Also,PLEASE explain how MUCH light leaks in..whats the cause of the light leak..etc..my closet gets pretty damn dark..with just TINY bit of lgiht..so I need to know just HOW much you consider your lgiht leak to be..and if it has ever delayed flowering..

I know this thread is OLD as hell. BUT!!!!!! After reading a bunch of different websites, I decided to write a breeder myself, and see if they would respond. I decided to go with Greenhouse Seeds, and they replied my email in less than 24 hours. I am only posting this to help any future people wondering when the breeders themselves start counting. I hope this help someone in the future. Now I know that this is only 1 breeder, and I will try to email a few more, but for now....... Here is a copy of my email from Greenhouse Seeds.
Happy Holidays,

Dear XXXXXXXXXXXXXX(my name doesn't matter),

Thank you for your email.

You start counting from the moment you switch the light to 12/12. The
flowering time depends on which strain you are growing. If you completed the
flowering weeks and the hairs are still quite white you can leave them a bit
longer. When 20-30% of the hairs become brown they are ready.

Kind regards,

GHSC

What kind of experienced breeder tells you to harvest based on the color of the pistils? I think anybody whose grown more than one or two crops knows that hair color is a very rough indicator, at best. I would be skeptical of any other advice this particular "breeder" gives.

Hey there smart guy. I stated who this PARTICULAR breeder is. Did u not read the post. GREENHOUSE SEEDS! That's who wrote me that email that I COPIED AND PASTED to this thread. I have pasted this email on SEVERAL different threads, and all it is is causing problems. I DON'T CARE WHAT UR EXPERIENCE IS. I MYSELF CHECK THE TRICHS, AND ONLY USE THE WEEKS GIVEN TO ME BY THE BREEDER AS A GUIDELINE. IT'S JUST THAT I GOOGLED THIS QUESTION AND MOST THREADS WERE ARGUING ABOUT HOW BREEDERS DO IT. SO I THOUGHT I WOULD HELP PEOPLE OUT,AND DIRECTLY ASK A BREEDER. THAT IS THE ANSWER THEY GAVE ME, THAT U HAVE READ WITH UR OWN 2 EYES. IF U WANNA ARGUE WITH SOME...... DON'T WASTE UR TIME WITH ME. HERE'S GREENHOUSE SEEDS EMAIL (shop@greenhouseseeds.nl) ARGUE WITH THEM! UNDERSTAND THIS.... I AM IN NO WAY SAYING THAT IF THE BREEDER SAYS 8 WEEKS, IT'S DONE IN 8 WEEKS. I SAY CHECK THE TRICHS! BUT HOW DO THE BREEDERS OF THEIR SEEDS(NOT OURS) DETERMINE FLOWERING TIME??????? AND THE ANSWER WAS FROM THE HORSES MOUTH! EMAIL THEM URSELVES, I HAD THE BALLS, NOW U DO IT SMART ASS! That post was to clear peoples questioning of when "breeders" start counting flower time. Not members of a forum!

And since ur sooooo experienced. Let me ask u a question? I only have about 5 grows under my belt, so I'm a noob. But ur telling me u don't see the difference in stigmas when they trichs start changing?????? Does ur hair stay white when ur trichs are cloudy/amber???????? Both the Trichs and the Pistils go hand in hand when determining harvest. Try reading a little more info before spewing BS like ur some breeder. I am NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM A BREEDER! BUT the books/info I read, I would say, ahve a lot more info, based on facts then OPINIONS. CAUSE all and all, that's what this is. None of us here are weed scientist, though some would like to believe they are, while others think there is no science to growing weed. Though plants ARE SCIENCE A-HOLES! Never thought growing bud would make me dislike A-HOLES so much. It's turned me into more of a hater than a lover. LMFAO! How about this.Click on this link about flower maturity. Flower_maturity.jpg This is straight from the BREEDERS website. Have fun arguing with them! I know though this is from the breeders. Some people still will argue, cause they no more than the scientist/breeders who do this everyday for a living(unlike u/us)

Here Is Another Breeder's E-mail This One's From Ceres Seeds

I'm gonna start adding these Disclaimers to my posts, to avoid arguments. LMFAO!

*THIS DOES NOT MEAN I AGREE WITH THESE EMAILS, AND THAT IS THE CORRECT WAY. I AM JUST POSTING THEM TO ANSWER PEOPLE'S QUESTIONS ABOUT WHEN BREEDER'S STAR COUNTING.

*I hope I don't offend any breeder's out there by posting these emails. This is for the SOLE purpose of people's E-JEW-MAH-KAY-SHION(EDUCATION FOR THOSE WHO AREN'T EDUCATED, LOL. JUST KIDDIN PPL. SMILE!). It does NOT mean that we are actually growing any cannabis. Unless it is allowed in our country

the correct answer would be from the moment you switch from 18/12 to 12/12.
Of course the stated flowering times are indications. You might want to flower a
couple of days longer or shorter, depending on your circumstances .

Good luck.
