OK..i was forced into coco..was growing in h2o..a dwc. micro-grow in a cab under a 150hps...occasionally i would have temp issues..one time it almost destroyed everything i was growing... when i first started growing i did it in soil (2003). once i went to water and saw how much bigger and in my opinion better my results were i swore i would never go back...i do not know how i got turned on to coco coir but once i tried it i was truly satisfied with the results...i do not know all the science behind it but coco coir, for me, was similar to hydro with the final product.
so i did not just get up one day and say i am going to coco...i was having h2o temp problems and decide to give it a try to save my garden...it worked and at the time i was using advance nutrients 3 part formula..grow, micro, bloom...to me it was similar to gh's same formula...gh might have had a little more salt residue...anyway, i am getting low on the advance nutrients and i usually go with what is less expensive..usually it is gh but this last time around the advance was the same price so i gave it a go. canna is about the same in $$
should i get the canna nutes for coco plus the pk thing?
what would other suggest? i suspect any hydro mix will do but are those specialized for coco coir better?

ANY nutrient that works in soil or hydro can work in coco.
As of right now I'm using Maxibloom, which is not labeled as coco specific.
This plant was grown in straight coco using nothing but MiracleGrow Tomato plant food, which is not labeled as a coco specific nutrient.

Also, I've used MiracleGrow Tomato plant food, again not coco specific.

well true to a point.... ive used hydro on soil too.... but you get better results with a nute that is designed for your medium...

your NPK rating will be allittle off usually not a big deal unless you have a sensitive plant...

it is about a $10 usd difference between canna 3 part and gh 3 part...how can one measure a $10 difference...buddy of mine got a dui and he went to see the local urban legend attorney...the urban legend said his fee is 5 grand his partner's fee is $2500.00...so who do you go with????my buddy went with the 5 grand guy so he was never left going "what if"..he lost...he could have got the same thing for half the cost...i have always heard you get what you pay for..and gn has been a good buy IMO...so should i pay a little more for something that is saying it is medium specific?

I'm a big fan of this nute setup:

grow-micro-bloom
big bud
b 52
overdrive
voodoo juice

it's been working for me for a while...gotta take some time off cuz i'm moving, but whenever somoene asks me what to use, this is what i say

i'm a hydro lover tho, so not sure with the coco deal. you'd have to ask the pros at AN about that one...

Just because it costs more, doesn't make it any better.

GH 3-part for the win. Use the spreadsheet and adjust the ratios to whatever you want. Consistently repeatable.

canna a+b because its tried and tested... Its super simple... Add in the additives if you wish, they are cannazym, rhizo, pk 13/14 and if you really wanna splash out, boost.

additives are a joke imo.. want a sure thing, buy more light n better exhaust, save your hundred bucks on nutes additions and buy a 150hps and yeild 5 more ounces, or buy some advanced nutes or other companies fulvic acid plus sea weed and bloom boost for 80 bucks for ten more grams.

Ah, the old 'you get what you pay for'. Not true in any market. Here's Mr. Greengenes' rule;
"You don't get what you pay for, you get what you know. And, the more you know, the more you get."

On another thread a few weeks back, someone was questioning the value of some voodoo that cost about $200 for a quart. I commented that it must have gold flakes in it and wasn't I lucky that I could just go out back and dig up some compost and get better results. Get this. Someone actually came back and tried to tell me that the voodoo would work better than my compost! HAHAHAHAHA, funniest thing I've heard yet on this forum.

FNB and a Ca / Mg supplement until before late bloom.

Because it's simple and seems to cover all of the bases.

I was very close to choosing the GH two-part Lucas Formula, but at least in this area, it would be slightly more expensive.

Warning a U.S. centric rant follows.

Don't you folks with no budgets have grandparents or great-grand parents that lived through the Depression in the 30s? Just because it costs more, doesn't make it any better. How many examples have to be cited to break that fallacy?

First of all, anything that is imported from Europe to the U.S. is almost always going to be more expensive than a similar product manufactured in the U.S. or even Canada (and imported to the U.S.) The same is not true from Asia, which is why people buy ballasts direct from Chinese merchants.

Use care with additives because you don't want to cause an imbalance.

In the hydro stores they will literally throw additives at you. They're like freakin' car salesmen.

Do you want the undercoating?

How about the tire maintenance package?

And the non-manufacturer extended warranty?

Oh you're using FNB?

You'll definitely want to try Floralicious and Floranecter along with it.
