Ceramic Metal Halide (CMH)

I want to use CMH but I want to use a digital ballast. I've got two 250w ballasts, one digital and one magnetic. The digital is better in every way except it won't run a CMH bulb (so I'm told). For now I'll just use the magnetic for CMH. But when are the ballast manufactures gonna start accommodating those that want digi's and CMH???

Anyway, anyone heard of GloGreen?-------->http://www.accendoelectronics.com/GloGreen-Digital-HID-Ballast-Fixture-Products.shtml

Their literature says their 250w digital ballast is compatible with MH, HPS, and CMH. And it operates 100w, 135w, 150w, 200w, and 250w bulbs.
http://www.accendoelectronics.com/PDF/GloGreenMulti250W-Digital-HID-Ballast.pdf

The 575w version runs 360w, 400w, 450w, and 575w bulbs. Again, they specifically mention CMH compatibility.

250 watt HPS magnetic ballast & 250 watt CMH bulb...IMO

isn't that low light?

you need at the least a 400, if not 2x 400's or a 400 and a 250. of just buy a 600 HPS

I would do a 400 and square down the size of the grow, and place the lamp more in a corner, instead of the middle

Two 250's in a 22" x 52" x 8' closet, here. Temp and humidity have never been a problem. lol...It is my lack of skills that plague me!

Namaste, mess

I looked through about 30 pages and couldn't find the answer to this.. I'm interested in converting over to cmh in my dr240w (4x8) but need to find the answer to How does a 400 cmh compare to a 1000w hps for a 4x4 footprint. If I could get similar yields I would love to try it. Sorry if its been asked a million time before I couldn't find it

cheers!

There is no way a 400W CMH will come anywhere close to a 1K watt HPS in any regard.

Should be.

Some 400 users have had problems with HTGs weak ass ignitors which force them to shorten the cord between ballast and lamp. I don't know the 250s suffer from this. My 250 didn't.

move ignitors next to bulb!
