No not soccer football. I'm a Celtic fan but am too busy watching the Premiership to take any notice of them.

Liverpool do actually look like they're going to do it this year unbelievably. Rafa still has plenty time to go crazy with rotation ever and mess it up though. ManU look quite poor and big Phil is beginning to struggle. Arsenal have lost it due to a stingy chairman. Watch out or Aston Villa though, O'Neill is a legend.

Hi Arcticsun! When I read the name of topic I thought about playing nor watching. But I'm a fan of my home team FC Zenit .

FC Zenit was founded in May 1925
Trophies and Achievements:
1944 USSR's Cup
1980 Bronze Medal of the USSR's Championship
1984 Gold Medal of the USSR's Championship
1985 USSR's Super Cup
1999 Russia's Cup
2001 Bronze Medal of the Russia's Championship
2003 Silver Medal of the Russia's Championship
2003 The Russia's Premier League Cup
2007 Champion of Russia
2008 Super Cup of Russia
2008 UEFA Cup
2008 UEFA SuperCup

Now we need to get Champions Leage! Next year there'll be build new stadium for 65000 people! I'm waiting it!

You know my team coz Andrey Arshavin was born here, begin playing football here and became a proffesional sportsman.
It's very sad that Russia didn't win Germany last game, but we'll play with Slovakia.

Do you play football? I was playing football for junior-championship for 8 years until I took an injury, which ended my career as a football player. But now I can play football in spare time by imposing an elastic bandage.

Now in my country this game is #1. There are built many local football arenas for young people in city's yards.

I think the sport is a great power that must keep all people in peace. SPORT IS A LIFE!

I thought when you were talking about soccer instead of real football it was spelled futbol. Is this not accurate, or are you trying to by funny or hip or something?

Anyways, football is fun to watch. Soccer not so much.

I was once asked in a foreign country who was more famous world wide, Michael Jordan or that soccer player married to Posh Spice.... Yeah, that was even before he tried to come to the US.

Soccer is fun for kids though! They don't have to worry about getting hurt at least....

I was just giving you all a hard time. I really don't know anything about soccer, but alot of sports are fun when you are into them. Personally I like yelling at the tv every sunday while watching a little US football!

Have fun and keep your hands off the ball I guess!

Hi growclean! Here in Russsia the name of this game is football.
Is soccer only american name of this game?

Any way I think it's great to play playing sports, especially for youth people!

There's enough fight and unfortunately injuries :(

It's a hard time being a kopite at the moment. We've got so many problems, last season seems like a distant memory.

Come on you Reds! 3 points against Wigan will do for a start.

I don't know if any other countries call it soccer? Maybe in Canada? I don't really know, that is an interesting question. Maybe I will look it up!

Soccer and football are both correct, but diehard fans will only call it football. Soccer is a nickname that was used for the full name of football, Association Football.

Why did they call it Association football? Because when they made the rules up originally it was Rugby Football (Rugby/Aussie Rules are current Rugby Football) when you could use your hands - and the Association football lot wanted to just use their feet so made a whole new sport.

I'm hoping any one but United win the title this year :)

The word soccer derived in England as slang for "Association Football", [2], much like "rugger" is slang for rugby.

So over here we call it soccer, but England first started it, but doesn't keep it up? In the US football only means American Rules Football.

hammers fan here. or rot-weiss essen in germany. germany in euro or world cups...
chelsea to win it this year me thinks, but hopefully the gunners can do something...doubt it tho.
always hated manutd, so i hope they fail, but respect where its due...
nothing really against liverpool, just think the team is a little over-rated, or at least lacking depth...benetiz should go. he'll never win you a league title with his style.
fave players: fowler, dicanio, joe cole, zlatan, riquelme...i guess the list is kinda endless.
my opinions only, obviously...

Gotta say I laughed when Leeds put out the Mancs. Only two teams I really hate and that's United and the Bluenoses, others are sound.

Sgtpepper - 4 points off winning the league last season with Rafa's style. (no offence to the gooners) How about you tell me what Arsenal have won in the last 5 years with their pretty football? It's less than Benitez so style has got little to do with it. Chelsea won the league twice under Mourinho playing dull lifeless football.

We've got deeper problems than our manager's shortcomings, namely the two cancers that own our club and are destroying it from within. Selling key players and not reinvesting the money in the team, but instead using it to pay off massive debts that they've lumped us with.

Carry on believing the media and their xenophobic anti-benitez agenda but I'm not buying it.
