Low's flower and grow-show 2010

Hey everybody :wave:

This thread will be a continuation of my journal, for some more detail on the soon to be flowering ladies look here
But just to give a bit of an intro; I've started some Safarimix beans back in august '09, due to a some grower errors almost all of em died except one hardy lil plant which finally grew into the young lad you see here :

His flowers are just beginning to develop now so i'm gonna go ahead with me last-minute plan and let him impregnate all the ladies that are going to show up in a couple days, or one more week..hopefully fingers crossed!!
And since I mentioned ladies.. here are a few pix of the Northern Lights feminized beans by Green Label Seeds..

So far my plans are to let them all become pregnant with new seeds and well to quote meself

The Safarimix appears to be forming male pre-flowers..now i'm interested in preserving my Safarimix so i'm gonna let it/him flower out and thusly impregnate my two Big Bangs which are from feminized seed stock..curious to see what the resulting beans will be like, will they produce homogenous results either feminized or regular or will the result be an interesting mix, or will they all be turning into hermies???
Don't know anything about that but what I do know is that the Mandala genetics are sturdy and stable and have landrace genetics inthere genetic make up, I'm a little bit less certain about the sturdiness of the GHS genetics but still...should be a nice re-combination of Asian genetics and effects..should make for some really interesting smoke

Don't know exactly what my plans are goin to be with the NL girls, grow em a bit bigger obviously but if the Safmix male is going to take it's time impregnating my Big Bang girlies then I might have to start flowering my NL's in me small tent..unless of course I decide I want another interesting lil cross with femmed genetix in the mix...then I'm gonna chuck the NL girlies inthere as well and let the Safmix male have his fun with them as well

Like I said, I haven't made me mind up yet, it all depends on how quick the male will be...Pun Intended

So that's what I plan to do :biggrin:

I've also started another round of beans again because I really do want to grow enough for meself so on with the perpetual gro-show

The lil ones have been stretching towards the lights so much that I thought it necessary to take em out of their starter cubes and give them all their own pots with seedling soil. And i got another pleasant surprise---> Amnesia Kush #5 decided to show it's head so now i've got 3 Hashberry babies and 5 Amnesia Kush :woohoo:

all's going well apart from the yellowing Big Bangs but they're finicky eaters, better underfeed then overfeed has become my motto when it comes to these two so we'll see how they pan out..nothing more to report

Day one of Veg-period

Yesterday i've replanted Amnesia Kush #5 because it was stretching towards the lights like crazy and I didn't want it to flop down..
Today I've set the timers to 18/6 and since all me babies have sprouted their second set of true leaves i'll mark today as the start of growing, so as of today me seedlings are officially growing plants

Them amnesia kush's should be interesting to watch, surprised I hadn't noticed your thread yet. So have you grown out a lot of mandala's gear? If so which strain is represented in him, in your opinion. I personally think that it looks like a Satori Plant. Anyway glad i found yer '10 thread. Should be good fun. :smokeit:

To answer y'r question, no I haven't grown out a lot of Mandala's gear just yet. Infact these beans were from the packs I purchased over 2 years ago, :yoinks:

although they might be older..stoner memory ya know

. but thanks for letting me know what the Mandala male looks like most, as far as I can remember those Safarimix packs consisted of a mixture between White Satin and Satori at that time..
And yeah those Amnesia Kush's sure should be interesting, i'm just hoping I can do them justice :thinking:

I've repotted me Big Bangs into 15 ltr pots filled with an almost 50/50 mix of potting soil and worm poo, here's to hopin' that's not too hot a mix.. :yes:

I've noticed some tiny tiiiinnnyy hairs on one of the Big Bangs the others haven't shown me pre-flowers yet..i've resorted to catching pollen from the Safmix male via a piece of cardboard folded around the base of the stem..ghetto pollen catching or what

Been to a'dam to see Top Gear Live and bought me some special deal weed @ the Katsu..
Huh? Special Deal Weed??

yup they have a special menu with deals like 2 grms of NL/SilverPearl for €20 or 2.90 grams of Crystal Clear Hash for € 110. They also have a regular hash and a regular weed menu but the deals menu was on top and since I was looking for something special for a special price :biglaugh:

The Katsu menu classified the NL/SP as a "heavy stone"

Very smooth on the inhale, tastes kinda sweet but a lil dank on the exhale

my face feels like i've just come inside out of the freezing cold, warm and rozy?!? (sp?), me feet feel heavy but not leaden yet..

yet i'm still capable of typing and logical thought etc..
time for another bowl (the one i'm using right now is classed as a small one so I can take about 3 to 4 good hits before it's all gone)

and I haven't even hit that second bowl

I'd say it's workin it's magic already, not much pain and enough mental clarity to keep focussed while feeling relaxxed. It's good! :smokeit:

I'm a lil bit worried about HB #1&2, #3 seems to thrive far better

and just to keep things on track..they started their second week of growing today..

Big Bang #2
The other Big Bang hasn't made it, either the soil was way too hot or they're just very very finicky, don't know what else to do or not do..because the two Northern Lights are in the same soil mixture and they do not look half as bad as the Big Bang..new growth on that one comes in yellow almost white!

I'm afraid to feed it at all eventhough it plainly needs some but i'm just not sure whether i'm gonna be hurting or helping it..hmm :chin:

notes to self: today marks the first week of flowering for the Northern Lights and the second week of flowering for the remaining Big Bang

and just in case you're wondering what all that dusty stuff is...that's the pollen from me safmix stud, i'd noticed hairs sprouting out of the top of both me NLs so i figured it was time to chuck some pollen on them

Just shook the male all over the the two NLs and the remaining Big Bang, now i'm curious to find out if any pollen took, gotta wait a couple more weeks for that.. :drum:

Well, i gave all the babies a big drink(on monday) with a very light dosage of bio-grow(bio-bizz nutes à 1ml/L) during their sleepy time and suffice it to say...they've thanked me for it :biglaugh:

Everything's truckin' along nicely!

First off some bad news..Seems both the Big Bangs didn't like the amended soil, the first one died last week and the other one didn't look too healthy either so i've pulled that one also :badday:

The Northern Lights are still going strong apart from the burning of the older leaves....not sure what's going on there..

And yeah I know, this one is showing clear signs of a deficiency..i'm just not sure which one!
Last but not least, a pic of me Safmix stud..
I think this one isn't gonna do much more pollenspewing any more so he's gonna get composted pretty soon.

Took a quick peek and new seeds are forming!! :dance013:

the NL#3 has seeds forming for sure and the NL#1 has gotten some orange pistils and hardened calyxxes too!
So I think it's save to say I'm going to be getting some nicely mixxed plants next season :biggrin:

Took the stud out since his work is now done and he was getting pretty old an ugly

Fed the ladies a mixture of Bio-Grow, -Bloom and a light dosage of TopMaxx.

the lil ones are growin like weeds

and are starting to stink already so i've put me homemade filter plus bathroom fan inside. I'll run the the fan pretty much 16/8 as I'm a light sleeper and the veg-tent is in me bedroom.

Well the homemade filter needs new carbon I think because there was still some "suspicious" smells emenating from the grow-area so I've put in the other filter+compfan that I'd bought some years ago..this filter does work, no more "suspicious" smells

News from the flower-tent is pathetic!! They're burning up all the big fanleaves..but new growth is plentifull and green :dunno:

No pix because me battery died...gonna have to replant them in fresh soil but haven't got the € for new soil yet..
News from the veg-tent is considerably better!
THey've all been transplanted today into they're own 5 litres of fresh generic potting soil...

It's day 25 of veg for all the 8 babies.. 20 more days to go (give or take a few days)
