Plants that smell like cat piss?!?!

Hi everybody,

I am a first timer, just a couple of days short of my first harvest...(I CAN'T WAIT!!)

I've got two plants here-Indica strains, that smell like Tomcat piss. I am not kidding. When touching the stems, I literally cannot get the smell off of my fingers. VERY strong odor.

Has anyone else experienced this?

(Oh-these are from clones, so unsure of genetics, especially now that I smell this!)

Are you serious? I gave a donation for these clones and they were called Chemo. (For Chemo patients-hence the name...)

If so, where can I find more info on this strain? I did a search, only found some references to dogshit, and one person mentioned an odor of cat piss...

I tried some catpiss strains in cali that came from santa cruz in the past that was indica it was pretty damn but good nothing steller. Yeah there is a strain called cat piss from cali its even documented in one of the editions of the big book of buds.

anyway catpiss is a trait that also reportedly shows up in haze strains such as super silver haze, titans haze, and sunkmans Ohaze x skunk

Catpiss is a very rare strain out of Cali.Unknowed origins, but let me tell u if u have it keep it alive ! Like i Said very rare & the high is absoulutly great!!

I can medicate with only Indica or VERY Indica dominant strains, so until I figure out exactly what I've got here, I will not be sampling this...

Also wondering if the odor could get worse? I have three of these.

Keep this thread open. There is a slight possibility you could have reprduced the Road Kill Skunk that everyone is looking for and can't seem to find. It looks to be a great strain and you better take a clone of here - please don't let her die with out a cut made. I have a feeling you have something very special there.

yeah take a clone for for sure... I guess cat piss is rare i smoked it maybe on 5 seperate occasions it is an indica dominant hybrid and stinks like hell. The buds have a golden hue to them... the people that had the stash were quite proud and it hurt there feelings when I told them it was the strain catpiss.hehe. I would say it is less potent than a good example of train wreck or road kill skunk for that matter.
but I have no idea that what you have is the same as what I have sampled in the past.

the real seed company nepalese I grew, smelled like cat piss at harvest time... it's described as being having hashy and malty scents, which is pretty close to what I got, many people say malt smells like pee.

It's quite potent too, not the most potent I've had but it's really balanced and it can go from a pleasant and euphoric buzz to trippy. the hash was great.

some outdoor pics.. we had a really rainy summer so they didn't put on a lot of weight.



but I think you can see the potential of such plants

I've got a purple chitral (m) x Nepal (f) plant growing right now, just for fun, I've got a few seeds, hopefully I'll find a good female. now that should really smell strong. the male had a nice skunky smell.

OK, all three of these girls are VERY close to harvest. This is my first medical grow, please explain things to me thoroughly, I would SO appreciate it!! If I do have something here-I really don't want to screw it up and I know you guys will steer me right.

I've posted in the growing in soil forum the most. They are in Foxfarm OF soil, no nutes until three or so weeks ago, and then a healthy dose of Organicare PURE granular bloom formula. A little less than two weeks ago, they had some molasses water. Since then, I've just been flushing about twice a week. They are under HO flouros, believe it or not.

I have no way of getting more than these, that dispensary is gone.

I would I be best off to re-veg them? Taking a cutting now, wouldn't it just die?

Even after washing my hands I can't get the odor out. Doesn't quite smell skunky, more pissy than skunk-ish for sure, but the skunk is definintely in there someplace, as is kush. Quite acrid though.

Touching/rubbing the main stem-REALLY brings that odor out.

I got a strain out of Sagarmatha's Magical Mystery Mix freebie a few years back that smelled like haze for the first few weeks of flowering but in the latter half truely stunk of cat piss. It seemed sativa dominant and also had fat calyxs. Not sure what strain it was.

yes, it's not a very rare smell, there are quite a few plants that have an acrid aroma..

the nepalese started out smelling quite spicey then woodsy, then like aged cheese and finally like a dirty litter box, it reminded me of years back when my cat was still alive... that's perfectly normal.

camphene is to blame for that smell, it's described as smelling like camphor, or like moth balls add a little humulene ( hops smell like urine too ) or myrcene but I think humulene and camphene are probably the ones that contribute to this smell.. and I think you can get that really acrid smell that just tugs you up high in your nose when both are in high concentration, it reminds me of menthol, strangely, but after curing the mentholated smell stayed in the jar, while the urine smell faded away rather quickly, humulene is said to oxidise rapidly also you will find it is quite an irritant so don't spend too much time smelling them.

either way, everything is fine.

after a good cure I find the taste of the buds to be close to spruce.. fresh and piney.. it's very refreshing

Since it is so far along I don't think revegging or taking a cutting will work at this point! But there is a way to keep it alive , I am gathering the info . I will have an answer for u when I get off work ! Peace green rasta

I recieved a clone up north called Catpiss, through investigating i was told it was called "pittsburg catpiss" or Tahoe catpiss. it is short stalky indica, that looks alot like bubba but grows faster and responds better to topping. here a few pics.

Well I did some research on the web, & there is a thing called tissue culture. It's a way of cloning plants with using only a little partof the plants tissue. Check the web they sell kits there & also at some grow stores! Good luck hope u keep it alive . Peace green rasta
