Emotions

I really do enjoy emotions, namely that of sadness. Not sure it if sounds weird to some of you, but I do love sadness. It's such a powerful and great feeling. Aside from that, without feeling sadness, feeling happiness would feel such less importance. Of course being sad may seem awful at the time, but even then I think that being sad / upset only ignites more emotion.

I think the book that is most related to this would be Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley.

I hate emotions. I had an 'incident' in the military that caused some brain damage. One thing it did to me was make me aware of emotions. I guess prior to that I was a cold S.O.B., it is kinda like a drug now, they are interesting, frightening and confusing to me.

I grew up with a pretty unemotional father who I idolized for his resolution in matters. He never let feelings get in the way of what needed to be done, may it be a gash in his hand, a bad day at work, or just a bad day.

I am now embracing emotions, it is hard, but not too hard. The one I have a problem with the most is anxiety. Never was anxious before.

P.s. I know tear up at times when watching movies, hell, even a commercial once.

Oh, in no way am I saying that handling emotions is easy, per se, however in no way do I wish that I had any less of the emotion that I feel.

I do, at times, wish I had more control (like I used to) of my emotions. I guess the fact that I have realized I am not always in control of my emotions, led me back to the VA for therapy. She is lovely and really helps me embrace them.

You wanna feel alot of sadness and roller coast emotions, smoke daily, then stop cold turkey. Withdrawals can be hard, for a week or so you get more sensitive to emotions and dreams etc. I don't like the feeling..

Emotions are cool and all but they should be held close and kept between yourself, never share them and always hold them in check, they definately have no business online in a public forum!!

I appreciate emotions, they make us feel alive

even if they make us feel crappy and can be quite overwhelming.....................

I think what you do with them is what matters, as long as they are not destructive to self or others.. and are not overwhelming. I don't think being stuck in one for a long time is healthy either.. alltho being manic for a while can be fun LOL

They are quite useless...

Leftover monkey so to speak :D. But all in all it's a complete waste of time. Overly emotional people are like drug addicts, infact i am certain addiction is caused by being overly emotional. Emotions have caused us nothing but harm in the big picture. If it were not for the few people who chose rationality instead of emotion we would still be living in the stone age.

Emotions are not a sign of weakness in the animal kingdom..it's the only thing in the animal kingdom. Rationality is what makes humans special. 1+1=2 no matter if you like it or not..

To summarise..Emotions lead to bad judgement, bad judgement leads to suffering..nothing good about suffering.

So would you much prefer to live in a society such as that presented in Brave New World? In the sense that there is no sadness, people only feel "happiness"?

What is happiness without sadness? How can we know that happiness is so great with nothing to compare it to?

Hapiness is just as useless as sadness..

The only emotion i cling to is the feeling of standing in awe..I like to see how things work! I like to see progress. I say this is not hapiness because for most people happy = love. The feeling i am talking about is totally outside of human interaction. It can only be between you and the material world. I think it is about 50% comfort and 50% fascination. The good thing about it..is that it's stable..
