Thoughts on Miracle Grow Pot...

Can someone give me their thoughts, opinions, knowledge on Miracle Grow indoor potting soil. Ive been using this in my indoor grow with a touch sourghum(sp) and petemoss. Seems to work well so far, but I would like to know more from someone who has used it before or may have some knowledge about this product. I know the petemoss is acidic, does anyone know the ph levels of the MG. I have been using tap water 8.0 ph and the water which drains through is 5.8-5.9. Also, is it safe to say the Ph in my pots are at an acceptabe level? Thanks in advance and I would like to say IC is an amazing place to learn and advance my skills!!

As far as the miracle grow, it will grow pretty plants and maybe decent buds. But, it won't taste good even with a good flush unless you have a super delicious strain.
With ferts it's all about the ingredients in my opinion, and miracle grow is cheap chemicals.
Organics compared to non organics many people call organics to chemical. Remember all nutrients are made of chemicals compounds, so it should be organic compared to synthetic. Some man made synthetic fertilizers and nutrients can be made from high quality ingredients and grow high quality bud. Miracle grow is not one of them in my opinion.
I would experiment to see what works for you. Try an organic soil next time and feed/water with guano teas and kelp meal, it's simple, easy and quality basics. Research here, learn and grow from eperience.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips ganja D!! Do you feel the cheap chemical compounds in the Miracle grow mix are the reason for the tasteless goodies? I also have been using blackstrap and flora nova bloom (2nd part) for my flowering nutes on this run (which is only my second indoors). Have you used these products with MG soil or know of any adverse/positive effects?

Many people do fine with what your using for flowering. Not my style but some would say gh is an industry standard.
Miracle grow fertilizers = crap. The soils not as bad and I'm sure your crop will be fine, although your ph is a bit high. You should lower your water ph to around 6.5-5.8. GH ph down works fine.
Grow on.

I am using miracle grow organic soil this grow, and I dont reccomend it. Having a lot of trouble with it, but some is probably my own fault...
I mixed in about 15% perlite, and mixed it real good too... but it seems some plants were starving while some were burning... just a big mess.. no consistancy to the soil.. I wont use MG ever again...
About 3-4 more days till harvest... some plants have been completely yellow for 4 weeks... some are just now yellowing....
been flushing them all just to see what happens... some of them started to green up, and some turned yellower... tells me inconsistancy in soil..

Fishwater... thanks for the insight and info share. How many different bags did you have to go through?? Wondering if each batch they make is that different.

GD...thanks and Ill try and lower the ph and measure the results. Im assuming I should make my measurement of Ph from the run off(out) water when I feed em to get the best idea on what would be safe to say the Ph level of my medium is?? Im a newbie

MiracleGro will work wonderfully, it's not the number one potting soil in America because it is total dogshit (though dogshit would probably be a good medium, so who knows?). I have used MiracleGro and gotten fabulous results. For my coir grows I use the MiracleGro Tomato Plant Food fertilizer when they are in the third week of veg and I use the MiracleGro Soil Acidifier every third watering starting at the third week of veg and the plants always respond extremely well. I haven't found any problems with taste as a result and you don't have to spend a lot of money on soil amendments to get outstanding results. I use Monty's Joy Juice as my budding amendment (for hydro, soil and coir) and I can usually get a gram per watt out of a grow of quality bud.

Can you do better than MiracleGro? Maybe. Are those really expensive amendments more cost-efficient at producing quality marijuana than MiracleGro? The results I have gotten over the years seem to suggest MiracleGro will deliver outstanding results.

I also concur with Pinball Wizard on perlite. If you are handwatering then your plants will be dry and thirsty in three days, but the air exchange provided by the perlite helps root formation and root formation is the basis for getting big bud sets.

I use whatever I have on hand, I stopped measuring and weighing ferts and soilmix ingredients about 35 years ago. I honestly don't see any point in it. Genetics are the limiting factor to everything. No amount of nutrients will make tasteless weed taste good, or low yielding bud set large colas. If the genes are there, the MG soilmix/fertilizers will grow bud that is superior to that grown with any expensive equipment or products you can buy. It's wise to remember that there are people posting on forums who make money from selling us products. They want us to believe things like, "Miracle Gro is bad", or "Kiddies don't try to make your own feminized seeds at home".

I'm using miracle grow at the moment for my clones with about 15-20% perlite, but mix a slight amount of last years soil to "water" it down abit, and they are romping away.

I let them go really light and dry before i re-water. I have had them under both flouros and sodium, and they love it.:yappy:

I believe your having trouble with MG organic is bcuz it contains chicken manure which can be really hot..personally if you use MG just use their reg. potting mix with added perlite/lime and don't use any nutes till your plants need some..
just MVHO..

Just finished up a MG grow. Watered very lightly the entire time and things started turning yellow around day 40-45. Miracle grow seems to work just fine, as mentioned above be very careful about adding nutrients to a nutrient enriched soil like MG. As far as taste goes i wouldn't be able to tell you because they were just chopped.

thanks for all the advice guys... everyones responses, tips, information, direction is well appreciated.

Mr Greengenes- thanks for the sound advice. I really havent thought about people on this site trying to promote thier products. I would hope the moderator would not allow this site to become everyones platform for financial gain.. this site is sweet the way it is

Miracle Grow seems to be working so far with me. My problem is I am not sure how to properly measure the ph of what I put in to what the current ph level is in the soil and how I correctly use the water drainage as a tool for ph indications, ive searched but havent found any specifics on this...yet anyones insight would be great....

What happens when you force a plant into flowering? It's at it's 7th node and has under foilage. I did it a couple days again and I was hoping my impatience wouldn't fuck it up. I just want it to hurry so I can clone it.

I used MG on my first couple grows because I didn't think it mattered. After learning how to grow organically I switched over to FoxFarm Ocean Forrest and EWC teas. There is just no comparison to the quality, health, and yield improvements I have seen.

Some people prefer to mix their own soils, but if you are leery about screwing up ratios or not covering all the nutrients, you can't go wrong with FFOF.

you can flower at any time - smaller plant = less yield

. I just forced these into flower.
