PL-L + LEDs

Hi members!
I'd sign in to the The Official 1 sqft Challenge.

I have some experience about the high power leds and i'd try mixed with pl-l's. Interesting, no?

So, the cab inside size is :
H:65cm
W:23cm
L:60cm
A=60x23=1380cm2
1ft=30,48cm
1,5sqft=1,5x30,48x30,48=1393cm2

A<1,5sqft

Method of Growing: Clone or Seed, still dont know

Pics of cab: posted the parts and the box structure
Cab specs: 1,5sqftx2ft
Light specs: 110W PL-L and 24W Osram Red (16 LEDs--4x12V/500mA circuits)
Method of growing: Sog or SCRoG
Strain: WW or WR
Medium: hempy perhaps...

The PDF file is the plan, the signature is my first and second run with LEDs.

Very interested to watch! I understand PL-L + RED LED is becoming a favored way to grow in many places, nice to see someone pop in here starting a set up
Cheers!

Just noticed that you're from the spanish(led)forums, you guys have interesting projects over there! With google translator I can barely undertand what's going on :) .

i am glad someone else is doing this, i agree through my research that pl-l's and red leds is a perfect way to go. LED's are the obvious answer. Since blue LEDs are more expensive then red, by using pl-l's in place of blue LEDs you cover a wide range including all the blue wavelengths. I have been unable to build a cab for economic reasons right now, but i have spent a lot (READ: A LOT) of time thinking about it.

I was planning on using aquarium actinic pl-l's because they give off only blue light in the wavelength that plants need. They also make combo PL-Ls that have dual peak spectrum for 420nm actinic 460nm, which are essentially the peaks for chlorophyll. My final plan was to use a 420/460nm mix and a 460/10000k mix, to get mostly blue light, with a little bit of mixed spectrum from the 10000k light.

(note this is the spectrum from a 10000k t8 fluro not a 460/10000k pl-l and is just for comparison. I also believe that the actinic must emit more UV light on account of being on that side of the spectrum.

If you are down to do some reading, another cool thing you can do with this setup is the Martian Method (aka Partial Artificial Darkness), it involves keeping the red light on 24/7... i have not found much good info about it on IC, but there are some good resources over on treating yourself dot com (is it against the forum rules to post a competing website? i read them I promise, but there was a lot and i got a little volcano going on), also Weezard on here knows a butt load about it

Hi

As I said before, you need the 50 posts to join social groups. I don't think that's a secret thing, just kind of troll-avoidance practice etc. Most of the pictures there are scattered around in those led-threads that anyone can see.

But, anyways good luck with pl-l+led-combo! I was thinking of small cmh + red leds the other day..
