I dunno I always have this feeling that if I were to go anywhere between San Diego and Eureka I'd either get robbed, raped, or murdered.

I lived two streets behind Juanita's and two streets infront of Stone Steps...My favorite place on earth...To bad it is in San Diego...Maybe when Dumanis is gone I will move back down there...

I LOVE CALIFORNIA! North South Central... Just as long as it is near the coast or in the snowy mountains...NO DESERT FOR ME!

Yah my buddy lives on orpheus, right across from that house thats named buffalo somethin or another, you should check him out he is pretty cool dude.

this thread is a bad idea...

Funny how folks living in California seem to love living there but, most of the country likes nothing about California beyond it's natural beauty.
Personally, I lived there for a few months and had to leave as it was just so expensive I couldn't make enough money. I worked the fishing boats around Catalina Island.
I visited Northern California once and found the people quite rude, except for one waitress.

I LOVE MICHIGAN !

I prefer fresh water over salt water and I believe Michigan has a longer coastline than California.

If all states with a coast of any kind were included, Michigan would rank second with 3,224 miles (5,189 km) of coast on the Great Lakes.
California has a mere 840 miles of coastline.
Michigan has 64,980 inland lakes. A person in the state is never more than six miles (10 km) from a natural water source, or more than 87.2 miles (140.3 km) from a Great Lakes shoreline.

A wide variety of commodity crops, fruits, and vegetables are grown in Michigan, making it second only to California among U.S. states in the diversity of its agriculture. Michigan is a leading grower of fruit, including blueberries, cherries, apples, grapes, and peaches.

mishitgan is great. my buddy got robbed at knifepoint in Detroit a few months ago walking to his hotel room after a Phish concert.

median house price is under 15,000

and thanks to the ridiculous 40% tax break it took a lot of Film jobs out of Los Angeles.

Thanks a lot.

Detroit Rock City

So would that translate to California is great because of it's crime rates ?

Sure looks like California surpasses Michigan in high crime rates.

S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices
The S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices have DETROIT median home prices at $72,000 as of September 2009, not $15,000.

Please do not EVER try to compare Michigan and California. Please.

I have family that live in Michigan so I'm not talking out of my ass. I am "forced" to visit there every year and I mostly stay in West Bloomfield during my time which would be considered the "higher" parts of living.

Shithole is a good word to describe the State, although there are many other good names too. Michigan had its once upon a time. The state is in ruin, its sad but please keep the two from comparison.

It's like the difference between a beautiful Red 2010 Ferrari F-350 (California) and a 1986 Go-Cart (Michigan).

I won't lie though, your water does taste better. But that is where the comparison stops!

(And for the sake of arguement, I have family in Dearborn, Troy, Southfield and Royal Oaks so don't try to come back with something creative because I've been all over. And I did you a favor and left out Detroit!)

Thanks guys.

I'm glad you all love "Cali" so much but I for one am getting a little sick of hearing about it all the time, cali cali cali, etc....
Been there, good and bad, just like any other place, more then a little over rated IMO.
