ROOTZ: The Beginning

Greetings fellow growers.

Well, after tinkering, tweaking and making all-out changes to my grow set-up I figured it was time to start my grow diary.

I've done A LOT of reading on this forum and have gathered oodles of info I've incorporated into my grow op. So in return for all of your contributions, I really want to start this from the beginning in hopes of creating a pretty decent guide for others to refer back to. Hopefully as I update this journal it'll generate some good feedback that will continue to help others. 'Cause you know I'm gonna f**k up sooner or later and ask for assistance

Well, here's what I've got goin on so far:

#1: This is my HTG mother keeper tent running a 4 bucket DIY Ebb&Grow set-up built from instructions I found on the DIY forum. It has a 4" inline duct fan for exhausting stale air and a 6" fan for circulation. The ambient temp hangs right around 50* so I have a baseboard heater lingering behind the buckets and have it set at 70*.
Right now I have a Strawberry Haze and a Super Lemon Skunk mum vegging out. The other 2 empty buckets had a wimpy looking 3PPP seedling and a really thin Hawaiian Snow seedling, both of which got pulled. Sorry!!

#2: Here's a pic of the 25gal res and 5gal controller filling and draining the buckets in the tent. I also have an 18w air pump pumping O2. Right now I'm flooding every 4hrs. for 15mins.

#3: This is the GHS strawberry haze mum. She's been topped and the new grow tips have been fim'd have been fim'd. I also prunned some of the leaves from the center of the plant for better light penetration. I'm basically trying to follow the rules of growing out bonsai mums.

#4: Top shot.

#5: Here's the lemon skunk that's also been topped. She's really a slow grower..

#6: Top shot LS.

#7: Here's my Homebox XS seedling/clone tent with a 175w MH. Temps range from 68-70* and humidity is 45-50.

#8: Here's a GHS great white shark seeding vegging out. This little lady is being fed with a simple mix of ThriveAlive, Maxicrop and molasses.

So the next plan of action is to:
- Veg the (3) pure power plants and the GWS in my flower tent, under CMH bulbs (500w total), and collect a few viable clones.
- Then flower them all under 400w CMH/250w HPS, single cola style.

This portion of the grow will be done in autopots filled with moonshine's mix. They will be fed a guano tea once at the beginning of flowering and again in the middle of flowering. Below is a pic of my DIY guano tea brewer.

Well there it is in a nutshell. I'm sure I've left a lot out so if anyone has any questions or comments please post 'em up. AND, don't forget to check in from time to time, as I will be updating this journal periodically.

Oh yeah, forgot to throw this pic in the mix.

Even though I measured the tap water at about 43ppm, which I'm sure is attributed to an inline filter, I still wanted the H20 to be as pure as possible. Soooo, I invested in the reverse osmosis/deonizer you see here and feeds a 32 gallon trash can/res.

Even after the inline H20 house filter there still seems to be some "stuff" in the water, as evidence from looking through the clear micron filter housing. See the brown spots on what would otherwise be a clean white filter?

Anyhow, the water is now at 0ppm with a ph of 7.0.

Wow, that's a legit looking setup you got there. The results from your fim and topping look impressive to, so many tops on such a small plant.

That's a pretty serious DIY setup you have going on. Very slick and well thought out. Love it. What kind of lights are you running?

Thanks K.J
I have:
- Sun Blaze 4' (4) lamp 6500k in the mother tent

- 175w HTG MH in the Homebox

- (not pictured) My Growlab GL80 tent has a Sun System dual spectrum reflector which will house either a pair of 250w/400w CMH bulbs or a pair of 250w/400w HPS bulbs.
