Hi all I've been using FloraNova Bloom for years. I've had some great results with it, broke 1GPW with it, had excellent PH stablity etc.
Its good except for the solids, and sludge problems.

I'd like to try something else.. And I figgure there are people out there that have tried all of the major brands, I'm not one of those.

Anywho, here's the criteria.

1) Must be a 1 part nutrient.

2) PH stable.

3) Little to no solids to clog sprayers.

I have no preference to if its organic or not.

I've had one suggestion to switch to NSR greenleaves, and I hear Botinicare, is pretty damm good to.

Anywho just looking for those that have done some comparisons between the major brands.

:thanks:

Hi All !!:santa1: Used FNBloom...it is good! the GRITTINESS is not good
Use PBPBloom + Calmag+ as the base
Add sweet-berry, Liquid Karma.... keeps the stretching to a minimum
and Carboload powder...+ Sensizym ...+ Sub culture once every month
1/4 tsp per 1.5 gal RO water (microbes and enzymes) and food to feed them....this list is a GOOD fert mix.........try it! Peace!:santa1:

For my DWC, I use Botinicare pro bloom. Even to veg in. But my tap water demands the Cal Mag too. Gradually switching to rain water to see if I still need the cal mag.

Yeah, the sludge/grit really gets to me.

Interesting mix, but too high maintence for me, at most I'll add a PK booster and flavor enhancer like floralicious.

How is PBP bloom by itself?

Hmm.. hows PH with boti? Hows the PH from the start?. Low Hi? Stable for at least 2 weeks?

Rain water? correct me if I'm wrong but isn't rain water very low in solids?

gh bio thrive grow & bloom & roots...

gh fnb usually self-adjusts to 6.0-6.2...

the so-called vegan formula they have self-adjusts to around 6.5... but has low ppms for full strength, requiring more ferts used to up ppms to 1.0 ec or so... full strength may get to 1.0/700ppm (nutra-wand)... but seems concept is to keep ppms down & ph stable... seems to wrk... immediate response visble @ application of just the grow, bllom & roots...

the grow formula is 4-3-3... so, can use this thru out, instead of weak 2-4-4 bloom... which not enough n... maybe...

there are also these selections from gh, for ph stability:

gh flora mato 1 part dry nutrient 10-6-18, w/ all micros...

gh flora magic all purpose plant food 10-8-18, w/ all micros...

this may also be helpful:

The MaxiGro/MaxiBloom powdered ferts (by GH), are inexpensive, easy to use, and have all the benefits of FloraNova, without the negative aspects. Take a look at the link below; they stock this stuff pretty much everywhere plant gear is sold.

I like general hydroponics, always a good brand.

Anywho, hows the PH stability with that stuff?..

One thing I loved about FloraNova was how stable it was. I think part of the success of my grows was the quality buffer they used.

pH tends to be stable at about 5.8 with my tap. Flora Nova, with the same water, settled around 6-6.5. So in effect, Maxi has the same buffering qualities of FN, without the sludge and headaches.

I think it's so often overlooked because people are looking for turbocharged liquid ferts with crazy advertising campaigns. But the Maxi will perform just as well with an equally dialed in system.

Interesting, I would have guessed that FN would have PH'ed lower.
Thats what I've always come up with when using tap, my tap is fairly clean tho' comes out at 100PPM on average tho'.

I like the price of Maxi.

Have any picts of your crops on maxi?

I'm using the floranova series nutes and I'm amazed by the simplicity and pH stability.
Does your res have a circulation pump? I've been using a 260gph pump with a drip hub(six jets) to stir my res and have very little residue and no grit.even at 1500ppm. Try stirring and an air diffuser in your res lots less problems.I'm really amazed and impressed with the size and vigor of my girls. my 2pence

Hey guys...did some poking and found another dude that runs Maxi with un-adjusted tap, with great results. Here's a shot of his C99 BX, grown on nothing but straight coco, straight tap, and straight Maxi. No pH adjustments necessary:

Here's a link to the full grow, with details on his nute schedule:

Well my current setup is running a 2000GPH pump and 20+ jets, I _really_ would like to avoid any problems with clogging, I was thinking of doing a circulation pump like you suggested, or at least more inline filters.

Yes I agree, the PH stablity and 1 part ease make FNB a winner.

Well I've run FNB many times before, and it does have a tendency to sludge up equipment, like my constant monitor probes. So in my mind it does dirty up equipment more than the GH 3 part.

Nice cola. I think he's running 600 X2 HPS. In addition to maxi I plan on running a PK booster and Floralicious.

Nice thing about dry powders is they dont evaporate making a mess when stored.

And it's GH. :) On the flora series, I got buds 4 fingers wide in 400,
In FNB, in a combo MH/HPS 250/100, I got buds 3 fingers wide. Lets see what I can do with a 1KW with maxi.

I'll stop by the store see what a couple pounds of maxi goes for.

I know it's not a one part solution, but consider looking into GH Flora Bloom and Micro (Lucas Formula). It would be 2 part but with zero grit and has an extremely long shelf life unlike FloraNova.

I use FloraNova Bloom (Lucas) in an NFT setup. Mixing aside, I love it. I've had my best yields (same genetics) by far using it. But with your system, I can see why you are looking for alternatives.

Good luck!

I absolutely recommend Maxibloom. The plant in that pic was grown outside in straight coco and Maxibloom at 1tsp/gal.
I'm now running a table of the same pheno, using the same ratio, adding Floralicous+ every other rez change.
Maxibloom is not quite a powder, more of granular, so you gotta shake it good to get it to dissolve properly, but the results are freakin amazing!
