Update:

There is another poll which looks more helpful, here Lowest light intensity with good results?

The assumption of this thread was that the grow space was a small cab, a few cubic feet,... and how low wattage can be used to produce buds in that small a space.

The poll above is more helpful since it involves the amount of space. Though to be even more helpful, cubic feet could be used. X amount of watts in a 3 square foot space, 2 feet high... is different than the same wattage in a 3 square foot space, 5 feet high? math suddenly seems extremely fuzzy and arbitrary trying to figure this out lol

This thread still stands, for the benefit of focusing on low-watts for specifically small cabs... and photos of course!

add this at the top: okay wiseguys, the poll and thread are for Indoor grows using electric lighting ;)

Please only post if you are interested in low-wattage grows, and you are posting about using 100 watts or less.

If you don't like low-wattage grows or don't think they work, that's perfectly okay. peace :)

I was curious, since the true limits are far from the commonly accepted ones  ... what is the smallest watt grow that will result in a good/adequate grow.

Post your photos with watts/bulb specifics, and grow medium/technique!
Please post your best photos, as opposed to only linking to a thread. though supplying a thread link along with the photos is even better!

Anyone with less than 20 watts, please share as much info as you can :) !

The smallest amount of lights was 80w shoplight. Sorry no pics but it was a cool grow but I added another 2 shoplights for the next grow. NOW I use the 3 shoplights to veg with and I flower under a 400w hps.

A buddy of mine flowered some clones under 3 or 4 CF bulbs from Home Depot. Yield wasn't a lot but he did good for his first grow ever.

Okay, now this ish is getting rediculous... Least amount of wattage used for a complete grow??? WoW, you guys are so bored!!! Well, let me put my vote in, oh wait, they don't a 2400 watt complete grow option, damn, there's goes another one...

why the hate? not all of us have the means to bust out hundreds of pounds of herb from warehouses, some of us grow as a hobby and as a means of getting past the expense. there's still just as much care taken in these grows to have a good harvest as in commercial grow, i don't see why you have to act like mr. big time when it comes to micro

Yep, my interest is to see What Is Possible. After seeing the results of the official High-Pod, that shattered the common sense laws about what kelvins are needed for a good grow. Seeing photos of some LED grows breaks the doubts of LED potential.

Sure, high wattage lighting can produce big plants and yields, and it's all very interesting experimenting with how to maximize that and seeing the results...
...but the focus on this here thread is on efficiency and minimalism, either for it's benefits of less energy, less heat, less fan noise, simplicity, or just for experimenting and fun.

lol, you are severely exaggerating with the "hundred of pounds". You would need a hell of a lot more than a few thousand watts to be harvesting that much. You don't need a warehouse to have a few thousand watts of light.

He's got a point though. Sure, you COULD grow some plants on a few watts but why? It's pretty pointless when a 70w or 150w HPS should be more than small enough for anyones situation.

And just as much care goes into smaller grows? I don't think so. I only use a 1000W, and taking care of 12-16 full size plants at once is not that easy. The smaller the grow, the easier it is to care for them IMO.

Nothing against micro growers, i'm just saying i think you are a little off on some things.

Fidel, I wasn't hating at all! I'm actually reading this thread as comedy!!! After reading the title, "What is the fewest watts you have seen used for a 'good' complete grow?" and seeing the first voting option of less than 5 watts, it was like good and 5 watts, LMAO!!! No Hate! JUST COMICAL!!! Closet growing was my specialty when I first started so I don't diss it, but 5 watts? 10 watts? 15 watts? Okay so at least bring it up to the average light bulb 50-75 watts as the first option, please remember, 2400 watts is still small growing...

By the way, I'm no Mr. BigShot at all, just Aero...

The sun puts out more than zero watts btw...

Journal Article

The sun is a large body in space that is 150 million kilometers away from earth. The sun's energy makes life possible on earth. The heat from the sun creates weather and winds. Its energy can be used to run machines yet most of the sun's energy is lost in space. The Earth only receives about one two-billionth of the sun's total energy. Some people don't believe this because the sun seems so hot in the summer. According to the World Book Encyclopedia, "about 126 trillion horsepower is sent to earth."Dividing the converted value of 9.4 × 1016 watts by 2 × 10-9 gives a total power of 4.7 × 1025 watts.

feel free to laugh then . but please just laugh to yourself or start a new thread for it. Hoping to focus this thread on -data-. Opinions are fun but muddy things a bit.

Only post if you have pics or specs on a low-watt grow you did... or if you have some complimenting, inquiring, or comparative thoughts to share :dance013:
