It's a "Dog eat dog" world out there, not saying you have to sink to the lowest common denominator tactics to succeed, just saying that one's greatest triumphs usually come after the greatest (feeling) defeats.

A piece of advice that was given to me as a very young man:

If you want different things out life than you've been getting, you have to go about it diffently than you have been.

Take it for what it's worth :joint:

you got some work to do man.

i started throwing this stuff out of my way a long time ago... it's a daily struggle.

stop believing your 'stories". stop propping them up and embellishing them; they are lies. this is what you used to be, not who you are.

"i'm 'this way'. they are 'that way'. all bullshit... yeah you have been lied to, hell yeah! but the lies you tell yourself are the most damaging.

don't hold yourself up to a 'reality' that you think exists outside of yourself... it is YOU that gives meaning to the universe. until you realize this you are dancing with shadows.

wow that sounds like a hell of a midlife crisis...maybe you should try to do something you enjoy doing as a career or look at developing new hobbies. or you could always try some zanax

"more to please other people and have things work out the way they said that they would.
I was used. Over and over and over, and I was used up, and thrown away."

Chivalry is all but dead, there are very few instances where it isn't. You can take shit, peacefully resolve conflict, treat people with respect and go through the system and the motions and still end up fucked in the end and get nothing in return. Society is degrading I dare anyone to try and state otherwise, shallowness, greed and corruption are becoming more and more common place. It is more of a dog eat dog world then ever before, and nobody can avoid being influenced by it in some way shape and form, I myself catch myself being guilty of these traits on occasion.

I could go into 100 different examples but thinking about this pisses me off. People don't care about 90% of the shit people do in life now has no meaning to them.

Want some advice listen to music it will never let you down, betray you, or fuck you over and always has some advice to give. Put effort into what you are doing and find something you care about and use it as a stable building block. Focus on what is good and makes you happy and build your life around that in some way. If everything starts seeming like shit all the time and nothing is entertaining for you try a mild anti-depressant it WILL NOT make you happy but it will smooth out the bumps along the way. Society is fucked don`t ignore it but always keep it in mind. Peace and hope everything turns out for the better. And now go look at pics of bud it will make you smile.

This is happening to alot of us....we're so conflicted about what to do or what we're supposed to do.

Now I'm slightly confused on just what the issue is exactly, and where you'd like to go from here...

Thought I had a handle on it....not so much now.

*scratches head*

Still hope you figure it out and make it happen cap'n ;)

I was used. Over and over and over, and I was used up, and thrown away. I'm in the same place that I was when I was in highschool, except I don't have any of the teenage optimism.

My :2cents:.

You allow yourself to get used. Sounds like maybe you blame a lot of what happens to you on other people? The, "It's not my fault", syndrome. Sounds like you "everyone else" is holding you back. "It's the system". Those are called excuses and they don't do shit for helping you, except rationalize your own shortcomings.

In reality, you are the only one in your way. It's like that for everyone IMO. We blame it other people to cope with our failings because that's something that's hard to come to terms with for some people.

BTW if you hate going to work you'll probably not going to climb the ladder.

I'm not quite sure what you are getting around too, but instead of you staying the same and running everyone over, why not try and look at where you are screwing up and try and fix that. You'll probably have a lot better results.

I'm a criminal and I wouldn't have it any other way.... Kidding, I speed and smoke weed...a few other things, but a very good citizen indeed. I have learned to take life for what it is.....stop asking too many questions, make your home a fuckin' sanctuary and spend a lot of time their away from chaos. Someone up their said the universe is what you make it....they are not lying. Your state of mind and how you deal with the bullshit in this life, are completely up to you.

Sounds like you're trying to figure out how to be happy and find your place in the world...make your place wherever you want.

The Man In The Glass

Anonymous

When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day,
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself
And see what that man has to say.

For it isn’t your father or mother or wife
Whose judgment upon you must pass.
The fellow whose verdict counts most in you life
Is the one staring back from the glass.

You may be like Jack Horner and chisel a plum
And think you’re a wonderful guy.
But the man in the glass says you’re only a bum
If you can’t look him straight in the eye.

He’s the fellow to please-never mind all the rest,
For he’s with you clear to the end.
And you’ve passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the man in the glass is your friend.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass.
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you’ve cheated the man in the glass.

For some reason, I just broke out into song.....

Anita Baker's - You Bring Me Joy...:whistling:

It's in the details, brother ;)

So you're saying rather than blaming people I SHOULD do whatever I want

My family used to own a Supermarket years ago and I was running it as the Manager there. I always checked our orders, signed invoices, mailed checks, hired and fired employees, and chit-chatted with customers for friendly service to have them coming back.

We used to have a Bum that came into our Supermarket, we called him J.D cause he loved whiskey, and I would give him free canned foods and other small things (it used to break my heart) and one day I decided to bullshit with him and see what he's all about.

He told me something (a BUM) that was kind of odd but I still remember it to this day. He said "do you believe that when you die your going to go to Heaven or Hell?". And I said, "not really, I kind of don't think about it much". Although I do believe in God, I for some reason, don't really believe in all the Heaven and Hell hype. I figure we'll all be judged but whatever about that.

Well he told me, "when you die, your not going to see any of these people anyway so who gives a shit what they think about you. You got a smoke for me?" (I loved how nonchalant he went from SERIOUS RELIGIOUS talk to smoking a cigarette) and it kind of made me think....... you know what....... maybe he's right?

Who cares what people think about you? It's YOUR life, you have to do what YOU think is right. You go out and do the best you can for yourself because you ONLY have yourself. And as you get older it becomes clearer to you that not many people REALLY give a fuck about you anyway. They'll smile in your face. They'll wish you well. But their probably hoping you won't ask them for money or for a job. Just do your thing and succeed but don't bother them.

That is advice for you. Stop feeling sorry for yourself because others are holding you down. They may say or do whatever they like to you, but once you reach "success", they will all run to you with their hands out and you will be their favorite cousin/brother/son/family member/friend, etc.....

Live YOUR life. We only get one shot at this Video Game and no one else can play it for you.

Uh, yeah. It's your life bro. As long as you are not hurting anyone maliciously, then do your deal.

You wanna know what one of my favorite phrases is? No excuses.

Even if it was obviously someone else's fault, in my mind, it's still my fault because it didn't get done. No excuse.

Blaming other people is how we rationalize our own failures. 99.9% of the time it's you (or me) that could have fixed the problem.

If you spend your life worrying about what everyone else is doing to you and how you are such the victim, you'll never get anything done for yourself.
