Suggestions for staying safe while transporting?

Imagine this: its the end of the outdoor season, the plants are ready to be harvested, but the main concern is getting them home safely. What suggestions do you have for getting it from the guerrilla patch to the safe house?

Whats the best way to package it without it getting mold or damaged etc?

Outdoor hang dry for a few days to get the bulk down and help with the smell some. Then I throw it in smell proof bags made for hunting and then that bag goes into a contractors bag and into a backpack.

Hike it out, throw it in the trunk(not the backseat). drive like you normally would and you should be fine.

deep breaths.......eat a meal before you go work. Moving herb not only is work but it smells!!

A guy i know goes to his spot and bring a large collapsable bag or backback big enough for what he can carry back to his vehicle. While at the plants he does a quick trim of the fan leaves and other big leaves (you can also trim them completely at this point), then he throws the stalks in the bag, each stalk being trimmed up to 24 inches length so they will fit in larger bag. Use a clean plain white bed sheet and lay the stalks on the laid out sheet and then carefully wrapp up the wet stalks in the sheet, and place the roughly 2 foot bunch of stalks in his bag/backpack.....he then hikes carefully (usually at dawn or dusk) back to the car/transport and then places the bag in a larger back/pack and places it in the trunk. If using a truck, maybe go for a locked storage case in the bed of the truck. Smell is the number one worry so think about that first.

Deep breaths are key and eating well also is good. Stay safe

depending on location and time a change of clothes can go a long way too; half the time cops see people driving by in a glance and decide if they want to go fishing or not.. leave the tie-dyes at home and look like a good ol' boy if possible... not to mention the scent clinging to whatever u were wearing... even something as simple as changing a flannel can make a big difference

also if you have the space/time those giant bags for mattresses you can vacuum the air out of should work better than a trash bag; big car; power convertor and you can lock the odor down before you ever leave the forrest

if you're chopping and carrying they really really reek

have a reason for being where you are when you are; was out fishing(have permit and pole; watching nature(camera with random nature pics); writing poetry (notebook with poety) etc... if it's late say you fell asleep, lost track of time, got lost, etc.. and are just happy to have found your car.

remember if leo was smart they wouldn't be leo

hope that helps; that's just off the top of my head

bear bags also work well for containing the stink!
if a bear can't smell through it, you're golden.....

This and cleanliness.

it has got to be the most risky part of outdoor growing-transporting bin liners of stinky wet weed. The main thing to do is get it out of sight in bags/containers that contain the smell as much as possible. Go looking like a geography teacher in a legel vehicle etc-the same rules that apply to moving ganja at any time really.

The idea of having a dog (a live one not a rotting corpse) is always a good thing-it can deter the cops from being nosey-they may need to call a dog handler-leave the collar off. Having a dog can also be good cover for comming and going to an outdoor thing.

Never used the poetry excuse with coppers before-if you tried that in the UK they'd search you straight away-then get heavy with the sarcasm.
Whatever you do-don't do what we did last October. My friend turned up in a battered 15year old Nissan Micra with one headlight out-couldn't fit all the bags in the tiny boot so most of it went on the back seat-fixed the light-then he's doing 90 up the M5 chasing an Audi. I went ballistic.

good luck with it everyone

Geez I must be lazy then. I have a jeep with pretty dark tinted windows in the back. All I do is lay the seat down put down a tarp, hack and slash, pile pile pile, cover it with another tarp and a moving blanket, then do the speed limit the whole way home. I've had to go 50+ miles this way, no problems. I just roll the windows up in town. they're gonna find it no matter how you hide it so why make them hunt? then again i guess most people arent running around with floor to ceiling bud in their rigs(stupid high pucker factor)... when I get to my processing area then I trim, hang and get fuckered up.
I love Nor-Cal, nobody even looks up at the smell of weed..

i know this is not going to fit everyones situation but, fire roads/train tracks/unused roads/and private property are your freind. i usually go between rain overcast and night the worst conditions possable and i almost never see anyone. i say almost cause there are people that live on the tracks under bridges ect.... but it salways a postive experience gettin home safe cause i never see LEO.

Bring a bottle of rubbing alcohol to wash the hands with and get the smell off. Cheap insurance for a buck or two.

Wow! Some of the best advice I've ever read on this board with regard to one's security.

"Way back" in the late 1970's when I was involved in utter levels of stupidity it was LAW by the folks I was involved with that when you entered a city - even in just passing through - you got the f*cking car washed. You showered. You were shaved. You had clean clothes on. You looked like a friggin' tourist in route.

It worked. Go figure.

Definitely not what I look like now,but when I did run some pounds across a few states I cleaned up real good Pa. Always look like you are a total square, cops don't look at you twice.

If possible do it when it is raining, all the water, wind and everything tends to blow a ton of scents all over the place PLUS cops don't run to pull over people when it is raining or at least not as much.

Another thing but it depends on how you look at it. One trip, all done at once OR playing the odds and doing smaller quantities so that IF you get tagged you won't get tagged for a ton.

Some useful suggestions, the main issue is obviously the smell. I'm expecting at least 40lbs dry so this should be quite a large volume when still wet... Also, the grow site will be a 10 hour drive away from where I'm going to store it...

I was thinking a uhaul type van with the plants wrapped in newspaper and then possibly in some kind of plastic containers to help minimize smell. I guess if stopped its all over, but if going the speed limit with a legit vehicle, then all should be okay?

I'm thinking of having something like three cars involved, so 5-10 miles in front is a spotter to watch out for road blocks, in the middle is the van and right behind the van is another car to make sure that leo can't come right behind the van... We'll have phones or radios to communicate...

This is all I can really think of doing, any thing else someone wants to add?
