42,000btu. With that unit you'll be fine to plug in up to 10K depending on the dimensions of your room. It's 6500 bucks...
If you're going to build an 8K room I would personally recommend the sealed room method. The crew of people I know all do it this way, and their method works! We can only do 12 plants in bloom legally and still can pull 2 pounds per light....60 days of veg, tie down method...
If you have any questions or need any help with designs for your room feel free to hit me up. Peace.

GreenForce,
Thanks bro. That construction was a beast, so happy it's all done. Everything is running so sweet right now, feels like all that hard work is paying off right now. It's all about planning, can't stress it more...Peace bro.

well I tried to send you a private message so I don't hijack your thread any further but I don't think either of us have enough posts haha!

I think sealed is the only way to run a room of that size. Air cooling the lights and running passive intake via the light ducting is just way too hardcore for anything above 2KW in my experience. I'm thinking about running a closed circuit for cooling the lights and then sealing the room with an Air Conditioner. I would guess that if the lights are cooled separately from the room then I can probably get away with a bit of a smaller AC unit right?

Clean setup man. Plan on running something similar to that size when i get out to cali just for me and my roommates. Trying to work it out to be there caregivers. Def gonna be watching this one.

Very impressive. I'll be watching. If your looking for tips on your strains ask away. Lavender is great smoke but not a big yield er. Just curious, you mentioned your blue dream was from seeds? I thought it was clone only.
Can't wait to watch your success. Sounds like you truly deserve it. Best of luck, but judging from what I've read in this thread you don't need it.

Yea if you're going to cool the lights separately, than you could definitely go with a smaller a/c unit. Personally I didn't want to cut anymore holes in my room, deal with ducting and have to put glass on my hoods. I know someone who does exactly what you're talking about though, and they really like their setup...

Fireman,
Thanks for following. Hope you can make it out to cali sooner than later. Until then be safe and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Ganja D,
Hey thanks for the offer, I could always use some advice on strains. I figured the Lavender isn't a big yielder.... I only have two of them, and by the time I throw them into flowering they will have been in veg for 100 days  so hopefully that should make up for the lower yield.
Veg room is looking pretty good right now... I have some Sensi Shiva Skunk I'm gonna pop next week, and I just ordered Dj Short Grape Krush and Flo both on the way :dance013:.
Haha okay you got me, :pointlaugThe true Blue Dream is for sure a clone only strain. However, I was in LA this summer and I bought 2 amazing pounds of blue dream, (the best blue dream I have seen in fact) in those 2 pounds, I found 4 seeds. After reading about the legendary chemdawg strains and how they were discovered, I got inspired to germ these. Probably nothing special, but I was encouraged by some of the members here to finish them out and see how they finish. Should be fun. Peace.

Alright let me start this update by asking if any of you scroggers out there are ready for a laugh? Seriously I messed this scrog up!!!! I'll admit I've never done a scrog before so I wasn't quite sure how tall I should let the branches get, but damn I know I fucked up... After lots of reading I realized I made a couple huge errors when putting on my trellis. The main mistake I make, I threaded the branches through the trellis instead of forcing all of it down and letting very little through the trellis if that makes sense. Here's what I'm talking about....
Yep, I can almost hear you laughing from the other side of the internet. I really didn't expect them to grow that much the first 21 days of bloom. These things are HUGE! They don't resemble my friends plants who actually uses trellis successfully. Seriously, I'm going to work on this for the next run, learning curve I guess.
Here are a bunch of shots , Day 21 in flowering...how do they look???

My apologies for these weak photos, I've been taking all of these with my camera phone...I'm gonna bring my 14 mega pix in here to try and get some better photos for everyone next week. Until then grow in peace. Chuurch.

Buddah,
I'm giving this whole scrog thing a go because of limited plant numbers where I live. If I were to do a sog I would need like 200 plant to fill the space. As it is, I veg my plants in a separate room for at least 60 days before I move them into the bloom room. My goal is to harvest every 63 days...I'm allowed to have 12 plants in veg and 12 plants flowering by law ,so right now I'm figuring out how to be legal and still get the yields I want. So far I think this is the only way. The crew I know runs all their rooms like this and they're able to achieve 2 p's per light every 8 weeks. With 10K running on my next run I'm going to have between 12-14 plants in the room and my goal is for 20 p's... This has been a great first run in the room. I wish I had more plants, but it'll be cool to see what these girls yield, normally I wouldn't have 5K over 2 plants but I really need these to turn out....
Question, how would running a sog over a scrog save me money? I'm always up for cost saving tips, so any info would be great. Peace.

Alright, I've been so busy it's been crazy. I'm at day 33 of flowering and everything is looking cool. I've been using House and Garden nutes and so far I've been pretty happy...I start the shooting powder next week, so I think I should see a boost is their size over the next couple weeks, what do you think? Here are some photos from day 31. Peace.
